Abstract

A stockless anchor designed to have the advantages of that type and of a stocked anchor without their respective disadvantages has its flukes 1 and 2 made in such away that their mass and support surface are situated towards their points 6,7 by considerable widening of the flukes from their heels 4 followed by narrowing to their points, and by considerable raising of the heels of the flukes. The anchor thus has a general shape reminiscent of a double- headed battle-axe the handle of which would be the shank 3. The swinging block 5 partially covers the central area in which the heels of the flukes 1,2 meet and its deflector plates 5a, 5b may overlap past the edge 8 of the heels of the flukes.
