Abstract

An electric generator is mounted on the floating platform which is anchored to the sea bed by a number of cables and winches. The generator drive shaft is coupled by the cardan shaft and universal joints to the propeller which is attached by similar means to a chain of propellers. The propellers are arranged to face the current which causes them to rotate and drive the generator. In order to ensure that the anchoring load is shared equally by all the cables, each winch is mounted on a slide retained by a hydraulic jack, each jack being supplied with fluid at the same pressure.
