Abstract
Un procedimiento de fabricación de escamas de perlita revestidas que comprende: (i) proporcionar escamas de perlita; (ii) aplicar una capa de óxido de estaño sobre las escamas de perlita para obtener escamas de perlita revestidas con óxido de estaño; (iii) aplicar una capa de dióxido de titanio sobre las escamas de perlita revestidas con óxido de estaño obtenidas en la etapa (ii) para obtener escamas de perlita revestidas con dióxido de titanio y óxido de estaño; y (iv) aplicar una capa de óxido de hierro a las escamas de perlita revestidas con dióxido de titanio y óxido de estaño para obtener las escamas de perlita revestidas.

Para composiciones de pigmentación tales como revestimientos y tintas de impresión, los pigmentos de efecto de acuerdo con la invención, cuando sea apropiado junto con aditivos habituales, tales como, por ejemplo, cargas, otros pigmentos, secantes o plastificantes, se dispersan finamente o se disuelven en el mismo disolvente orgánico o mezcla de disolventes, siendo posible que los componentes individuales se disuelvan o se dispersen por separado o que un número de componentes se disuelvan o se dispersen juntos y, solo a partir de entonces, que todos los componentes se junten.
La dispersión de un pigmento de efecto de acuerdo con la invención en una composición que se está pigmentando y el procesamiento de una composición de pigmento de acuerdo con la invención, se realizan preferentemente en condiciones en las que solo se producen fuerzas de cizalla relativamente débiles de modo que el pigmento de efecto no se divida en porciones más pequeñas.
Los plásticos comprenden el pigmento de la invención en cantidades del 0,1 al 50 % en peso, en particular del 0,5 al 7 % en peso. En el sector del revestimiento, los pigmentos de la invención se emplean en cantidades del 0,1 al 10 % en peso. En la pigmentación de sistemas de aglutinantes, por ejemplo, para pinturas y tintas de impresión para huecograbado, impresión en offset o serigrafía, el pigmento se incorpora en la tinta de impresión en cantidades del 0,1 al 50 % en peso, preferentemente del 5 al 30 % en peso y en particular del 8 al 15 % en peso.
Las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención pueden usarse en cualquier aplicación en la que los pigmentos de efecto se hayan usado hasta ahora. Por tanto, los productos de la presente invención tienen un uso ilimitado en todos los tipos de aplicaciones de pintura automotriz e industrial, especialmente en el campo del revestimiento y las tintas de color orgánico donde se requiere una intensidad profunda del color. Por ejemplo, estos pigmentos pueden usarse en tono de la masa o como agentes de estilismo para pulverizar pintura a todo tipo de vehículos automotrices y no automotrices. De forma similar, las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención pueden usarse en todas las superficies de arcilla/formica/madera/vidrio/metal/esmalte/cerámica y superficies no porosas o porosas.
Cuando la composición que se está pigmentando mediante las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención es un revestimiento, es especialmente un revestimiento de especialidad, muy especialmente un acabado automotriz.
Las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención también pueden usarse en composiciones de revestimiento en polvo. Pueden incorporarse en artículos de plástico destinadas a la industria del juguete o del hogar. Estos pigmentos de efecto pueden impregnarse en fibras para transmitir una coloración nueva y estética a ropa y alfombras. Las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención pueden usarse para mejorar el aspecto de zapatos, sueldos de caucho y vinilo/mármol, revestimientos exteriores de vinilo y todos los demás productos de vinilo.
Las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención pueden usarse en diversas composiciones, tales como, tintas de impresión, esmaltes de uñas, lacas, materiales termoplásticos y termoestables, resinas naturales y resinas sintéticas. Algunos ejemplos no limitantes incluyen poliestireno y sus polímeros mezclados, poliolefinas, en particular, polietileno y polipropileno, compuestos poliacrílicos, compuestos de polivinilo, por ejemplo, cloruro de polivinilo y acetato de polivinilo, poliésteres y caucho y también filamentos fabricados a partir de éteres de viscosa y celulosa, ésteres de celulosa, poliamidas, poliuretanos, poliésteres, por ejemplo, tereftalatos de poliglicol y poliacrilonitrilo.

