Definitions
- the present invention relates to a motor unit for watch movement.
- the driving member is the organ that supplies energy to the rest of the movement to rotate the gear train.
- the drive member is generally in the form of a barrel having a barrel drum, a spiral motor spring or "barrel spring” housed in the barrel drum, a barrel shaft and a barrel lid.
- the barrel drum pivots around the barrel shaft and has a toothing at its periphery which cooperates with the gear train to drive it.
- the inner end of the motor spring is fixed to the barrel shaft which is secured to a ratchet driven by the winding stem of the watch (in the case of a manual winding watch) or by its oscillating weight (in the case of a self-winding watch).
- the outer end of the motor spring is attached to the inner circumferential surface of the barrel drum via a flange which can be fixed or slidable.
- a rotation of the ratchet by the winding stem or the oscillating mass rotates the barrel shaft, which tends the motor spring and thus allows it to accumulate energy.
- the motor spring then progressively restores this energy during its relaxation by rotating the barrel drum.
- the document CH151391 also discloses a watch movement with two barrels-motors.
- the present invention aims to provide a motor for watch movement which includes superimposed motor springs mounted in series and which can be relatively simple and compact.
- a motor for watch movement comprising an axis, a drum and a rotational member mounted on the axis, movable in rotation relative to each other and each comprising a toothing at their periphery, and first and second superposed spiral springs whose outer ends are respectively fixed to the drum and to the rotary member and whose inner ends are connected together to connect the springs in series, characterized in that the drum and the rotary member are nested at least in the area of the peripheral wall of the drum so as to together form a closed box containing the springs.
- the drum cover function is provided by the rotary member, that is to say by a member playing an active role, for example that of a ratchet, in the operation of the motor organ.
- This dual function of the rotary member reduces the number of parts forming the motor member. It also saves the space normally occupied by the barrel covers and thus reduce the overall height of the motor unit.
- the axis is rotatable, the drum and the rotatable member are rotatable relative to the axis, and the respective inner ends of the springs are fixed to the axis.
- the drive member is simple and the space available for the springs in the box is increased while allowing the axis to maintain a diameter sufficient for good mechanical strength.
- the rotary member is a wheel. At least a portion of the surface of the wheel facing the bottom of the drum can be located entirely in the drum and occupy with the axis substantially all the inner diameter of the drum.
- the outer end of the second spring can be fixed to the wheel by means of a flange whose one end is fixed to the outer surface of the last turn of the second spring and the other end is free, and a protruding portion of the wheel clamped between the flange and said outer surface.
- the rotating member is another drum.
- the respective peripheral walls of the drums may comprise complementary recesses allowing the drums to interlock.
- the present invention further provides a watch movement comprising a motor member as defined above.
- the ends of the axis are guided in rotation in bearings provided respectively in the supports (platinum and bridge) of the movement.
- the movement comprises first and second supports (platinum and bridge) in which are located the ends of the axis, the axis comprises a first annular surface on which the drum can be supported, a surface of the first support facing the drum or a surface of the drum facing the first support comprises a second annular bearing whose inner diameter is greater than the outer diameter of the first annular bearing, the axis comprises a third annular bearing on which can s' press the rotary member, and a surface of the second support facing the rotary member or a surface of the rotary member facing the second support comprises a fourth annular bearing whose inner diameter is greater than the outer diameter of the third ring span.
- a motor unit for watch movement is in the form of a cylinder comprising a drum 1, a shaft 2 and a toothed wheel 3.
- the two ends or pivots 4 of the shaft 2 are guided in bearings or stones 5 respectively provided in the plate 6 and the barrel bridge 7 of the movement to allow the shaft 2 to rotate about its imaginary axis 8 relative to the fixed plate 6 and the fixed barrel bridge 7 .
- the drum 1 and the wheel 3 are mounted on the shaft 2 and are rotatable relative thereto around the imaginary axis 8.
- the bottom 9 of the drum 1 comprises a central hole 10 whose wall surrounds and can slide on a cylindrical portion 11 of the shaft 2.
- the wheel 3 comprises a central hole 12 whose wall surrounds and can slide on another cylindrical portion 13 of the shaft 2.
- a ring span 14 of the shaft 2 located in a plane perpendicular to the imaginary axis 8 serves to support a central annular rim 15 of the drum 1 defined by the inner surface of the bottom 9, that is to say its surface facing the wheel 3.
- An annular bearing surface 16 on the inner surface of the plate 6, whose inner diameter is greater than the outer diameter of the bearing surface 14, serves to support the outer surface of the bottom 9 of the drum 1.
- Another annular bearing 17 of the shaft 2 located in a plane perpendicular to the axis 8 serves as a to a central annular flange 18 of the wheel 3 defined by the inner surface of the wheel 3.
