Claims (16)

  1. Method for the formation of a box (C) from a blank (1) comprising a succession of four main rectangular panels (3, 4, 5, 6) ending in a gluing tongue (7), connected to each other by first fold lines parallel to each other or by intermediate panels, namely a first central fold line (8) or a first central intermediate panel (20), two first lateral fold lines (9, 10) or two lateral intermediate panels (21, 22) and a first tongue fold line (11) or an end lateral panel (23), and including a set (12) of lateral flaps (13) connected to one side of said succession of panels by second fold lines (14) perpendicular to the first fold lines, in order to form the bottom of the box,
    characterised in that
    - the blank (1) is extracted by suction from a storage magazine (30),
    - the blank is transported horizontally over a support (43) having an upper edge (45) of V-shaped or substantially V-shaped cross-section and faces which correspond to the main panels and which are inclined relative to the horizontal by a given angle α, so that the so-called reference first central fold line (8) or central intermediate panel (20) is opposite said edge (45),
    - the blank (1) is deposited on the support (43) so that the reference fold line (8) or intermediate panel (20) coincides or substantially coincides with said edge (45),
    - next the blank is applied to a polygonal mandrel (47, 103) of which the upper edge coincides and/or is an extension of the upper edge of the support, said mandrel having a shape complementary to that of the box, applying the panels adjacent to said reference first fold line or intermediate panel to the upper faces opposite the mandrel and applying the previously glued end panels and tongue (7) to the lower faces opposite said mandrel, in order to form a tubular box body which is angled relative to the horizontal,
    - the bottom of the box (C) is formed by folding and applying the flaps to each other after gluing,
    - the box (C) which is thus formed at an angle is ejected,
    - it is set straight, then transferred to a filling station.
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the blank (1) is deposited on a support (43) having or delimiting faces which correspond to the main panels and which are inclined by an angle of between 30° and 60° relative to the horizontal.
  3. Method according to claim 2, characterised in that the angle α is 45°.
  4. Method according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the first reference fold line (8) or intermediate panel (20) of the support is deposited by releasing the blank which falls onto the upper edge (45) by gravity.
  5. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that the reference first fold line (8) or intermediate panel (20) is deposited on the upper edge (45) of the support (47), by guiding the blank by friction over the top of the edge.
  6. Method according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the blank (1) is deposited at a first station for deposition on the support, the blank is transferred by gluing it and the tubular body of the box and the bottom are formed at a second shaping station on the mandrel, before it is ejected.
  7. Method according to claim 6, characterised in that, in order to eject the box, a thrust is applied to the shaped bottom, and in order to set it straight it is caused to fall onto an inclined plate (63), it is lifted while tilted with a fork lift (64) and it is tilted by pushing it laterally onto a horizontal upper end plate (65) in order to make it horizontal, before again tilting it to the vertical onto a transfer mat (62).
  8. Method according to any one of claims 6 and 7, characterised in that the panels adjacent to said first central fold line (8) are applied to the upper faces opposite the mandrel, and the previously glued end panels and tongue are applied to the lower faces opposite said mandrel, by two hinged arms (120, 121).
  9. Machine for the formation of a box (C) from a blank (1) comprising a succession of four main rectangular panels (3, 4, 5, 6) ending in a gluing tongue (7), connected to each other by first fold lines parallel to each other or by rectangular intermediate flaps, namely a first central fold line (8) or a first central intermediate panel (20), two first lateral fold lines (9, 10) or two lateral intermediate flaps (21, 22) and a first tongue fold line (11) or an end lateral panel, and including a set (12) of lateral flaps (13) connected to one side of said succession of panels by second fold lines (14) perpendicular to the first fold lines, in order to form the bottom of the box, characterised in that it includes
    - means (33) for extracting the blank by suction from a storage magazine (30) and transporting the blank (1) horizontally over a support (43, 92),
    - said support (43) having a V-shaped or substantially V-shaped upper edge (45) and adjacent faces which correspond to the main panels and which are inclined relative to the horizontal, said means for extracting the blank and transporting it being arranged so that the so-called reference first central fold line (8) or central intermediate panel (20) is opposite said edge (45, 104),
    - means (73) for controlling deposition of the blank on the support, so that the reference fold line (8) or intermediate panel (20) coincides or substantially coincides with said edge,
    - means for shaping the box coinciding with, or forming an extension of, the support including a polygonal mandrel (47, 103) having a shape complementary to that of the box,
    - means (115, 116) for gluing the flaps and the gluing tongue,
    - means (120, 121) for applying the panels adjacent to said reference first fold line or intermediate panel to the upper faces opposite the mandrel, and for applying the previously glued end panels and tongue to the lower faces opposite said mandrel, in order to form a tubular box body angled relative to the horizontal,
    - means (134) for placing the flaps flat in order to form the bottom of the box by folding and application of the flaps to each other after gluing,
    - means (112) for ejecting the box which is thus formed at an angle,
    - means for setting the box straight and transferring said box to a filling station.
  10. Machine according to claim 9, characterised in that the mandrel is composed of a frame comprising three parallel edges (104, 105) fixed in relation to each other, and a movable edge (107) mounted on an ejector piston belonging to the ejection means.
  11. Machine according to claim 10, characterised in that the edges are composed of an upper central edge (104) of inverted V section, the angles of the V being 45° relative to the horizontal, two lateral edges (105) which are adjustable relative to the upper central edge, and a lower edge (107) integral with a movable and removable jig (108).
  12. Machine according to any one of claims 9 to 11, characterised in that the edges have cut corners.
  13. Machine according to any one of claims 9 to 12, characterised in that it includes a first station (D) for deposition on the support (43), where the blank is released by the extraction means (30) onto a first part of the support, means (48) for transferring the blank (1) in order to transport the blank to a second shaping station (F) on a second part of the support comprising said mandrel, where the tubular body of the box and the bottom are shaped, gluing means allowing adhesive lines to be deposited while the blank is transported from the depositing station to the shaping station, and means for ejecting the box from the mandrel.
  14. Machine according to any one of claims 9 to 13, characterised in that the means (112) for ejecting the box include thrust means on the inside of the bottom.
  15. Machine according to any one of claims 9 to 14, characterised in that the means for setting the box straight comprise an angled plate (63) for receiving the ejected box, which is at an angle to the horizontal, a fork lift (64) for lifting the angled plate from a first lower receiving position to a second upper position for making it horizontal, a first lateral thrust means arranged to push the box, when the angled plate is in the upper position, onto a horizontal upper end plate (65), in order to make said box horizontal, and a second lateral thrust means perpendicular to the first one to make said box vertical on a support arranged to transport it towards a packaging station.
  16. Machine according to any one of claims 9 to 15, characterised in that it comprises two hinged arms (120, 121) arranged to apply the panels adjacent to said first central fold line or the central intermediate panel to the upper faces opposite the mandrel, and to apply the previously glued end panels and tongue to the lower faces opposite said mandrel.
