Abstract

843,609. Gas-liquid contact apparatus. SCHNEIBLE CO., C. B. Dec. 20, 1956, No. 38909/56. Class 55 (2). A gas-liquid contact apparatus comprises a column having a series of zones formed between annular plates 11 on which are mounted baffles 13 covered with caps 12 and giving gas passing upwardly through the column a circular motion, a liquid supply pipe 14 over a cap 12 in at least one zone whereby a stream of liquid is atomized by the gas issuing from between the baffles, and a gas outlet 21 having a depending portion 16 within the column to remove liquid droplets entrained in the gas before it leaves the column. The depending portion may be cylindrical or may have, as shown, outwardly-flared walls and be surrounded by a ring 17. Holes 18 are provided in the plates 11 to permit drainage of liquid down the column.