Las escamas de perlita revestidas de la presente invención también pueden usarse, por ejemplo, a un nivel del 1 al 10 % en una formulación de pintura automotriz junto con otros pigmentos que pueden incluir dióxido de titanio, estructuras reticulares acrílicas, agentes coalescentes, agua o disolventes. nivel del 20 al 30 % en un concentrado de color plástico en polietileno.
Los pigmentos de efecto de acuerdo con la invención también son adecuados para maquillar los labios o la piel y para la coloración del cabello o las uñas. La invención, en consecuencia, también se refiere a una preparación o formulación cosmética que comprende del 0,001 al 90 % en peso de un pigmento, especialmente un pigmento de efecto, de acuerdo con la invención y del 10 al 99,9999 % de un material de vehículo cosméticamente apropiado, basándose en el peso total de la preparación o formulación cosmética. Dichas preparaciones o formulaciones cosméticas son, por ejemplo, barras de labios, coloretes, bases de maquillaje, barnices de uñas y champús para el cabello. Los pigmentos en preparaciones o formulaciones cosméticas pueden usarse solos o en forma de mezclas. Es, además, posible usar pigmentos de acuerdo con la invención junto con otros pigmentos y/o colorantes, por ejemplo, en combinaciones como se ha descrito anteriormente en el presente documento o como se sabe en preparaciones cosméticas. Las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención contienen preferentemente el pigmento de acuerdo con la invención en una cantidad del 0,005 al 50 % en peso, basada en el peso total de la preparación. Los vehículos adecuados para las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención incluyen los materiales habituales utilizados en dichas composiciones.
Las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención pueden estar en forma de, por ejemplo, barras, pomadas, cremas, emulsiones, suspensiones, dispersiones, polvos o soluciones. Ellos son, por ejemplo, barras de labios, preparaciones de rímel, coloretes, sombras de ojos, bases de maquillaje, delineadores de ojos, polvo o barnices de uñas. Si las preparaciones están en forma de barras, por ejemplo barras de labios, sombras de ojos, coloretes o bases de maquillaje, las preparaciones consisten en una parte considerable en componentes grasos, que pueden consistir en una o más ceras, por ejemplo ozoquerita, lanolina, alcohol de lanolina, lanolina hidrogenada, lanolina acetilada, cera de lanolina, cera de abejas, cera de candelilla, cera microcristalina, cera de carnauba, alcohol cetílico, alcohol estearílico, manteca de cacao, ácidos grasos de lanolina, vaselina, vaselina filante, mono, di o triglicéridos o ésteres grasos de los mismos que sean sólidos a 25 ºC, ceras de silicona, tales como metiloctadecano-oxipolisiloxano y poli(dimetilsiloxi)estearoxisiloxano, monoetanolamina de ácido esteárico, colofano y derivados de los mismos, tales como abietatos de glicol y abietatos de glicerol, aceites hidrogenados que son sólidos a 25 ºC, glicéridos y oleatos de azúcar, miristatos, lanolatos, estearatos y dihidroxiestearatos de calcio, magnesio, circonio y aluminio. El componente graso también puede consistir en una mezcla de al menos una cera y al menos un aceite, en cuyo caso son adecuados los siguientes aceites, por ejemplo: aceite de parafina, aceite de purcelina, perhidroescualeno, aceite de almendras dulces, aceite de aguacate, aceite de Calophyllum, aceite de ricino, aceite de sésamo, aceite de jojoba, aceites minerales que tienen un punto de ebullición de aproximadamente 310 ºC a aproximadamente 410 ºC, aceites de silicona, tales como dimetilpolisiloxano, alcohol linoleico, alcohol linolénico, alcohol oleílico, aceites de granos de cereales, tales como aceite de germen de trigo, lanolato de isopropilo, palmitato de isopropilo, miristato de isopropilo, miristato de butilo, miristato de cetilo, estearato de hexadecilo, estearato de butilo, oleato de decilo, glicéridos de acetilo, octanoatos y decanoatos de alcoholes y polialcoholes, por ejemplo de glicol y glicerol, ricinoleatos de alcoholes y polialcoholes, por ejemplo, de alcohol cetílico, alcohol isoestearílico, lanolato de isocetilo, adipato de isopropilo, laurato de hexilo y octil dodecanol. Los componentes grasos en dichas preparaciones en forma de barras en general pueden constituir hasta el 99,91 % en peso del peso total de la preparación.
