A lateral stop device for a mattress laid on a slatted bed base, said device comprises a L-shaped lateral stop element (2), consisted of a sole plate (26) extended by a return (27) arranged at right angle against which the edge of the mattress is intended to come into contact, associated with a base plate (1) provided with means adapted for its fixation to a couple of slats (36a, 36b) of said bed base, which are arranged in the same horizontal plane, each having a so-called "outer" edge (36'a, 36'b) and a so-called "inner" edge (36"a, 36"b), said inner edges (36"a, 36"b) of said slats being spaced apart from each other to form an inter-slat space (37), characterized in that the base plate (1) and the stop element (2) are two distinct parts, said base plate (1) is in the form of a planar body (3) intended to be positioned on the upper face of said slats (36a, 36b), and whose end edges (3') are provided with members (8) adapted for the hooking of the "outer" edges (36'a, 36'b) of said slats (36a, 36b), the central part of said planar body (3) being provided with an orifice (10) intended to come within the inter-slat space (37), and intended for the passage of a locking tenon (28) arranged on said sole plate (26) of said stop element (2), said tenon (28) includes means that are capable of allowing, after its insertion into said orifice (10) of the base plate (1), on the one hand the removable locking of said stop element (2) on said base plate (1), and on the other hand the removable locking of said base plate (1) on said couple of support slats (36a, 36b).

The stop device according to claim 2, characterized in that the base plate body (3) includes an elongated orifice (10), the stop sole plate (26) including a circular tenon foot (31), extended at right angle by two diametrically opposed wings (33) forming the end head (32) of the tenon (28), said lateral wings (33) acting as a locking cam during the rotational placement of the stop element (2) on the support base plate (1).
  4. The stop device according to any one of claims 2 or 3, characterized in that it includes means (15, 16, 19, 35) for the rotational locking of the stop element (2) on its support base plate (1), when said stop element (2) is in active position with its return (27) suitable placed in the plane of the mattress edge with which it is intended to cooperate.
  5. The stop device according to claim 4, characterized in that the means for the rotational locking of the stop element (2) on its support base plate (1) consist in at least one protruding pin (35) arranged on the lower face of the stop sole plate (26), said pin (35) is intended to fit into a locking mortise (16) arranged in the upper face (6) of said base plate (1).

The stop device according to claim 5, characterized in that the protruding pin (35) cooperates with a fitting groove (15) arranged in the upper face (6) of the base plate (1), one of the ends of said groove (15) forming the mortise (16) for the fitting of said pin (35) in association with a fitting ramp (19).
  7. The stop device according to claim 6, characterized in that it includes two couples grooves (15, 16, 19)/locking pins (35).
  8. The stop device according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the inner face of the hooking members (8) of the base plate (1) includes hooking teeth (22) intended to rest against the "external" edges (36'a, 36'b) of the support slats (36a, 36b).
  9. The stop device according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the base plate (1) includes a member (24) for the hooking of the stop element (2) when the latter is not attached to said base plate (1) by its locking tenon (28).
  10. The stop device according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the base plate (1) and the stop element (2) are made of a transparent plastic material.
  11. A slatted bed base equipped with lateral stop devices according to any one of claims 1 to 10.
