Abstract

Un método para convertir simultáneamente, los componentes de monóxido de carbono, hidrocarburos y óxidos de nitrógeno en una corriente gaseosa, que comprende poner en contacto dicha corriente gaseosa en condiciones que convierten dichos componentes gaseosas en condiciones que convierten dichos componentes en dióxido de carbono, agua y nitrógeno, con cantidades controladas, aproximadamente estequiometricas, de oxigeno y una composición catalítica que tiene un material cataliticamente activador que comprende un componente de soporte de alumina finalmente dividido y un componente solido finalmente dividido y cataliticamente activador que contiene uno o más miembros seleccionados del grupo constituido por metales base que tienen un número atómico de 25 a 28 y renio, y un componente metálico del grupo del platino uno o ambos de platino y paladio, y uno o más de rodio, rutenio e iridio estando depositado dicho material cataliticamente activador sobre un soporte solido de tamaño macroscópico, estando presentes dichos uno o más metales base en dicha composición catalítica en una cantidad mayor que dichos metales del grupo del platino, preparandose dicho catalizador por depositación sobre dicho soporte solido de tamaño macroscópico de un componente solido finalmente dividido que contiene uno o mas miembros seleccionados del grupo constituido por metales base que tiene un numero atómico de 25 a 28 y renio, y un componente de soporte de alumina solido y finalmente dividido, y mantenimiento de una cantidad principal de dicho metal en forma sólida a todo lo largo de la fabricación de dicha composición catalítica.
