Abstract

The vacuum pump (1) has its suction and pressure tubes (2, 3) selectively connected to the gas channel under test, with a three way electromagnetic valve (7) for isolating the gas channel, so as to maintain the high or low pressure created in the latter by the pump (1) after this has been stopped. A manometer gauge (9) is connected to the gas channel upstream of the isolating valve (7) to indicate to the operator any loss of pressure from the channel. A pressure gauge (10, 11) is pref. connected to the line (8) supplying the manometer (9) and associated with an electrical contactor, to stop the pump (1) and operate the isolating valve (7) when the pressure in the gas channel attains a given value.
