Abstract

The adaptable furniture suite is built up from a base frame (2) and demountably connected modular components (3, 4, 5). The range of components includes an arm rest (4), a back rest (3), and a masking panel (5). The latter panel (5) fits beneath the seat front. The frames (2) are of parallel piped form. The system builds into armchairs, fireside chairs, settees or beds. The base frame (2) may take the form of a shallow box frame of square plan. The twin horizontal top (7) and bottom (6) ring frames are of 'L' section members with the vertical leg uppermost and external. The four posts (8) are of equal height and also of 'L' section. The components e.g. an armrest (4) are connected by bolts through (9) the vertical leg of the top frame (7), and by a basal runner engaging a plate-formed channel (10) appended to the bottom frame (6).