Las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención puede comprender adicionalmente componentes adicionales, tales como, por ejemplo, glicoles, polietilenglicoles, polipropilenglicoles, monoalcanolamidas, cargas poliméricas, inorgánicas u orgánicas no coloreadas, conservantes, filtros UV u otros adyuvantes y aditivos habituales en la cosmética, por ejemplo, un di o triglicérido natural o sintético o parcialmente sintético, un aceite mineral, un aceite de silicona, una cera, un alcohol graso, un alcohol Guerbet o éster del mismo, un ingrediente activo cosmético funcional lipófilo, incluyendo filtros de protección solar o una mezcla de dichas sustancias. Un ingrediente activo cosmético funcional lipófilo adecuado para cosméticos para la piel, una composición de ingrediente activo o un extracto de ingrediente activo es un ingrediente o una mezcla de ingredientes que está aprobado para la aplicación dérmica o tópica. Los siguientes pueden mencionarse a modo de ejemplo:

sustancias que sirven para limpiar la piel, tales como aceites, jabones, detergentes sintéticos y sustancias

antitranspirantes a base de sales de aluminio o sales de cinc, desodorantes que comprenden sustancias
desodorantes bactericidas o bacteriostáticas, por ejemplo triclosán, hexaclorofeno, alcoholes y sustancias
catiónicas, tales como, por ejemplo, sales de amonio cuaternario, y absorbentes de olor, por ejemplo Grillocin®
(combinación de ricinoleato de cinc y diversos aditivos) o citrato de trietilo (opcionalmente en combinación con un
antioxidante, tal como, por ejemplo, butil hidroxitolueno) o resinas de intercambio iónico; ingredientes activos que ofrecen protección contra la luz solar (filtros UV): ingredientes activos adecuados son
sustancias de filtro (filtros solares) que son capaces de absorber la radiación UV de la luz solar y convertirla en
calor; dependiendo de la acción deseada, se prefieren los siguientes agentes protectores frente a la luz: agentes
protectores frente a la luz que absorben selectivamente la radiación UV de alta energía que provoca quemaduras
solares en el intervalo de aproximadamente 280 a 315 nm (absorbentes de UV-B) y transmite el intervalo de
longitudes de onda más largas, por ejemplo, de 315 a 400 nm (intervalo UV-A), así como agentes protectores

del 0,1 al 5 % en peso. Las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención también pueden usarse para la coloración del cabello, en cuyo caso se usan en forma de champús, cremas o geles que se componen de las sustancias de base empleadas convencionalmente en la industria cosmética y un pigmento de acuerdo con la invención. Las preparaciones y formulaciones cosméticas de acuerdo con la invención se preparan de manera convencional, por ejemplo, mediante mezcla o agitación de los componentes juntos, opcionalmente con calentamiento, de manera que las mezclas se fundan.
Se ilustran adicionalmente diversas características y aspectos de la presente invención en los ejemplos a continuación. Estos ejemplos se presentan para mostrar a un experto en la materia cómo operar dentro del ámbito de la presente invención. A menos que se indique lo contrario en los siguientes ejemplos y en cualquier otro sitio en la memoria descriptiva y las reivindicaciones, todas las partes y porcentajes son en peso, las temperaturas son en grados centígrados y las presiones son la atmosférica o próximas a ella.
