Abstract

The system comprises a horizontal furnace exhaust duct section into which water is sprayed co-current with the exhaust flow from centrally spaced nozzles, and a vertical section which a reduced diameter into which water is sprayed both co- and counter-currently. The bottom of the vertical section is position in a sump, the top being fitted with a baffle at moisture eliminator. Good gas/liquid contact is achieved and maintenance is reduced since no fan is employed.
