Description

The invention relates to wagons for the transport of motor vehicles, of the type comprising two levels of loading: a lower floor and a movable upper bridge adapted to be placed in an inclined position for loading and unloading vehicles, folding bridges for the crossing vehicles during loading and unloading operations being arranged at the ends of the floor and the moving bridge.

Un tel wagon est décrit dans le document FR-A-2 914 263 .Such a car is described in the document FR-A-2 914 263 .

Due to the great variety of heights of modern motor vehicles, it is necessary to be able to adapt the height of the tunnel constituted by the lower floor and the upper mobile bridge to each type of vehicle transported. On the other hand, the decrease in the ground clearance of these vehicles requires reducing the slope of the moving bridge in the loading ramp position. However, in the existing known wagons, the movable bridge is hinged at a considerable distance from the central part of the wagon, which has the consequence of an inclination incompatible with the passage of the vehicles of low guard on the ground during the transition between the ramp and the horizontal plans. This requires an additional maneuver to lower the level of this high end and remove the threshold thus created or at least bring it back to an acceptable value.

The invention aims to provide wagons that do not have this disadvantage, allow adjustment of the height of the tunnel constituted by the lower floor and the upper movable bridge, and whose operating means of the movable bridge provide ease of setting implementation and increased security.

For this purpose, the invention consists of a wagon for the transport of motor vehicles of the type comprising a lower floor and an upper movable bridge and means for putting the movable bridge in an inclined position for the loading and unloading of vehicles characterized by the movable bridge consists of two parts hinged together, a main part adapted to be inclined towards the floor and an auxiliary part which can be displaced in height while remaining parallel to the horizontal.

With this arrangement, when the movable bridge is inclined for loading or unloading operations, its upper end remains at the moving bridge of the adjacent wagon without creating undesirable threshold and without the need for additional maneuver.

The motor vehicle transport unit represented in figure 1 consists of two identical wagons coupled together. Each wagon is constituted by a chassis 1 resting on two axles 2 and carrying on both sides of a lower floor 3, two intermediate uprights 4 and two end pillars 5 housing the operating devices of a movable bridge 6 Each pair of pillars 5 disposed near one end of said wagon receives the lifting mechanisms of one end of the movable bridge, guiding and positioning thereof during the loading and unloading phases, as well as the adjustment of the height of the lower tunnel defined by the lower floor 3 and the movable bridge 6. The lifting mechanisms of a pair of pillars 5 are coupled together by a linkage so that it is possible to operate simultaneously from one side of the car.

The main deck 7, which extends over most of the length of a car, consists of longitudinal members and sleepers on which floors are welded. The longitudinal members bear on their outer sides rollers 9 and pins 10 which in use rest on a slide 18 belonging to the lifting mechanisms, housed in the pillars 5, and which will be described in more detail in connection with the figure 5 . We observe on the figure 3 a roller 9 is set back from the end of the main bridge which is adjacent to it while an axis 10 is at the end of the main bridge 7 which is connected to the auxiliary bridge 8.

Auxiliary bridge 8 also consists of longitudinal members and cross members on which floors are welded, but it extends over a much smaller length than the main bridge 7. Its length is determined by the distance between the pair of pillars 5 which the support and the end of the coupling devices and buffering carried by the frame on the side of the auxiliary bridge. The auxiliary bridge 8 is hingedly mounted on the end of the main deck 7. On the figure 4 it can be seen that it is equipped with lateral arms 11, carrying at their free end a roller 12. The rollers 12 are intended to come into sliding support on the adjacent pillars 5, as shown in FIG. figure 2 . We also see on the figure 4 the hinge holes 13 which allow the mounting of the auxiliary bridge 8 at the end of the main deck 7, in clevises arranged near the axes 10. Thus, when the lifting mechanism of the end of the main bridge opposite the auxiliary bridge is operated, the main bridge 7 can take an inclined position while the auxiliary bridge 8 remains horizontal, and when the lifting mechanism of the the end of the main bridge adjacent to the auxiliary bridge is operated downhill or uphill, the auxiliary bridge 8 slides vertically in abutment against the corresponding pillars 5 remaining horizontal.

