Abstract

The struts (5, 6) are fitted at the top end with a sleeve and pin assembly (, 13) which can be slid together so that the receeding part (14) of the sleeve (7) serves as an open hinge for the pin (13). The sleeve (7) is fitted with a shank (10) sliding inside the box cross-section struts (5). The pin support (12) also has a shank (15) inserted into the strut (6) end, and permanently connected by rivets (11, 16). The sleeve is provided on one side with a guide ramp (19) for the pin (13) terminating in recess (14) which serves as a hinge for use as a step ladder. The sleeve is also fitted with a limiting bracket (21) extending from the top of the strut (5), acting as a bearing surface when the ladder is in the open position. In the folded position the limiting bracket leaves enough room for the strut (6) to slide through for use as a travelling ladder. There are lugs engaged in holes on strut (5) to obtain various heights of the ladder.
