Abstract
The subject-matter of the invention is an arrangement, used in a system processing video signals, for automatically monitoring and controlling the blanking current (black-level current) of a picture reproduction tube. During periodic monitoring intervals in which no picture signals appear, an output signal is generated at the cathode of the picture tube which is proportional to the black level of the cathode current. This cathode signal is produced as a reaction to a grid control pulse applied during the monitoring interval. The cathode signal produced is processed in a digital signal processing circuit (70, 76, 77) in order to generate a control voltage which changes step by step and which, if necessary, changes the cathode bias voltage in such a direction that a desired value for the black level cathode current is obtained. To prevent the system from starting to oscillate in the vicinity of the correct cathode bias voltage, the grid control pulses (GP2) are given a special shape in particular development of the invention.
