Abstract

The plastic pipes (2) are joined by two pairs of half shells (1) provided with end flanges (1a) for bolts (3). Each half shell is joined to its opposite half by bolts (4) through holes in longitudinal flanges. Sealing collars (5) fit in recesses in the end flanges (1a). The bores of the half shells are provided with a number of parallel sharp edged ridges (6) which exert a firm grip on the tubes (2). The ridges of each half are disposed at an angle to the end flanges and the junction of the ridges of each half forms an obtuse angle. The idea can be adapted to secure a branch pipe to the main pipe.
