Definitions
- the invention describes the use of an aqueous preparation based on waxes and polymer dispersions, which is applied to textile surfaces, woven fabrics, scrims, knitted fabrics, fibers, nonwovens and knitted fabrics and to leather in order to protect the material, to reduce the loss of mass under stress and thus improving the abrasion resistance or abrasion resistance.
- Needle fleeces are generally single or multi-layer textile surfaces that consist of a solidified fiber fleece.
- the synthetic fibers polyester, polyamide and polypropylene are mainly used in the manufacture of nonwovens, to a limited extent with the addition of cellulose or animal hair.
- Needle fleeces are produced with a needling machine, which compacts the fiber and fiber padding layer using needles. Then the needle felt is mechanically and chemically or thermally bonded.
- Needle fleece is very hard-wearing and, thanks to the fiber mix, is insensitive to dirt.
- the quality of the wear layer is through the needle penetration density / m 2 is determined. It is between 1 and 4 million per square meter, the denser the better.
- Substances such as pure polyurethanes, coarse-grained, high-melting polyethylenes, oily silicones or titanium carbides and combinations thereof show no or only marginal improvements in the abrasion behavior of textiles.
- the compounds mentioned are not in aqueous form and therefore cannot be applied by processes customary in the textile industry, such as padding processes, spray application, or foam paste application.
- U.S. 4,874,663 A describes how abrasion-resistant fabric can be woven from essentially untwisted polyester or polyamide yarn and treated with an overfinish composition to achieve improved abrasion resistance.
- the overfinishing composition comprises effective amounts of a particular crystallizable copolymer consisting essentially of linear polyethylene terephthalate segments and polyoxyethylene terephthalate segments, a particular polyethylene glycol ester or alcohol and sodium dialkylnaphthalene.
- US 2008/241532 A1 discloses a composition for yarns, fibers or filaments which can be deposited on these yarns, fibers or filaments in order to improve the properties of these yarns, fibers or filaments, in particular the abrasion resistance.
- the disclosure also relates to a method for producing these yarns, fibers or filaments as well as a rope which comprises these yarns, fibers or filaments, and their use.
- U.S. 4,767,646 A describes various aqueous overfinishing compositions and yarns treated therewith and processes for producing moisture-abrasion-resistant cordage from the yarn.
- a yarn treated with the compositions described has improved wet abrasion resistance.
- Such yarns are ideal for heavy rope and other industrial rope applications where abrasion resistance and strength in wet and dry conditions are desirable.
- the product should be in aqueous form and it should be possible to apply it using processes customary in the textile industry, such as padding processes, spray application or foam paste application.
- the product should not have any negative effects on other technological properties of the substrate such as color, graying, soiling and feel. It is also required that the necessary, temporary, superficial protective functionalization, which is absolutely necessary for protection during transport and thus for the completion of the manufacturing process, is not adversely affected.
- the wax dispersions consist of waxes based on natural, semi-synthetic, synthetic waxes. Natural waxes are to be differentiated into mineral, vegetable and animal waxes, all of which can be used according to the invention. Vegetable waxes are, for example, Caranauba or Japan wax, mineral waxes, for example ceresin or montan waxes (raw montan waxes, acid waxes, ester waxes, partially saponified ester waxes, emulsifier-containing ester waxes, fully saponified montan waxes). Beeswax and lanolin are examples of animal waxes.
- Synthetic waxes are those based on polyalkylene (polyethylene, polypropylene, polyolefin waxes), silicone waxes, polyol ether esters, Fischer-Tropsch waxes, oxidized PE and HDPE waxes, paraffins, amide waxes such as ethylene bisstearoyldiamide.
- Semi-synthetic waxes are chemically modified waxes from native sources, such as hydrogenated jojoba waxes and sasol waxes.
- the polymer dispersions contain polymers and / or copolymers as individual components or in mixtures from the groups of polyacrylates and polyurethanes.
- Aqueous dispersions with water fractions of 20-95% by weight in each case are prepared from the waxes mentioned as well as from the polymers according to the respective prior art and methods known to the person skilled in the art. It is advantageous to provide formulations according to the invention with the lowest possible water fractions in order to save transport costs and to have to use as little energy as possible for drying.
- water-based systems also have the advantage of having very low VOC values and being ecologically more sustainable.
