Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing filling elements (110) for filling up empty spaces in packaging and a corresponding filling element itself. The invention provides for such filling elements (110) to be produced by separating out individual hollow protuberances from known upholstery mats (100) with protuberances of this type. The cut-out protuberances are then each used as such a filling element.

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing filling elements for filling up empty spaces in packaging. In addition, the application relates to the filling elements themselves.

In the prior art, therefore, Styrofoam flakes are known as a pourable filling material for filling up empty spaces in shipping cartons. However, styrofoam is considered to be environmentally harmful.

Such cushions consist at least partially of recycled fiber molded parts. Such mats with a special absorbency for absorbing moisture from the ambient air are known, for example, from the Honywell property right EP 1 806 297 .

Schließlich sind Faserformteile als Füllmaterialien mit Korrosionsschutzmittel bekannt aus der deutschen Gebrauchsmusterschrift DE 20 2017 003 456 U1 .Finally, molded fiber parts are known from the German utility model as filling materials with anti-corrosion agents DE 20 2017 003 456 U1 .

The invention is based on the object of providing an alternative method for producing pourable filling elements for filling up empty spaces in packaging and corresponding alternative corresponding pourable filling elements themselves.

This object is achieved by the method claimed in claim 1. Accordingly, the filling elements are produced from a cushion mat with protuberances by separating the individual hollow protuberances from the cushion mat, the separated protuberances each forming one of the filling elements. The hollow protuberances that have been cut out are advantageously pourable as individual filling elements. The filling elements produced in this way can advantageously be disposed of as cardboard or can be reused. Unlike Styrofoam, they are not harmful to the environment.

The invention is described in detail below with reference to figures in the form of exemplary embodiments. In all figures, the same technical elements are denoted by the same reference symbols.
  • Figure 1 shows the upholstery mat 100 with the protuberances 110 in a perspective view.
  • Figure 2 shows the cushion mat 100 in a plan view.

Die Ränder der Füllelemente sind dann gradlinig begrenzt; siehe Figur 4.According to a first exemplary embodiment, the filling elements, ie the hollow protuberances 110, are separated from the cushion mat 100 by cutting them out with a wave cut, ie a cut with a wave-shaped or sawtooth-shaped edge; please refer Figure 3 . Due to the wave cut at its edge, the individual pourable filling elements can interlock with one another after being filled into a packaging. This has the advantage that the position of the filling elements within the packaging relative to one another is maintained by the toothing and therefore the object to be packaged remains firmly fixed in the packaging. Alternatively, the individual filling elements can also be separated from the padding by straight cuts. The edges of the filling elements are then delimited in a straight line; please refer Figure 4 .

The above-mentioned object of the invention is also achieved by a filler element 110 produced according to the method according to the invention. The filling element 110 is typically conical or pyramidal, in particular frustoconical or truncated pyramidal.

The filling element 110 is a hollow molded fiber part, which is preferably made from waste paper. The production from waste paper offers the advantages mentioned above including the environmentally friendly disposal.

Furthermore, the filling element 110 can also be formed from an absorbent material which is suitable for absorbing a liquid which, for. B. from a defective container, such as a leaky lid of a padded bottle in the filling elements, or to absorb moisture, in particular from the ambient air, in each case within the packaging. Such absorbent material offers the advantage that the object to be packaged is then in particular also protected against corrosion because the absorbent material keeps the liquid or moisture away from the object. To a certain extent, the already known waste paper is also suitable as a molded fiber material for absorbing moisture. The provision of an anti-corrosion agent in or on the filling elements would, however, improve the protection against corrosion even further.

Finally, at least some of the protuberances 110 in the cushion mat 100 and thus the filling elements 110 can have one or more blocking elements 120 in their hollow interior; see also the Figures 3 and 4th . The at least one blocking element advantageously prevents the filling elements from stacking one inside the other when they are used as bulk material for filling up empty spaces in cardboard boxes. In this respect, the blocking elements 120 ensure a large volume and the buffer effect of the bulk material or the filling elements. The blocking elements can, for example, be ribs, as in FIGS Figures 3 and 4th shown, or act around bars. In principle, the blocking elements can be shaped as desired in the interior of the filling elements.
