Abstract

The silo is built in telescoping sections (1, 3) of successively increasing dia. It is transported in the compact retracted form, and on site a crane is used to erect the structure vertically. For sites which are inaccessible to cranes a steel frame (4) may be used to house the silo. Telescopic extension is then achieved by means of a hoist (7, 8) operating from the top (6) of the frame. The frame is a portal with concrete foundations (5) and diagonal bracing (9, 10). The silo has chutes, loading holes, and a discharge hopper, and may have any geometrical cross-section shape.