- These bearing surfaces 14, 17, 16 and 19 allow easy and stable positioning of the drum 1 and the wheel 3 on the shaft 2.
- the bearing surfaces 16 and 19 could be provided on the outer surface of the bottom 9 of the drum 1 and on the outer surface of the wheel 3, respectively.
- the drum 1 and the wheel 3 are nested, at least in the area of the peripheral wall 22 of the drum 1, to form together a closed box.
- the wheel 3 serves as a cover closing the drum 1.
- the inner surface of the wheel 3 comprises a main annular portion 20 located inside the drum 1 and occupying with the cylindrical portion 13 of the shaft 2 all or almost all the internal diameter of the drum 1.
- a peripheral portion 21 of lesser thickness of the wheel 3 is completely outside the drum 1 and protrudes radially from the peripheral wall 22 of the latter. This peripheral portion 21 carries the toothing 23 of the wheel 3.
- a cylindrical surface 20a of the wheel 3 located opposite the cylindrical inner surface 30 of the wall
- This surface 20a can touch the surface 30 or be slightly disjoint from the surface 30 to avoid friction between the drum 1 and the wheel 3.
- the overlap of the surfaces 20a and 30 forms a baffle which makes anyway difficult the penetration of undesirable elements (dirt, etc.) in the drum 1 or the leakage of a lubricant optionally used in the drum 1.
- a surface of the wheel 3 of the surface type 20a could be located on the other side of the wall 22, that is to say facing the outer surface of the wall 22. This surface of the wheel 3 could be provided as an alternative to the surface 20a or in addition to this surface. this 20a.
- the drum 1 has a toothing 24 at its periphery, more precisely at the periphery of the bottom 9. This toothing 24 is intended to cooperate with the work train to drive it.
- the wheel 3 acts as a ratchet, that is to say it is subjected to the action of a ratchet or equivalent member (not shown) which forces it to turn in one direction.
- the wheel 3 meshes with the crown wheel of the movement driven by the winding stem or (indirectly) with the pinion of an oscillating weight.
- the wheel 3 is not integral in rotation with the shaft 2, as has been explained above.
- the box formed by the drum 1 and the wheel 3 contains first and second motor springs 25, 26 superimposed in the direction of the axis 8 and each consisting of a spring blade wound spirally.
- the spring 25 closest to the bottom 9 of the drum 1 has its inner end 27 which is fixed to a central portion 28 of larger diameter of the shaft 2, called "bung", and its outer end 29 which is fixed to the inner surface 30 of the wall 22 of the drum 1.
- the spring 26 closest to the wheel 3 has its inner end 31 which is fixed to the bung 28 and its outer end 32 which is fixed to the wheel 3.
- fixed here means connections which make the inner ends 27, 31 integral in rotation with the shaft 2 and the outer ends 29, 32 integral in rotation with the drum 1 and the wheel 3, respectively, in the normal direction of rotation drum 1 and wheel 3.
- the winding directions of the springs 25, 26 are opposite.
- Fixing the inner ends 27, 31 of the springs 25, 26 to the plug 28 is made for example by means of respective hooks 33 provided on the plug 28 and which engage in holes 34 formed in the inner ends 27, 31.
- Fixing the outer end 29 of the spring 25 to the inner surface 30 of the wall 22 of the drum 1 can be carried out, in a manner known per se, by means of a fixed or sliding flange 35.
- the flange 35 is slippery, that is to say that it cooperates with one of several notches 36 ( figure 2 ) made in the surface 30 and can pass from one notch 36 to another to temporarily separate the outer end 29 of the drum 1 and slightly relax the spring 25 when the tension of the latter exceeds a determined threshold, this to avoid a spring overvoltage 25.
- the outer end 32 of the spring 26 is fixed to the wheel 3 for example by means of a flange 37 provided on the outer surface 38 of the last turn of the spring 26.
- the downstream end 39 of the flange 37, close to the outer end 32 of the spring 26, is fixed to said outer surface 38 while the upstream end 40 of the flange 37 is free to be spaced from the outer surface 38 by elastic deformation of the flange 37.
- the wheel 3 comprises on its inner surface a circular arc wall 41 coaxial with the central hole 12 and with the toothing 23.
- This wall 41 is placed between the flange 37 and the outer surface 38 of the last turn of the spring 26 from the end 40 of the flange 37 and is held there by the elastic clamping exerted by the flange 37, thus fixing the outer end 32 of the spring 26 to the wheel 3.
- the outer surface 38 of the last turn of the spring 26 and the flange 37 are located in look d e the inner surface 30 of the drum 1 but are not attached.
- the springs 25, 26 are thus connected in series.
