Abstract

The bolt is intended to provide an anchor in an underground rock face to which may be attached a partition or roof lining. The bolt is inserted in a hole drilled in the rock face. The length of the bolt is such that it can give a good grip. The part of the bolt that is inserted in the hole comprises two ribbed shells (2). At the top of the bolt there is a nut (1) under which is a collar. There is a further collar (3) around the bolt. When the nut is tightened the shells are forced apart thereby causing them to grip the sides of the hole. The nut and internal surface of the bolt have cooperating tapering faces.