Ejemplos
Ejemplo 1
Una suspensión de 215 g de perlita (tamaño de partícula promedio de 30 micrómetros) en 1785 ml de agua destilada se calentó a 83 ºC y el pH se ajustó a 1,4 con HCl. Después se añadió una solución de 50 g de SnCl4 al 20 % a 3,2 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después de agitar durante 60 minutos, se añadieron 36 g de una solución de TiCl4 al 40 % a 3 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después se usó NaOH para elevar el pH a 3,0 antes de que se añadiera una solución de FeCl3 al 39 % a 1,2 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después de que se añadieran 320 g de FeCl3, la suspensión se filtró, se lavó y se calcinó a 850 ºC. El producto resultante tenía un color bronce que se muestra en la FIGURA 1.
Ejemplo 2
Este ejemplo se realizó como en el Ejemplo 1, excepto porque se añadieron 335 g de FeCl3. El producto resultante tenía un color de interferencia de cobre que se muestra en la FIGURA 2.
Ejemplo 3
Este ejemplo se realizó como en el Ejemplo 1, excepto porque se añadieron 360 g de FeCl3. El producto resultante tenía un color de interferencia rojizo que se muestra en la FIGURA 3.
Ejemplo Comparativo 4
Una suspensión de 125 g de perlita (tamaño de partícula promedio de 30 micrómetros) en 2606 ml de agua destilada se calentó a 80 ºC y el pH se ajustó a 3,0 con HCl. Se añadió una solución de 206 g de FeCl3 al 39 % a 1,6 ml/min con uso de NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. La suspensión se filtró, se lavó y se calcinó a 650 ºC. El producto resultante tenía un color bronce, pero el Fe2O3 precipitó principalmente junto a las escamas de perlita, en lugar de como un revestimiento sobre la perlita. Esto se muestra en la FIGURA 4.
Ejemplo Comparativo 5
Este ejemplo se realizó como en el Ejemplo 4, pero se añadieron 240 g de FeCl3 al 39 %. El producto resultante tenía un color rojizo, pero el Fe2O3 precipitó principalmente junto a las escamas de perlita, en lugar de como un revestimiento sobre la perlita. Esto se muestra en la FIGURA 5.
Ejemplo Comparativo 6
Una suspensión de 183 g de perlita (tamaño de partícula promedio de 30 micrómetros) en 1817 ml de agua destilada se calentó a 74 ºC y el pH se ajustó a 1,5 con HCl. Después se añadió una solución de 51 g de SnCl4 al 20 % a 0,8 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después de agitar durante 30 minutos, se usó NaOH para elevar el pH a 3,2 antes de que se añadiera una solución de FeCl3 al 39 % a 0,56 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después de que se añadieran 466 g de FeCl3, la suspensión se filtró, se lavó y se calcinó a 850 ºC. El producto resultante tenía un color rojizo. Cuando se formuló en forma de un revestimiento decorativo, gran parte del revestimiento de Fe2O3 se agrietó y se descamó de la superficie de perlita. Esto se muestra en la FIGURA 6.
Ejemplo 7
Una suspensión de 125 g de perlita (tamaño de partícula promedio de 30 micrómetros) en 1250 ml de agua destilada se calentó a 80 ºC y el pH se ajustó a 1,4 con HCl. Después se añadió una solución de 58,75 g de SnCl4 al 20 % a 1,77 ml/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después de agitar durante 30 minutos, se añadieron 209 g de una solución de TiCl4 al 40 % a 1,6 ml/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Después se usó NaOH para elevar el pH a 3,2 antes de que se añadieran 10 g de una solución de FeCl3 al 39 % a 1,0 g/min con NaOH utilizado para mantener el pH. Una pequeña muestra de la suspensión se filtró, se lavó y se calcinó a 850 ºC. La adición de 10 g y el muestreo se repitió 7 veces más. Se creó una serie de productos con colores que variaban de un color arena claro a un color naranja dorado.
