Abstract
The drive is particularly for auxiliary machines such as fans, pumps, etc., from an automotive engine, having vee pulleys on driving and driven shafts and a vee belt running between them. A second flexible endless belt runs between the pulleys and engages with the first one. One half of each pulley can slide axially in relation to the other half, to vary the ratio. Complementary sections can be formed on the two belts, to give positive engagement between them. Alternatively one or both of the belts can be replaced by chains, the driving pulley having radial grooves in the sides, in which protrusions on the chain engage.
