Abstract

1,235,095. Variable speed gear. N. SCHLUMBERGER & CIE. 11 March, 1969 [12 March, 1968], No. 12643/69. Heading F2D. A variable-speed control gear, (e.g. for textile machines) comprises driving and driven cone pulleys 21, 22 with a belt 25 guided by a carriage 27 movable axially by rotation of a screw 33 also movable axially by a compensating driver (e.g. a worm 106-driven cam 81 rocking a lever 83) to increase the carriage movement. The pulley 22 may spin a bobbin 47 as yarn is wound on, the bobbin being reciprocated vertically by apparatus 76 driving the screw 33. With the cam 81 may rotate arms (115, 116), Fig. 3 (not shown) controlling adjustable limit switches (111, 112), one of which acts when a bobbin 47 is full, to disconnect the drives to the roller 21 and apparatus 76 and switch on an auxiliary motor (151), Fig. 5 (not shown) with a belt drive to the roller 21 and via a one-way clutch (163) on the shaft 73, the screw 33 to reset the control gear. The worm 106 rotatable with the screw 33 may either move axially therewith, Fig. 1, or be prevented from so doing, Fig. 4 (not shown).