- a rotation of the wheel 3 in its single direction of rotation corresponding to the direction of the upstream end 40 at the downstream end 39 of the flange 37, drives the outer end 32 of the spring 26 in the same rotation and arms both.
- springs 25, 26 interconnected by the shaft 2. Thanks to the two springs 25, 26, the motor member according to the invention can store an energy higher than that of a traditional cylinder having only one spring of the size of each of the springs 25, 26 and thus gives the movement increased running time.
- the motor member according to the invention is less bulky than the superposed barrel arrangements because the springs 25, 26 are located in the same drum 1.
- the shaft 2 may have a diameter large enough to be mechanically strong enough without this increasing the radial size of the shaft. 'motor organ. In addition, the friction is reduced. Finally, note that the size is further reduced by the fact that the same piece, the wheel 3, has the dual function of ratchet and cover.
- a washer 42 can be placed between the springs 25, 26, as shown in FIGS. figures 1 and 2 , to separate them and thus to guarantee that their turns do not intermingle.
- This washer not essential in practice, does not need to be fixed in the drum 1, it can be floating. It can also be thinner than the barrel lids used in the prior art.
- the ratchet function could be exerted by the drum 1 rather than the wheel 3.
- the drum 1 which would be driven by the crown wheel or the oscillating weight and which would be subject to the action of a pawl, while the wheel 3 would drive the wheel and would also serve as a cover drum 1.
- the positions of the drum 1 and the wheel 3 could also be reversed, that is to say that the drum 1 could be mounted on the side of the bridge 7 and the wheel 3 on the side of the plate 6.
- the figure 4 shows a motor for watch movement according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- the motor member according to this second embodiment comprises two drums 45, 46 mounted on a shaft 47 being rotatable relative to this shaft 47 and relative to each other.
- the pivots 48 of the shaft 47 are guided in respective bearings provided in the plate and a bridge of the movement to allow the shaft 47 to rotate freely about its imaginary axis 49 relative to the fixed plate and bridge.
- the drums 45, 46 are mounted in opposite directions in the direction of the axis imaginary 49 so that their respective interior spaces face each other and communicate with each other.
- the drums 45, 46 are furthermore imbricated at their peripheral walls 50, 51.
- each wall 50, 51 defines over its entire circumference a recess 52, 53 complementary to the recess 53, 52 of the other wall 51. 50, allowing the walls 50, 51 to overlap in the direction of the imaginary axis 49.
- the surfaces 54, 55 of the walls 50, 51 radially facing one another can be touched or slightly disjointed, for avoid friction between the drums 45, 46 when rotating, the baffle defined by the recesses 52, 53 making anyway difficult entry of undesirable elements (dirt, etc.) inside the drums 45, 46 or the escape of a lubricant possibly used in the drums 45,46.
- the drums 45, 46 thus form a closed box.
- the interior of this box contains first and second motor springs (not shown) superimposed in the direction of the imaginary axis 49 and each constituted by a spring blade wound spirally.
- One of the springs is located in the drum 45 and the other spring in the drum 46.
- the outer end of each spring is fixed in a conventional manner, for example by means of a flange, to the inner surface of the drum. the wall 50 of the drum 45, respectively of the wall 51 of the drum 46.
- the inner end of each spring is fixed to the shaft 47 in a similar manner to the first embodiment, in order to connect the springs in series.
- the flange linking one of the springs to the corresponding drum 45 or 46 can be slippery to prevent overvoltage of the springs in case of excessive winding of the motor member.
- the two springs can be separated by a washer 56.
- the drums 45, 46 each have a toothing 57, 58 at their periphery.
- One of the drums 45; 46 meshes with the cog of the movement to train him.
- the other drum performs the function of ratchet.
- the motor unit according to this second embodiment operates as in the first embodiment.
- the drum 45 is disposed between an annular bearing 59 of the shaft 47 and the platen of the movement.
- the drum 46 is disposed between another annular bearing surface 60 of the shaft 47 and the aforementioned bridge of the movement.
- Spacings 61, 62 provided on the outer surface of the bottom of the drums 45, 46 can be supported on the plate and the bridge, respectively.
- these bearing surfaces 61, 62 extend radially from the central hole of the bottom of the drums 45, 46 which receives the shaft 47.
- the bearing surfaces 61, 62 could be of the same type as in the first embodiment, for to concentrate the friction in a well defined zone.
- drum mounting configurations 45, 46 than that illustrated in FIG. figure 4 could be envisaged, for example a configuration where the shaft 47 would be replaced by a fixed axis and where a connecting element free to rotate about this axis would connect the inner ends of the springs.
- the motor member according to this second embodiment has the same advantages as that according to the first embodiment in terms of simplicity and bulk. It also has, compared to the first embodiment, the advantage of eliminating the risk of friction between the spring 26 and the wall 22 of the drum 1.
