Abstract

The closure is circular and is intended to fit into, and seal, the aperture of a receptacle (6). The top (2) of the closure is provided with an integral cap (3) and pull ring (4) during manufacture. On the outside circumference of the closure, near the open lower end (1), is an annular groove below another annular groove (8) of larger diameter. The closure is placed and sealed in the lower, smaller diameter groove and after sterilization further sealing is effected using the larger diameter groove. This restores tension between closure and receptacle to maintain the seal.
