Abstract

Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Phosphatieren von Metalloberflachen, vorzugsweise von legierungsverzinkten Stahlband-Oberflächen, durch Behandeln derselben im Tauchen oder Spritztauchen mit sauren, wässrigen Lösungen, die Magnesium-, Phosphat- und Nitrationen und zur weiteren Verbesserung der Schichtbildung ggf. weitere Ionen ausgewählt aus Ammonium-Ionen, Alkalimetallionen und/oder Fluorid-Ionen enthalten können, wobei man gleichzeitig die Werkstücke kathodisch mit einem Gleichstrom behandelt. Hierdurch werden Phosphatschichten erzeugt, die bessere Korrosionseigenschaften besitzen als die hinlänglich bekannten Trikationphosphatierungen. - a) mit Phosphatierlösungen arbeitet, die die folgenden Komponenten enthalten:
- PO4 3--Anionen im Bereich von 2 bis 50 g/l,
- NO3--Anionen im Bereich von 0,1 bis 60 g/l,
- Mg2+-Kationen im Bereich von 0,1 bis 20 g/l,
- b) wobei man die folgenden Bedingungen einhält:
- pH-Wert der Phosphatierlösungen im Bereich von 1,0 bis 5,0,
- Temperatur der Phosphatierlösungen im Bereich von 10 bis 80 °C,
- Behandlungsdauer im Bereich von 1 bis 300 sec,
- c) und wobei man ferner während der Phosphatierung die Werkstücke kathodisch mit einem Gleichstrom einer Dichte im Bereich von 1 bis 150 mA/cm2 behandelt.

Mit anderen Worten heißt dies, dass die kathodische Gleichstrombehandlung der Werkstücke während der Phosphatierung nur in entsprechenden, speziellen Phosphatierlösungen, die Magnesium-, Phosphat- und Nitrationen enthalten, wie sie vorstehend im Einzelnen definiert sind, zu dem erwünschten Ziel führt. Wenn im Zusammenhang mit der vorliegenden Erfindung von Metalloberflächen die Rede ist, so werden darunter Werkstoff-Oberflächen aus Eisen, Stahl, Zink, Aluminium sowie Legierungen des Zinks oder des Aluminiums verstanden. Als Beispiele für Aluminium-Oberflächen und deren Legierungen seien Reinaluminium-, AlMg- und AlMgSi-Werkstoffe genannt. Als Legierungsbestandteile des Zinks sei beispielhaft Eisen, Nickel oder Kobalt angeführt. Unter dem Begriff Stahl wird un- bis niedrig-legierter Stahl verstanden, wie er beispielsweise in Form von Blechen für den Karosseriebau Verwendung findet. Auch legierungsbeschichtete Stähle, die beispielsweise mit Zink/- Nickel-Legierungen oberflächenvergütet sind, zählen hierzu. Insbesondere eignet sich das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zum Phosphatieren von elektrolytisch oder schmelztauchverzinkten Stahlbandoberflächen. Die Verwendung von verzinktem Stahl, speziell elektrolytisch verzinktem Stahl in Bandform, hat in den letzten Jahren sehr an Bedeutung gewonnen. Hierbei umfasst der Begriff "verzinkter Stahl" sowohl Verzinkungen durch elektrolytische Abscheidung als auch durch Schmelztauch-Applikation und bezieht sich generell auf sogenannte "Reinzinkschichten" als auch auf bekannte Zinklegierungen, insbesondere Zink/Nickel-Legierungen.For the purposes of the present invention, it is essential that all of the parameters listed above are observed when carrying out the phosphating process. Die zu behandelnden Werkstücke werden für die Phosphatierbehandlung kathodisch geschaltet, wobei als Gegenelektrode vorzugsweise eine Elektrode aus Edelstahl Verwendung findet. Auf die Angabe von geeigneten Spannungswerten für den Gleichstrom, der im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfindung Verwendung finden soll, wird bewusst verzichtet, da unter Berücksichtigung der unterschiedlichen Leitfähigkeiten der Phosphatierbäder einerseits und der geometrischen Anordnung der Elektroden andererseits ein unterschiedlicher Zusammenhang zwischen Strom und Spannung bestehen kann. Darüber hinaus sind für den Bildungsmechanismus der Phosphatierschichten Konzentrationsgradienten entscheidend, welche durch die Stromdichte und nicht durch die Badspannung bestimmt werden. - Behandlungsdauer im Bereich von 2 bis 90 Sekunden, beispielsweise 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85 oder 90 Sekunden.