- VOC is the abbreviation for volatile organic compounds and is a collective term for organic, i.e. carbon-containing substances that are highly volatile or are already present as a gas at low temperatures (e.g. room temperature).
- aqueous preparations used according to the invention based on a mixture of wax and polymer dispersion are used by means of standard applications in textile-technical processes, forced applications, in particular coating, Finishing by padding, spray processes, foam paste application, single thread application and / or dyeing, but also applied to the textile substrates by exhaust processes.
- suitable processes such as padding, foam or paste application and spray processes, latex can be applied to the rear in the same work step to strengthen the solidification of the material.
- All textile surfaces, woven fabrics, scrims, knitted fabrics, nonwovens and knitted fabrics and leather can be treated with the preparation according to the invention as substrates in order to improve their abrasion resistance or abrasion resistance.
- the product was applied in the form of an unstable foam using a foam pad.
- the goods were passed vertically through a foam padding from top to bottom.
- As a foamer 7 g / l Tubicoat AOS were added to the liquor in each case and the foam liter weight was adjusted to 40 g / l.
- TL 52442 compliant Dilour fleece This is a needle fleece made of spinneret-dyed polyester fibers, with 11dtex, which has been thermomechanically fixed.
- the abrasion resistance of the finished goods was tested using a Taber Rotary Abraser 5135 available from Taber Industries, North Tonawanda, USA in accordance with DIN standard DIN EN ISO 5470.
- Test series 1 Concentration series (according to the invention)
- Tables 1a-1d show that from formulation 4, which, with its total solids concentration of 20%, corresponds to a use amount of 200 g / l, the average percentage weight loss in the Taber test is in the range of 1% or less. Compared to unequipped goods, this means an improvement of 65% and more.
- Tables 2a-2d using formulations 7 and 14 not according to the invention, show that improvements in the area of a mixture cannot be achieved either by using the wax dispersion alone or by using the polymer dispersion. It can also be seen that significant improvements in abrasion can only be achieved by combining the two individual components according to the invention. The best results are achieved with formulations 9-13, which cover the range of the mixing ratio of wax / polyurethane dispersion between approx. 3: 1 and 1: 3.
- Test series 3 Investigation of further additives such as polyethylene dispersions and an emulsion based on polydimethylsiloxane. In test series 3, the effects of the melting point of the waxes and that of emulsions on PDMS are examined.
- Tables 3a-3c show that the formulations 15, 19 and 20 not according to the invention show almost no or only insignificant abrasion improvements compared to the raw material. This leads to the conclusion that neither polyethylene dispersions based on HD waxes nor the addition of PDMDS emulsions show any effect in terms of improving abrasion.
- recipe 16 which is based on a wax dispersion with LD polyethylenes, the average abrasion is improved, but only by approx. 45% compared to the raw material.
- Minimal weight loss due to abrasion in the Taber test is obtained with formulations 17 and 18. Both formulations contain waxes or paraffins with melting points below 80 ° C.
- Tables 4a-4b show that recipes 21-23 based on wax dispersions in combination with hydrophilic polyurethane dispersions and two exemplarily selected acrylate dispersions also provide a clear improvement in the Taber abrasion resistance.
- the dispersions that form rather soft films on drying, such as Arristan CPU and Tubicoat A 17 show better results than those that form rather hard films such as Tubicoat A 41.
- the selection of the wax dispersion seems to have a greater influence than that of the Polymer dispersion.
- Test series 5 Use of the products not according to the invention as individual components (not according to the invention)
- Tables 5a-5d clearly show that none of the tested products, as individual components, provides an improvement in abrasion resistance that exceeds 50% compared to the raw material. As a result, the products as individual components do not even come close to the values of the formulations according to the invention, which provide improvements in Taber abrasion resistance of in some cases over 80% compared to the raw material.

Description
Beispielhaft sollen hierfür die Publikationen: "Study of the abrasion resistance in the upholstery of automobile seats" von I. Jerkovic, J. Pallares und X. Capdevilla in AUTEX Reaserch Journal Vol.10, No1 März 2010 Seite 14-20), sowie "Investigation on abrasion resistance of the automotive seats fabrics" von F. Goksel et al in Proceedings of the Aachen-Dresden International Textile Conference (2008), Volume 2nd, GOKS/1-GOKS/6 Publisher: DWI an der RWTH Aachen e.V., Aachen, Germany, genannt werden.
So beschreibt
- In
