Definitions
- the present invention relates to an organic light-emitting device.
- OLED organic light emitting device
- Luminescence radiator with the electromagnetic energy is generated from electrical energy.
- the OLED has at least one organic active layer in which the electromagnetic radiation is formed.
- the active layer is disposed between an anode and a cathode.
- the anode injects holes into the active layer while the cathode injects electrons.
- the injected holes and electrons each travel (under the influence of an externally applied electric field) to the oppositely charged electrode and produce electroluminescent emission upon recombination in the active layer.
- An OLED has the particular advantage that it can be used as a large-scale and homogeneous light source. This allows completely new applications as lighting.
- commercially available OLEDs such as Applicant's "ORBEUS CDW-031” product, still have a relatively low luminous efficiency. In the future, however, significantly higher yields and luminance should be achieved. With the size and higher luminance, however, the problem arises that the OLED heats up inside. This creates thermal effects, such as aging of the
- Temperature distribution over a large-area device is not homogeneous, it can be different local
- the present invention is the problem
- Heat conducting layer for dissipating heat, which arises during an electroluminescent process.
- the heat-conducting layer has a thermal conductivity of more than 200W / mK,
- the common basic idea for the embodiments is that in the organic light-emitting device, a heat conducting layer for dissipating or distributing heat is introduced.
- the heat conducting layer has a particularly good thermal conductivity. This one is bigger than that
- Aluminum is, for example, at 200W / mK.
- carbon-based materials are used as the heat-conducting material. These can be, for example, carbon nanotubes
- CNT carbon nano tubes or CNT
- CNT are particularly good thermal conductivity as a material, so that heat generated in the device can be transported well to the outside.
- CNTs are in their electrical properties, the one
- Thermal pad may also contain metals to achieve high thermal conductivity.
- Heat conducting layer in direct contact with the active layer.
- the heat conducting layer can be in direct mechanical or physical contact with the active layer. It can be applied, for example, on the active layer. In this way, heat arising in the active layer can be conducted from the active layer to other regions of the organic light-emitting device in a particularly efficient manner. There is also a particularly efficient homogenization of the heat distribution in the active layer. As a result, for example, aging processes in the active layer proceed homogeneously, so that a luminous image of the organic light-emitting
- Heat-conducting layer preferably has a sufficiently high transparency for the electroluminescent radiation. So a heat homogenization is just in one area
- the heat conducting layer extends in many embodiments to an outside of the device.
- the heat conducting layer couples to a heat sink, for example to a heat sink.
- heat is uniformly distributed only within the device to achieve a uniform, ie homogeneous temperature distribution.
- the organic light emitting device comprises an anode layer and the heat conducting layer is provided as an intermediate layer in the anode layer. This is particularly beneficial because the

- the heat conducting layer comprising the active layer.
- the heat conducting layer is provided as an intermediate layer in the organic functional layer. These embodiments are particularly advantageous because it dissipates heat from the regions of the organic light-emitting device in which heat is often generated.
- electromagnetic radiation is generated by electroluminescence. This is done by the recombination of
- Electron-hole pairs (exitons) and their relaxation can also be carried out by other processes than by emission of electromagnetic radiation, for example by quenching, in which heat is generated. Although these effects are undesirable, they are never completely suppressed.
- To the heat dissipation is through the planteleit Anlagen in the organic functional layer further achieved that just the sensitive organic materials can be cooled particularly well by the structure of the embodiments mentioned; at least that is through the

BESCHREIBUNG DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to an organic light-emitting device.
[0002] Eine organische lichtemittierende Vorrichtung An organic light-emitting device
(organic light emitting device bzw. OLED) ist ein (organic light emitting device or OLED) is a
Luminescence radiator, with the electromagnetic energy is generated from electrical energy. The OLED has at least one organic active layer in which the electromagnetic radiation is formed. The active layer is disposed between an anode and a cathode. At an applied forward potential, the anode injects holes into the active layer while the cathode injects electrons. The injected holes and electrons each travel (under the influence of an externally applied electric field) to the oppositely charged electrode and produce electroluminescent emission upon recombination in the active layer.
An OLED has the particular advantage that it can be used as a large-scale and homogeneous light source. This allows completely new applications as lighting. Currently, commercially available OLEDs, such as Applicant's "ORBEUS CDW-031" product, still have a relatively low luminous efficiency. In the future, however, significantly higher yields and luminance should be achieved. With the size and higher luminance, however, the problem arises that the OLED heats up inside. This creates thermal effects, such as aging of the

BEISPIELHAFTE AUSFÜHRUNGSFORMEN EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS
[0007] Verschiedene Ausführungsformen der organischen lichtemittierenden Vorrichtung haben eine aktive Schicht zur Erzeugung elektrolumineszenter Strahlung und eine Various embodiments of the organic light-emitting device have an active layer for generating electroluminescent radiation and a

As far as optical properties play no special role, other materials, for example, a graphite-containing, thin heat conducting foil can be used. The thermal pad may also contain metals to achieve high thermal conductivity.

