Abstract
Green fodder is pressed to make cattle-cake while the extracted juice is flocculated to obtain a feed additive product high in proteins and carotenes. Esp. the flocculation is produced by a combination of heating to 80-100 degrees C together with the addn. of a flocculating agent which also adjusts the pH value of the juice to a neutral or slightly basic value, for this purpose, lime, phosphates or carbonates with pH values 6.5 may be used. Protein and carotene levels are enhanced in the final flocculant, which is dried by flotation and/or decantation and/or centrifuging followed by warm air drying.
