More specifically, the present invention relates to a bicycle front derailleur assembly, which is designed to be attached to a seat tube of a bicycle frame and which includes chain dropping prevention part to prevent the chain from falling off the inner side of the smallest front sprocket.

  • the projecting surface 56a has a maximum overall vertical height (i.e., the second overall vertical height V 2 ) measured in a direction parallel to the seat tube reference plane RP that is larger than the maximum overall width W of the projecting surface 56a measured in a direction perpendicular to the seat tube reference plane RP.
  • the second (maximum) overall vertical height V 2 is slightly larger than the first (rearward most) overall vertical height V 1 and the third overall vertical height V 3 .
  • the second (maximum) overall vertical height V 2 is measured at a location less than 23 millimeters (i.e., between the seat tube reference plane RP and the forward plane FP) from the seat tube reference plane RP measured perpendicularly and forwardly from the seat tube reference plane RP.
  • the maximum overall vertical height of the projecting surface 56a is preferably at least about 15 millimeters and preferably measured at a location less than 23 millimeters from the seat tube reference plane RP.
  • the chamfer surfaces 56b and 56c extend from the projecting surface 56a toward the fixing body 34 in an inclined arrangement as best shown in Figures 7-9 .
  • the upper chamfer surface 56b extends along an arc at an upper end of the projecting surface 56a, while the rearward chamfer surface 56c extends vertically along a rearward most edge of the projecting surface 56a.
  • the upper chamfer surface 56b and the rearward chamfer surface 56c each have a width measured transverse thereto that is larger than 1 millimeter, preferably between 2 and 3 millimeters.
  • An additional, very small chamfered edge surface (not numbered but illustrated in Figures 7-9 ) is provided at the forward most edge of the projecting surface 56a, with a width less than 1 millimeter.
  • the bicycle 10 utilizes a dual suspension frame in which the front derailleur 12 will not normally move vertically relative to the front chain rings 20a, 20b and 20c when the rear wheel travels upwardly.
  • the front derailleur 12 is mounted to a section of the seat tube portion 14 that is fixedly attached to relative to the bottom bracket mounting portion BB, as best seen in Figure 2 .
  • the position of the front derailleur 12 may change relative to the front chain rings 20a, 20b and 20c.

  • the projecting surface 356a preferably has an overall vertical height lying substantially in a single plane measured in a direction parallel to the seat tube reference plane RP that is between about 16 millimeters and about 17 millimeters.
  • the chamfered surfaces 356b, 356c and 356d preferably have transverse widths larger than 1 millimeter, preferably 2-3 millimeters, such the projecting portion 354 has an overall width larger than 3 millimeters, preferably 4-5 millimeters.
  • the bicycle front derailleur 412 of this fourth embodiment is identical to the front derailleur 12 of the first embodiment, except that the front derailleur 412 of this fourth embodiment includes a modified fixed member 422.

  • the projection part 436 overall, is longer in a vertical direction than the projection parts discussed above (except as illustrated in Figures 12 and 15 ), and the forward mounting hole 458a is formed in the integrated front mounting/projecting portion 450/454. This principle of a vertically longer projection part can be applied to any of the above embodiments as discussed briefly above with respect to Figures 12 and 15 .
  • the projecting surface 456a has an overall vertical height lying substantially in a single plane measured in a direction parallel to the seat tube reference plane that is at least about 30 millimeters in an area between the seat tube reference plane and 23 millimeters measured perpendicularly and forwardly from the seat tube reference plane.
  • the vertical height of the projecting surface 456a varies from about 33 millimeters to about 41 millimeters.
  • the area below the forward mounting hole 458a is most effective for preventing the chain C from falling off the smallest front chain ring 20a.
  • forward, rearward, upward, above, downward, below and transverse refer to those directions of a bicycle in its normal riding position, to which the front derailleur 12 is attached, except as explained otherwise herein. Accordingly, these terms, as utilized to describe the front derailleur 12 in the claims, should be interpreted relative to the bicycle 10 in its normal riding position, except as explained otherwise herein.
  • the term “configured” as used herein to describe a component, section or part of a device includes hardware and/or software that is constructed and/or programmed to carry out the desired function.
  • the term “comprising” and its derivatives, as used herein are intended to be open ended terms that specify the presence of the stated features, elements, components, groups, integers, and/or steps, but do not exclude the presence of other unstated features, elements, components, groups, integers and/or steps.

