Description

The invention relates to an airbag module for installation in a motor vehicle with an airbag formed from a gas bag fabric and with an inflator for the airbag folded before release, wherein the airbag has at least one adaptive ventilation opening, which in the folded state before inflation of the airbag at least partially in a closed State is maintained, and wherein one with its one end releasably supported on the gas bag module or a vehicle-fixed part and provided with its other, the adaptive ventilation opening cross-end firmly connected to the gas bag tether is provided such that when inflated gas bag before the release of releasably content Erten At the end of the tether the tether tightened by the inflation pressure prevents an opening of the adaptive ventilation opening.
An airbag module with the aforementioned features is known from WO 03/006276 A2. Insofar as the adaptive ventilation opening formed on the generic object is concerned with keeping the ventilation opening closed before and also during the inflation of the airbag and allowing the release of the ventilation opening only at a definable point in time, in the case of the known airbag module a kind of tether provided and secured with its one end in the region of the adaptive ventilation opening on the airbag fabric, which completely covers and closes the ventilation opening in its initial or mounting position, and which is fixed on the other hand at its other end to a module-side holding device, that upon triggering of the holding device, the respective end of the tether is released. The tether has such a dimension that it completely covers the vent opening. The tether is further guided with its free end to the releasable holding device in the form of a detachable bolt and fixed with an end formed loop on the bolt. The length of the tether is dimensioned so that is folded in the airbag of the tether overlapped area of the airbag fabric with the arranged therein and sealed by the tether ventilation opening and thus can not take his stretched position when inflating the airbag. In addition, tear seams are provided for fixing the tether in its mounting position. Only after the activation of the holding device with a release of the fixed thereto end of the tether the tether releases the fabric area having the ventilation opening so that the area of the airbag defined by the tether fully unfolds and the adaptive ventilation opening completely opens due to the stretch of the gas bag fabric , while at the same time the tether is removed from the opening, so that the ventilation opening is released.
The disadvantage associated with the known airbag module is that the arrangement of the tether must be matched to the size of the adaptive ventilation opening according to dimension and attachment; Furthermore, the assembly of the airbag including the tether to be attached thereto in the gas bag is expensive.
The invention is therefore based on the object, in a gas bag module with the generic features, the closure of the adaptive ventilation Opening in front of their separately brought about release in a simple and effective way.
The solution to this problem arises, including advantageous refinements and developments of the invention from the content of the claims, which are adjusted to this description.
The basic idea of the invention is that the adaptive ventilation opening is formed by a slot cut into the airbag fabric, at the two ends of which a design preventing the tearing of the slot under compressive stress is arranged and the adaptive ventilation opening arranged on the inside of the airbag overlapping tether passed through one of the attachment point of its one end with respect to the slot opposite to the gas bag fabric attached securing loop and then continued to the holder on the vehicle-fixed part.
The invention has the advantage that the introduction of the initially closed by the tether adaptive ventilation opening is easy to perform, as far as only a cutting of the airbag fabric and the attachment of the tearing of the slot in compressive stress preventing designs is required. Furthermore, no special requirements are to be placed on the tether in terms of its dimension or attachment in an advantageous manner. It is sufficient if the attached at one end to the gas bag tether extends over the slot-like adaptive ventilation opening and is attached to the other end of the airbag module or a vehicle-fixed part, so that the tether on deployment of the airbag, the emergence of the on the Slot acting tensile load and thus prevents premature opening of the adaptive ventilation opening. If the tether is deliberately released by means of a correspondingly provided device, then the stretching that is made possible by the treadmill that leads through the Tether initially coupled to each other, located on both sides of the slot tissue areas to an opening of the slot and thus to a release of the adaptive ventilation opening. With the additionally provided arrangement of the securing loop has the advantage that a course of the tether at right angles to the course of the slot is ensured, so that the occurrence of lateral forces or transverse force components at an otherwise inclined to the course of the slot adjusting course of the tether at the deployment of the airbag is prevented. Thus, an opening of the slot-like adaptive ventilation opening is reliably avoided until the release of the tether.
According to one embodiment of the invention it is provided that the securing loop consists of a transverse to the direction of the tether and connected at its two outer ends fixed to the airbag fabric fabric strip.
