Abstract

The cutter consists of a container (1) with an opening (2) in its lower part extending over the whole breadth of the container. Through the opening protrudes a small diameter cutting rotor (3) driven by the tractor power take off. Silage cut and shredded by this rotor passes back to a larger diameter rotor (4) whose axis is parallel to rotor (3), and wh ich blows the material through channel (5). The material falls on to a conveyor feeding an auger which discharges the material when required. The container is supported by legs on wheels and is attached to a tractor by a drawbar. A jack acting between the drawbar and the legs enables the position of t he cutting rotor to be altered from ground level to the fully raised position at which stage the container is full and ready for transport to an unloading area.
