Abstract

The unit comprises a laser as an energy source emitting coherent light for evaporation and excitation of sample material. An optical system focusses coherent light on the sample to be analysed and a spectrograph analyzing the spectrum of the radiation emitted by the heated sample. A frequency selective or partly silvered mirror is placed inclined in the light path between the laser and the optical system. It deflects radiation from the excited sample material after is has passed through the sample, vap- and has been focussed by the optical system, so that it is directed to the spectrograph slot plane.