Dadurch verlaufen bspw. Alterungsprozesse in der aktiven Schicht homogen ab, so dass ein Leuchtbild der organischen lichtemittierenden Heat conducting layer in direct contact with the active layer. For this purpose, the heat conducting layer can be in direct mechanical or physical contact with the active layer.

In order to remove the heat particularly well, the heat conducting layer extends in many embodiments to an outside of the device. In other embodiments, the heat conducting layer couples to a heat sink, for example to a heat sink. In some embodiments, heat is uniformly distributed only within the device to achieve a uniform, ie homogeneous temperature distribution.
[00012] Dabei weist in einigen Ausführungsformen die In some embodiments, the

Somit wird es möglich, eine gewünschte Wärmeleitschicht a variety of separate sub-areas. These portions may be located at any suitable locations within the organic light-emitting device. Dies ist besonders vorteilhaft, weil die In some embodiments, the organic light emitting device comprises an anode layer and the heat conducting layer is provided as an intermediate layer in the anode layer. This is particularly beneficial because the

The heat conducting layer is provided as an intermediate layer in the organic functional layer. These embodiments are particularly advantageous because it dissipates heat from the regions of the organic light-emitting device in which heat is often generated. In the active layer, electromagnetic radiation is generated by electroluminescence. This is done by the recombination of
However, the relaxation can also be carried out by other processes than by emission of electromagnetic radiation, for example by quenching, in which heat is generated. Although these effects are undesirable, they are never completely suppressed. To the heat dissipation is through the Wärmeleitschicht in the organic functional layer further achieved that just the sensitive organic materials can be cooled particularly well by the structure of the embodiments mentioned; at least that is through the

In some embodiments of these embodiments, the heat conducting layer is provided as a plurality of intermediate layers in the organic functional layer.

In diesem Fall wird die Kathodenschicht 102 vorteilhafterweise ein possible if no radiation is coupled out via the cathode layer 102, since absorption of the radiation in the heat-conducting layer 206 thereby plays no role. In this case, the cathode layer 102 advantageously becomes one

Sie kann aus eine Wärmeleitfolie, beispielsweise aus einer dünnen Graphitfolie bestehen, die auf der Cathode layer is often used because of the high reflection coefficient of aluminum. The heat conducting layer 206 should therefore have a heat transfer coefficient of more than 200 W / mK. It may consist of a Wärmeleitfolie, for example, of a thin graphite foil, which on the

DRITTES AUSFÜHRUNGSBEISPIEL THIRD EMBODIMENT
[00036] Fig. 6 zeigt einen Querschnitt durch ein drittes Ausführungsbeispiel längs der Schnittachse A - A. Das dritte Ausführungsbeispiel unterscheidet sich von dem ersten und dem zweiten Ausführungsbeispiel dadurch, dass die die Fig. 6 shows a cross section through a third embodiment along the section axis A - A. The third embodiment differs from the first and the second embodiment in that the
The sections of the Wärmeleitschicht 206 thereby form intermediate layers which are alternately introduced between the anode layer material. The thickness of the heat conducting layer 206 can be chosen such that it has the optical properties of

Here, too, a use of CNT is particularly suitable because this material is a good electrical conductor with a suitable choice of the structure of the nanotube.
VIERTES AUSFÜHRUNGSBEISPIEL FOURTH EMBODIMENT
[00037] Fig. 7 zeigt einen Querschnitt durch ein viertes Ausführungsbeispiel längs der Schnittachse A - A. Das vierte Ausführungsbeispiel unterscheidet sich von den anderen Fig. 7 shows a cross section through a fourth embodiment along the section axis A - A. The fourth embodiment differs from the other
Ausführungsbeispielen dadurch, dass die Wärmeleitschicht 206 in Form von Zwischenschichten in die organische Embodiments in that the heat conducting layer 206 in the form of intermediate layers in the organic
Function layer 204 is introduced. The intermediate layers can separate individual functional sublayers, such as, for example, the HTL, the active layer or the ETL, or can be embedded in these functional sublayers. Again, because of the optical and electrical properties in particular a material such as CNT can be used.
All mentioned embodiments can be combined with each other in a suitable manner, so that
Sie können beispielsweise auch an andere Wärmesenken, Portions of the heat conducting layer 206 can be provided at all suitable locations of the organic light emitting device 100. These portions are each designed as a heat sink, for example, by extending to an outer portion of the organic light-emitting device 100, so that heat is dissipated to the outside. You can, for example, also to other heat sinks,
beispielsweise an Kühlkörper, thermisch gekoppelt sein. For example, to heatsink, be thermally coupled.
[00039] Insgesamt eignen sich eine Graphitfolie oder CNT als Material der Wärmeleitschicht 206, weil diese damit an allen geeigneten Stellen der organischen lichtemittierenden Overall, a graphite foil or CNT are suitable as the material of the heat conducting layer 206, because they are thus at all suitable locations of the organic light-emitting
