Abstract

Un método de controlar la posición de una cabeza de escribir o leer, la cual cubre pistas adyacentes sobre un soporte de registro, con relación a por lo menos una pista adyacente, cada una de cuyas pistas contiene señales tanto de información como de seguimiento, teniendo frecuencias diferentes las señales de seguimiento a ambos lados de las pistas, siendo separadas las señales de seguimiento de la pista adyacente o de las pistas adyacentes de las otras señales, y siendo derivada una señal de control de las señales separadas, cuya señal de control tiene una magnitud que es función de la desviación de la cabeza de escribir o leer con respecto a la posición correcta con relación a la pista que ha de ser escrita o leída, cuya señal se emplea para corregir dicha desviación, caracterizado porque en "n" pistas consecutivas son o han de ser registradas señales de seguimiento de "n" frecuencias diferentes en una secuencia cíclica, siendo "n" mayor que 4, proporcionando siempre la diferencia de lasfrecuencias de las señales de seguimiento de cada dos pistas adyacentes con la frecuencia de una tercera señal, cuya frecuencia puede diferir de una pista a otra, cuartas señales con el mismo par de frecuencias más bajas, de cuyas cuartas señales se deriva la señal de control.
