Abstract

There is a hydraulic jack (1) whose body (2) and piston (3) are connected to an attachment point (4) and to the pipeline (8). The body of the jack is connected to a pressure vessel (9) whose volume is much greater than that of the jack. The pressure vessel contains gas under pressure. The pipe connecting the body of the jack to the pressure vessel has a valve which isolates the jack from the pressure vessel and permits the piston to be locked in position. The aim of the system is to exert on the piston rod (6) a sensibly constant load whatever the position of the pipe (8), to protect the fixing point as well as the pipe from detrimental strain variations.