With these provisions, the movable bridge can be used as a loading ramp, be placed in a low position resting on the lower floor 3 when the wagon is to transport high-rise vehicles, and be placed in a plurality of high positions. depending on the desired tunnel height according to the size of the vehicles to be transported.

Each pair of pillars 5 on either side of the chassis 1 houses the operating mechanisms of the movable bridge 6 by means of a winch housed under the frame 1. figure 5 it is seen that a cable 14, connected to the winch, passes first on a first pulley 15 at the base of the pillar 5, then on a second pulley 16 located in the upper part of the pillar 5, then in a third pulley 17 carried by a slider 18, and finally in a fourth deflection pulley 19 located in the upper part of the pillar 5 facing the second pulley 16. The end of the cable 14 is fixed on a counterweight 20 sliding in an oblique housing defined by a sheet 21. For this purpose, the counterweight 20 has an oblong slot 22 engaged on an axis 23 carried by the pillar 5. The slide 18 carries along one of its vertical sides a series of superimposed cleats 24, 9 in number on the figure 5 , cooperating with a lock 25 whose bolt is actuated by a finger 26 secured to a rod 27 returning to an operating handle 28 disposed at the bottom of the pillar 5. The upper side of the slide 18 forms a seat for one of the rollers 9 or a axes 10 of the main bridge 7, here a roller 9 adjacent to the end of the main bridge 7 opposite the auxiliary bridge 8. A window 30 is located in the outer wall of the pillar 5 at the counterweight 20. The handles 28 of a pair of pillars 5 are interconnected by a rod passing through the frame 1 so that the operation of a single handle simultaneously actuates the two locking systems of the mobile bridge lifting mechanisms housed in two associated pillars 5. The drum operating winch is engaged with a square accessible on the pillar 5 for a crank or a pneumatic wrench. The outer face of the pillar 5 comprises position marks of the movable bridge 6 which correspond to the stops 24 of the slide 18.

Le contrepoids est en position basse dégagée de l'axe 23, position repérable de l'extérieur à travers la fenêtre 30.We will now describe the operation of the movable bridge 6 using the means above. In the transport position, the mobile bridge 6 rests with its rollers 9 on the slides 18 housed in the pillars 5, said slides being locked by the latches 25 engaged on the cleats 24. The counterweight is in the low position disengaged from the axis 23, locatable position from the outside through the window 30.

To move from a high position to a lower position the winch is maneuvered slightly upwards so that the traction on the cables 14 relieves the support of the locks 25 on the cleats 24. Then with the help of the handle 28 it controls the erasure of the lock. The winch is then maneuvered down to obtain the desired position by guiding itself on the marks carried by the pillar 5. Using the handle 28 the locks 25 are reengaged on the catches 24. Finally, the maneuver is winch to relax the cable 14 until the free position of the counterweight 20 reappears in the window 30.

To move from a low position to a higher position, the winch is maneuvered up to the desired position, and then maneuvered down to relax the cable 14 as above. It is not necessary to actuate the handle 28, the locks 25 automatically engaging the tabs 24 in the upward direction thanks to the beveled shape of their bolts and springs, visible on the figure 5 .

When it is desired to use the mobile bridge 6 as a loading or unloading ramp for motor vehicles at the top, only the winch and the associated locks are operated at the end of the main bridge 7 opposite the auxiliary bridge 8. When one wants to adjust the height of the tunnel or put the movable bridge 6 in the support position on the floor 3, we operate the two winches and locks associated with each end of the main deck 7. In all cases the auxiliary bridge remains horizontal. This avoids the creation of unwanted thresholds. The use of cable hoisting mechanisms associated with the locking means described above provides great simplicity and safety of use.

In a transport unit consisting of two coupled wagons such as that shown on the figure 1 two wagons according to the invention are coupled together so that their auxiliary bridges 8 are adjacent.
