Abstract

The machine is drawn behind a tractor and has a frame with tiller blades and compacting roller. Above the tiller blades is a roll of plastic film, which is unreeled onto the ground, its edges being covered with soil. At the rear of the machine are cam operated arms each fitted with a coned adaptor. These operate vertically to puncture the sheet and form a hole, a measure of fertilizer being introduced at the same time. A vertical wheel behind the arms, mounted on the frame, has buckets for the seedlings, fed from a manually loaded conveyor. As the wheel rotates, the plants are deposited into the holes.