It may be provided in a conventional manner that the end of the tether receiving holder is struck on a lying in the interior of the airbag portion of the airbag module.
In a first embodiment of the invention, the tearing of the slot under pressure stress preventing design consist of a transverse to the longitudinal extent of the slot transverse seam.
However, it is expedient and advantageous for the formation of further embodiments of the invention if the relevant design consists of a stop hole arranged at the end of the slot.
As far as described in a conventional airbag, as well as in the generic text WO 03/006376 A2, in addition to an adaptive ventilation opening and one or more standard ventilation openings are formed, the outflow of the gas even at a below the opening for the In one embodiment of the invention, the adaptive ventilation opening designed in the form of the slot can be combined with at least one additionally provided standard ventilation opening. This is provided according to an embodiment of the invention in that the slot has a length such that set by the tether to the release of the tether closed slot section and at least one inflated when inflated airbag under pressure and a standard ventilation opening forming slot section , When the airbag is inflated, the slot area not held together by the tether first opens and thus forms the standard ventilation opening, while the slot area initially held together by the tether can only open after the tether has been released and thus forms the adaptive ventilation opening. After the complete release of the slot there is a ventilation opening with a correspondingly large cross section.
In the context of such a design of the slot can be provided for different embodiments that the tether overlaps the slot in a central arrangement and form at both ends of the slot each standard ventilation holes or that the tether overlaps the slot in one end and unilaterally in the other end region forms the standard ventilation opening.
In an alternative embodiment, it can be provided with regard to the formation of standard ventilation openings that the desired standard ventilation opening or further standard ventilation openings are formed as openings cut into the airbag fabric from the outset, for which purpose at least one of the embodiments according to the invention is advantageous provided stop holes of the slot can be used by the relevant stop hole is given such a large dimension that this stop hole itself serves as a standard ventilation opening. Thus, the stop hole formed in the form of the standard ventilation opening fulfills a dual function.
For this purpose, it can be provided in different embodiments of the invention that one of the two stop holes is designed as unfolded gas bag as constantly open standard ventilation opening or that both stop holes are formed as unfolded airbag standard open standard ventilation openings.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, it is also provided to combine different configurations with respect to an additional standard ventilation opening, and it can be provided that in a central arrangement of the slot cross-tether the stop hole formed at one end of the slot than unfolded airbag constantly open standard ventilation opening is formed and the other end of the slot forming slot area opens upon pressure to a second standard ventilation opening, which is located under pressure between the ventilation openings located, overlapped by the tether slot area when releasing the tether, so that then a single ventilation opening is formed with a corresponding dimension.
Es zeigen:For further protection against premature opening of the slot, according to one embodiment of the invention, provision may be made for the slot to be overlapped by a tear seam engaging the fabric regions on both sides of the slot. This also prevents opening of the slot in the areas in which standard ventilation openings are to be formed, in any case until the gas bag is inflated by a corresponding internal pressure or a corresponding load pressure. In the drawings, embodiments of the invention are shown, which are described below. Show it:

In the figures 1 and 2, an embodiment is first shown, in which only an adaptive ventilation opening is realized. For this purpose, a slot 1 1 is cut in a fabric area 10 of a not further shown, but in detail known from the generic WO 03/06276 A2 known airbag, which is surrounded in the illustrated embodiment by a circumference surrounding its reinforcing seam 12. It is clear that at a corresponding compressive stress of the cut into the tissue slot expands and thus forms a corresponding opening. In order to prevent tearing of the slit 1 1 cut into the fabric area 10 with corresponding compressive stress Prevent, each stopper holes 21 are attached to both ends of the slot 1 1.
To set a predetermined by the slot 1 1 adaptive ventilation opening a consisting of a fabric strip tether 1 3 is provided, which is fixedly connected at one end 14 by means of an in a slot 1 1 immediately adjacent region attached sewing 15 with the fabric portion 10. From this suturing 15, the tether 13 is continued in a slot 1 1 cross-position and with its free end 16 in a well not shown, but also from the generic WO 03/006276 A2 known manner at a also not shown, arranged in the interior of the airbag airbag module or another vehicle-mounted part holding device connected such that the free end 1 6 of the tether 1 3 can be released due to appropriate signals.
