Abstract

Novel compounds I (including salts thereof) wherein Z signifies H, C 1-4 alkoxy, alkyloxy, methoxymethoxy or ethoxymethoxy and X signifies halogen, methyl, -CF 3 or methoxy, or, if Z is alkoxy or alkyloxy X may also signify H, are prepared utilizing standard methods. The preparation of the following intermediates is also described: N - [4 - (# - <3 - methylbenzamido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - N1,N1 - diphenyl - urea and -N1 - cyclo - heptatrienylurea, 1 - [4 - (# - <2 - methoxy - 5 - chloro - benz - amido> - ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - 3 - cyclo - heptyl - parabanic acid, N - [4 - (# - <2 - meth - oxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido> - ethyl) - benzene - sulphonyl] - phenyl urethane, -N1 - methyl-urea, -N1-acetyl - urea, -N1-cycloheptyl - thiourea and the corresponding -N1-cycloheptyl - isourea methyl ether, -N1-cycloheptyl - isothiourea methyl ether, and -imino - dithiocarbonic acid (in the form of the potassium salt) and the dimethyl ester thereof, N,N1-bis-[4-(#-<2-methoxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido> - ethyl) - benzene - sulphonyl] - urea, 4 - [4 - (# - <2 - methoxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido > ethyl) - benzenesulphonyl] - cyclo - octanone - semicarbazone, 4 - (# - <2 - methoxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido> - ethyl) - ben - zenesulphonamide and the cycloheptylamine salt of N - [4 - (# - <2 - methoxy - 5 - chloro - benzamido> - ethyl - benzenesulphonyl] - N1- acetyl-urea. Pharmaceutical preparations showing hypoglycemic action contain as active ingredient compounds I administration may be orally, e.g. in the form of a tablet.
