Abstract
The bore of the body in which the shaft pivots is furnished with a coaxial annular groove opening onto one extremity. In this groove is an incompressible shock absorbing material, approximately the volume of the groove, and between this material and the shaft is a thin layer of compressible material, with thickness slightly greater than the radial clearance between shaft and body. The groove is closed by an annular plate with bore equal to that of the body. The annular plate is bolted to the body and deforms the uncompressible deformable ring which projects, before clamping, a short distance from the face of the body.
