Abstract

The joint consists of two semi-cylindrical half shells (1). Each half shell (1) has a radially projecting flange (4) at one end perpendicular to the tube axis and two longitudinal flanges (2) diametrically opposite in the plane of the axis. The inner cylindrical surface of the half shell (6) is pierced with a number of square holes with an inwardly pointing triangular point on each side of the square giving a rasp-like appearance. The half shells are clamped around the end of the pipe to be joined being secured by bolts passing through holes in the longitudinal flanges. The end of the pipe is recessed below the surface of the end flanges to take a sealing ring (14).