The one directional leadership of the tether 13 after its release accepting securing loop 17 is relative to the slot 1 1 of suturing 1 5 mounted opposite to the fabric portion 10 and consists of the fabric strip 18, which is arranged transversely to the direction of the tether 13 and at its two outer ends is connected by means of fixed stitching 19 with the fabric portion 10. By attaching the safety loop 17, the tether 13 in its the slot 1 1 overlapping position is secured such that the course of the tether 13 is secured approximately at right angles to the course of the slot 1 1 even with a corresponding tensile stress of the tether 13. Thus, the occurrence of acting on the slot 1 1 lateral forces or transverse force components is avoided.
If the free end 16 of the tether 13 released by the holding device, not shown, so the tether 13 pulls in by The expansion of the slot 1 1 caused by the securing loop 17 and thus causing the internal air pressure acting on the airbag fabric does not hinder the opening of the slot 11 to the adaptive ventilation opening 20 shown in FIG. As far as the cohesion of the two separated by the slot 1 1 tissue areas can be improved by a slot 1 1 cross-tear seam to prevent leaks, tears this tear seam, so that in Figure 2, the ends 22 are visible.
Der BereichIn the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3 to 5, the attachment of the adaptive ventilation opening is now combined with the attachment of a standard ventilation opening, such as those standard ventilation openings being present in gas bags of known design. These standard ventilation openings are intended to allow the gas to escape at a corresponding admission pressure of the inflated airbag. In the embodiment shown in Figures 3 to 5, the slot 1 1 is divided into two regions 23 and 24. The area
Der andere Schlitzbereich 24 ist freigehalten, so dass nach Aufblasen des Gassackes bei entsprechender Druckeinwirkung sich dieser Schlitzbereich23 is overlapped by the tether 13 and thus held together, so that in this slot area 23, the adaptive ventilation opening can form. The other slot area 24 is kept free, so that after inflation of the airbag with appropriate pressure, this slot area
In this state, the adaptive ventilation opening is not yet released. This release state is then reproduced in Figure 5, in which the tether 13 is released by releasing the holding device, so that there is a common ventilation opening 26 with a corresponding opening cross-section.
The exemplary embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 6 to 8 differs from the exemplary embodiment previously described with reference to FIGS. 3 to 5 only in that the slot 11 is formed with such a length that on both sides of a central, overlapped by the tether 13 Slot region 23, which forms the adaptive ventilation opening, two slot portions 24 are provided to form a double standard ventilation opening 25, so that after complete release or opening of the slot 1 1 again results in a common ventilation opening, as already indicated in Figure 5.
In the exemplary embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 9 and 10, the attachment of a standard ventilation opening in relation to the exemplary embodiments described with reference to FIGS. 3 to 8 is modified insofar as a slot area is not used as a standard ventilation opening for later expansion, but is a standard from the outset -Ventilationsöffnung 25 is formed by cutting a corresponding opening in the airbag fabric. As far as it is expedient anyway, at the relevant ends of the slot 1 1, as described for Figure 1, to install stop holes 21, the standard ventilation opening 25 is now arranged instead of a stop hole 21, so that the standard ventilation opening 25, the function of the stop hole also takes over. In this respect, it comes in the embodiment according to Figures 9 and 10 to a release of the slot 1 1 in the manner described with respect to Figure 1 with the formation of an adaptive ventilation opening 20, so that when releasing the tether as a result, a common ventilation opening 26 again results, as to Figures 3 to 8 described.
The illustrated in Figures 1 1 and 12 embodiment again differs from the embodiment previously described Figures 9 and 10 only in that analogous to the embodiment of Figures 6 to 8 on both sides of the slot 1 1, the stop holes are formed as standard ventilation openings 25 ,
The embodiment finally shown in FIGS. 13 to 15 shows a combination of the embodiments described above with regard to the attachment of the standard ventilation opening, in which on the one hand, a stop hole as a standard ventilation opening 25 is formed from the outset, while additionally the slot 1 1 has a slot portion 24 for forming a standard ventilation opening under pressure. Here too, upon release of the tether 13 at the end of a common ventilation opening 26 in the form described.
The features disclosed in the foregoing description, the claims, the abstract and the drawings of the subject matter of these documents may be essential individually as well as in any combination with each other for the realization of the invention in its various embodiments.
