Abstract

The process consists in the destruction of weeds in situ by severe cold, i.e. by spraying them with liquid nitrogen. As nitrogen is an inert gas, there is not pollution of the environment. The devie comprises a reservoir (7) connected by a flexible pipe (5) to a rigid pipe provided with a stop cock (6). The rigid pipe is connected to spray boom provided with a number of nozzles, and supported at each end by a wheel. The spray may be L-shaped with one wheel on the inside of the short arm or straight (11). The spray nozzles are conical with either several holes around the sides (3) or one hole at the point of the cone.
