Abstract

Compsn. consists of (a) a foaming agent (pref. a solubilised protein or a synthetic surface active agent), (b) a fluorocarbon surface active agent, and (c) an S- and O- (1-6C alkyl)-substituted oxyacid of sulphur (pref. a compound RSO3H or ROSO3H in which R is 1-6C alkyl) or a salt thereof (pref. a sodium, potassium, ammonium or alkylammonium salt). The composition is suitable e.g. for suppressing dust formation, for fire-fighting, for cleaning tubes, in paper-making, in dyeing, and for reducing evaporation losses by applying a foam layer to hydrocarbon fuels. The foams have improved stability (even in the presence of hydrocarbon oils), while still retaining mobility.