In diesem Zusammenhang ist es erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt, dass man mit Phosphatierlösungen arbeitet, die zusätzlich einfache oder komplexe Fluorid-Anionen im Bereich von 0,01 bis 2 g/l, vorzugsweise von 0,1 bis 1,5 g/l, enthalten. Bei der Phosphatierung von Oberflächen von Stahl oder Zink bzw. verzinktem Stahlband, das nicht Aluminium-legiert ist, beispielsweise elektrolytisch verzinkter Stahl der Sorte (ZE), ist die Anwesenheit von Fluorid-Anionen nicht erforderlich, jedoch stört die Anwesenheit von Fluorid-Anionen das erfindungsgemäße Phosphatier-Verfahren auch in diesen Fällen nicht. Die Fluorid-Anionen können erfindungsgemäß auch in Form komplexer Fluorverbindungen, beispielsweise Tetrafluoroborat oder Hexafluorosilicat, eingesetzt werden. In verschiedenen Ausführungsformen ist daher die Verwendung von Phosphatierbädern bevorzugt, in denen die Menge an komplexen Fluoridanionen, vorzugsweise SiF6 2--Anionen, im Bereich von 0,1 bis 2 g/l, bevorzugt im Bereich von 0,5 bis 1,5 g/l liegt. Wie bereits ausgeführt, ist für die optimale Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens die Einhaltung aller vorstehend genannten Parameter von wesentlicher Bedeutung. Hierzu zählt unter anderem der angegebene Bereich des einzuhaltenden pH-Wertes. Sollte der pH-Wert des Phosphatierbades nicht im angegebenen Bereich liegen, so ist es erforderlich, das Phosphatierbad auf pH-Werte im angegebenen Bereich durch Zugabe von Säure, beispielsweise Phosphorsäure, oder aber durch Zugabe einer Lauge, beispielsweise Natronlauge, einzustellen. Sofern in den nachstehenden Beispielen Werte zum Gehalt der Phosphatierlösungen an freier Säure bzw. an Gesamtsäure angeführt sind, so wurden diese in der in der Literatur beschriebenen Art und Weise ermittelt. Die sogenannte Punktzahl an freier Säure wird dementsprechend definiert als die Anzahl ml von 0,1 N NaOH, die zur Titration von 10 ml Badlösung gegen Dimethylgelb, Methylorange oder Bromphenolblau erforderlich ist. Die Punktzahl der Gesamtsäure ergibt sich hiernach als die Anzahl ml von 0,1 N NaOH, die bei der Titration von 10 ml Badlösung unter Verwendung von Phenolphthalein als Indikator bis zur ersten Rosafärbung erforderlich ist. Die erfindungsgemäßen Phosphatierlösungen weisen in der Regel Punktzahlen an freier Säure im Bereich von 0,5 bis 4 und an Gesamtsäure im Bereich von 10 bis 40 auf.As already stated, compliance with all of the above-mentioned parameters is essential for the optimal implementation of the method according to the invention. Vor der eigentlichen Phosphatierungsbehandlung muss die zu behandelnde Metalloberfläche vollständig wasserbenetzbar sein. Hierzu ist es im Allgemeinen erforderlich, die zu behandelnden Metalloberflächen nach an sich bekannten und im Stand der Technik hinreichend beschriebenen Verfahren zu reinigen und zu entfetten. In verschiedenen Ausführungsformen ist weiterhin bevorzugt, dass man die zu phosphatierenden Werkstücke zuvor einer an sich bekannten Aktivierungs-Vorbehandlung, insbesondere mit titanhaltigen Aktivierungslösungen, unterwirft. Im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfindung ist es ferner bevorzugt, nach einer Spülung der gereinigten und entfetteten Werkstücke mit Wasser, vorzugsweise mit vollentsalztem Wasser, die zu phosphatierenden Werkstücke einer an sich bekannten Aktivierungs-Vorbehandlung zu unterwerfen. Insbesondere werden in diesem Kontext titanhaltige Aktivierungslösungen eingesetzt, wie sie beispielsweise in
Im Anschluss an diese Aktivierungsbehandlung erfolgt dann das eigentliche Phosphatierverfahren; die phosphatierten Metalloberflachen werden dann nachfolgend erneut mit Wasser, wiederum bevorzugt mit vollentsalztem Wasser, gespült. Im bestimmten Fällen kann es von Vorteil sein, in einer nachfolgenden Verfahrensstufe die so erzeugten Phosphatschichten zu passivieren. Eine solche Passivierung ist immer dann sinnvoll und von Vorteil, wenn die nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren phosphatierten Metalloberflachen anschließend lackiert oder auf andere Weise mit organischen Materialien beschichtet werden. Typische geeignete Passivierungen sind chromfreie saure wässrige Zusammensetzungen auf der Basis wasserlöslicher komplexer Fluoride der Elemente Zr, Ti, Hf und/oder Si.
