Abstract

The cylindrical drive roller, which is in driving engagement with the conical yarn packet, comprises a rotatable shaft having two or more axially aligned sleeves mounted freely rotatable on it, the sleeves being selectively latchable to the shaft such that they rotate with it. Pref. the latch actuating mechanism includes an hydraulic damper for reducing the jolt during latching. The bobbin speed is varied in dependence of the diameter of the package in engagement with a driven sleeve.