Claims (12)

  1. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette, comprenant :
    un dérailleur avant de bicyclette (12) configuré pour être raccordé de façon rigide à un tube de selle (14) d'un cadre d'une bicyclette (10) ; et
    au moins un élément d'assemblage de tube de selle (38) configuré et agencé pour être raccordé au tube de selle (14) ; le dérailleur avant (12) comprenant :
    un élément fixe (22) comprend un corps de fixation (34) et une partie en saillie (36) accouplée de façon fixe au corps de fixation (34) ; dans lequel la partie en saillie (36) est raccordée de façon fixe au corps de fixation (34), et dans lequel le corps de fixation (34) comporte au moins un trou débouchant de raccordement de cadre (48a, 48b) configuré et agencé pour recevoir un élément d'assemblage de tube de selle (38) à travers celui-ci, et le corps de fixation (34) comprend une partie d'assemblage (44) avec un plan de référence de tube de selle (RP) qui s'aligne avec un axe central longitudinal (X) du tube de selle (14) lorsqu'il est accouplé à celui-ci, le plan de référence de tube de selle (RP) étant perpendiculaire à un plan central longitudinal (P) de la bicyclette (10), et la partie en saillie (36) comporte une surface saillante (56a) configurée pour être décalée axialement par rapport au corps de fixation (32) vers un plateau avant le plus petit (20a) d'un pédalier de la bicyclette (10), la surface saillante (56a) possédant une hauteur verticale totale (V) se trouvant sensiblement dans un seul plan, mesurée dans une direction parallèle au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), qui est supérieure à 10 millimètres dans une zone entre le plan de référence de tube de selle (RP) et 23 millimètres, mesurée perpendiculairement et vers l'avant à partir du plan de référence de tube de selle (RP) ;
    un guide chaîne (28) configuré pour se déplacer entre une position rétractée et une position étendue par rapport au corps de fixation (34) ; et un ensemble tringlerie (30) accouplé entre le corps de fixation (34) et le guide chaîne (28) afin de déplacer le guide chaîne (28) entre la position rétractée et la position étendue,
    caractérisé en ce que l'au moins un élément d'assemblage de tube de selle (38) est utilisé pour raccorder de façon fixe la partie en saillie (36) au corps de fixation (34), et
    dans lequel la surface saillante (56a) possède une hauteur verticale totale maximum (V), mesurée dans une direction parallèle au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), qui est supérieure à une largeur totale maximum (W) de la surface saillante (56a), mesurée dans une direction perpendiculaire au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP).
  2. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la partie en saillie (36) est sous forme d'élément séparé du corps de fixation (34).
  3. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la partie en saillie (36) est raccordée de façon fixe au corps de fixation (34) en utilisant une paire des éléments d'assemblage de tube de selle (38, 38).
  4. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel le corps de fixation (34) comporte une paire de trous débouchants de raccordement de cadre (48a, 48b) configurés et agencés pour recevoir une paire des éléments d'assemblage de tube de selle (38, 38) à travers ceux-ci, qui sont configurés et agencés pour être raccordés au tube de selle (14).
  5. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la partie en saillie (36) est formée d'un seul tenant avec le corps de fixation (34) sous forme d'élément unitaire monobloc.
  6. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la partie en saillie (36) comprend une surface de chanfrein qui s'étend à partir de la surface saillante (56a) vers le corps de fixation (34).
  7. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 6, dans lequel la surface de chanfrein s'étend le long d'un arc à une extrémité supérieure de la surface saillante (56a).
  8. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la hauteur verticale totale maximum (V) est mesurée à un emplacement inférieur à 23 millimètres du plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), mesurée perpendiculairement et vers l'avant à partir du plan de référence de tube de selle (RP).
  9. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 1 ou 8, dans lequel la hauteur verticale totale maximum (V) est au moins environ 15 millimètres.
  10. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la hauteur verticale totale (V) se trouvant sensiblement dans un seul plan, mesurée dans une direction parallèle au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), est au moins environ 15 millimètres dans une zone entre le plan de référence de tube de selle, et 23 millimètres mesurée perpendiculairement et vers l'avant à partir du plan de référence de tube de selle (RP).
  11. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon la revendication 10, dans lequel la hauteur verticale totale (V) se trouvant sensiblement dans un seul plan, mesurée dans une direction parallèle au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), est au moins environ 30 millimètres dans une zone entre le plan de référence de tube de selle (RP), et 23 millimètres mesurée perpendiculairement et vers l'avant à partir du plan de référence de tube de selle (RP).
  12. Ensemble dérailleur avant de bicyclette selon une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans lequel la surface saillante (56a) possède une largeur inférieure à environ 1 millimètre, mesurée dans une direction perpendiculaire au plan de référence de tube de selle (RP).
