Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general field of bedding accessories; it relates more particularly to a device for lateral stop for mattress.
- This type of abutment member for example described in the documents FR-2,752,707 and FR-2 822 040 , makes it possible to ensure correct positioning of the mattress on its support base, in particular on a slatted base.
- the document FR-2 822 040 described above a stop member forming an L-shaped profile, which is fixed on a single cross member of the bed base via a suitable elastic element.
- the present invention proposes an improvement to this kind of device, to facilitate its adjustment in positioning along the length of the support slats, and to improve its locking or locking characteristics on said slats.
- the stop device according to the invention is of the type described in the document FR-2,752,707 , that is to say comprising an L-shaped lateral stop element consisting of a base extended by a return to the square against which the edge of the mattress is intended to come into contact, associated with a base provided with means adapted to be fixed on a pair of slats of the bed base, the slats of said pair being disposed in the same horizontal plane, each having a so-called “external” song and a so-called “internal” song, which "internal" songs of said slats are spaced from each other to form an inter-slat space.
- the base and the stop element are in two separate parts;
- the base is in the form of a flat body intended to be positioned on the upper face of the slats, and whose side edges are provided with fastening members on the "outer" edges of said slats;
- the central part of this planar body is provided with an orifice coming in the bulk of the inter-slat space, intended for the passage of a locking pin arranged on the base of the abutment element, and this tenon comprises means which, after insertion into said orifice of the base, on the one hand, allow the removable locking of the stop member on its support base, and on the other hand allow the removable locking of this base on the couple support slats.
- the locking pin of the stop element comprises a foot and an end head.
- the face of this head oriented towards the base of the abutment element is separated from said base by a distance approximately corresponding to the thickness of the plane body of the base.
- This stud head is further adapted, after insertion of said tenon into said orifice of the base, and rotation of this tenon around the axis of said orifice under the effect of a rotational action on said an L-stop element, firstly to pass directly under a part of the base body in order to block this base body between said abutment base and said end of the locking post, and secondly to come into contact with "internal" songs facing the two support slats, with a slight spacing action of said slats, to ensure the locking of the base on said pair of slats.
- the base body advantageously comprises an elongated orifice
- the abutment base comprises a circular tenon foot, extended to the bracket by two diametrically opposed wings forming the end head of said tenon, said lateral wings forming locking cam office during the positioning by rotation of the stop element on the support base.
- the stop device preferably comprises means which ensure the rotational locking of the stop element on its support base, when said stop element is in the active position, with its return properly placed in the plane of the edge of the mattress with which it is intended to cooperate.
- the corresponding locking means advantageously consist of at least one projecting lug arranged on the lower face of the abutment base, which lug is intended to fit into a locking mortise arranged in the upper face of the base.
- the protruding lug cooperates with a recess groove formed in the upper face of the base, one end of said groove constituting the mortise of embedding this lug, in association with an installation ramp.
- the stop device comprises two pairs of grooves / locking lugs as defined above.
- the inner face of the attachment members of the base comprises attachment teeth intended to bear against the "outer" edges of the support slats, to improve the locking position of the base.
- the base comprises a member which allows the attachment of the stop element when it is not secured to said base by its locking pin. This feature allows the pre-assembly of the stop devices on the receiving bed, without the stop elements protrude above the upper face of said bed base, in particular for reasons of space.
- the lateral stop device comprises a base 1 and a stop element 2, independent of one another, able to be secured together in a removable manner.
- the base member 1 is illustrated in isolation on the Figures 1 to 5 .
- the abutment element 2 is illustrated in isolation on the Figures 6 to 11 .
- the joining of the two organs 1 and 2 is illustrated on the Figures 12 to 18 .
- the base member 1 comprises a planar body 3 (or substantially plane) of generally rectangular shape, of longitudinal axis 4 and transverse axis 5.
- the planar body 3 comprises a top face 6 and a bottom face 7, separated by a thickness h at the center ( figure 5 ).
- the planar body 3 comprises a through orifice 10.
- This orifice 10 has a generally elongated shape whose major axis 11 extends on the transverse axis 5 of the planar body 3, and whose minor axis 12 is extends on the longitudinal axis 4.
- the orifice 10 comprises in fact a circular central portion 13 extended by two diametrically opposite lateral extensions 14, oriented towards the long longitudinal sides 3 "of the planar body 3 ( figure 3 ).
- the upper face 6 of the planar body 3 comprises two substantially quarter-circular grooves 15 which each extend substantially from the longitudinal axis 4, to the transverse axis 5.
- the end of each quarter-circular groove 15 forms a kind of mortise 16 delimited, on one side, by the end 17 of the corresponding groove 15, and on the other side, by the end 18 d An embedding ramp 19. The function of these grooves 15 will be explained later.
- Each attachment structure 8 consists of a return 20 extending the short side 3 'of the planar body 3, from the end of which extend two hooks 21 facing inwards.
- the distance between the bottom face 7 of the flat body 3 and the face opposite the hooks 21 is slightly greater than the thickness of the slats of the bed base on which the stop device is intended to be positioned.
- the inner face of the returns 20 has thin ribs 22 which extend over their entire height and which form a kind of protruding teeth. In this case a tooth 22 is centered opposite each hook 21.
- one of the longitudinal sides 3 "of the planar body 3 comprises an extension 24 in the general shape of a frame provided with two upper hooks 25 extending in facing relation, parallel to said longitudinal side 3". The function of this attachment member 24 will be explained later.
- the base 1 of the stop device is made by injection molding of suitable plastic material.
- the lower face of the planar body 3 comprises different stiffening ribs integrated in its thickness.
- the base 1 is made of transparent material to give it an original aesthetic appearance.
- the abutment element 2 shown separately on the Figures 6 to 11 , has a general L-shaped consisting of a base 26 extended by a return to the square or substantially square 27. In its free end portion, the lower face of the base 26 extends downwardly, by a one-piece stud 28 whose shape is adapted to allow detachable locking of the abutment member 2 on the base 1.
- the return to the square 27 is meanwhile intended to form the abutment member itself of the mattress, that is to say that in the active position it is intended to be positioned in front of one of the side edges of the mattress.
- the locking pin 28 comprises a cylindrical foot 31 extended by an end head 32.
- the diameter of the foot 31 is very slightly less than the diameter of the circular portion 13 of the orifice 10 of the base 1.
- the head of end 32 is in fact made of two wings 33 which extend at right angles to the axis of the foot 31. These wings 33 are diametrically opposed at the end of the foot 31; they are oriented transversely to the major axis 34 of the base 26 and each occupy a surface corresponding approximately to the surface of the lateral extensions 14 of the orifice 10 of the base 1.
- the ends of the wings 33 are spaced a distance a ( figures 8 and 10 )
- the distance d between the faces facing the base 26 and the wings 33 corresponds to the thickness h of the central part of the plane body 3 of the base 1.
- the lower face of the base 26 of the abutment element 2 comprises two lugs 35, positioned on either side of the tenon foot 31 ( figures 7 and 9 ). As will be seen below, these lugs 35 are intended to cooperate with the grooves 15 of the plane body 3 of the base 1, and more particularly with their mortise 16, to lock in position the stop element 2 on said base 1.
- the abutment element 2 is also produced by injection molding of adapted plastics material; a transparent plastic material is preferably used.
- the stop device according to the invention consisting of the base 1 and of the abutment element 2 is intended to be positioned on a pair of slats 36 a, 36 b in the manner illustrated in Figures 12 to 18 .
- the slats 36 are conventional slats of a slatted bed base; they are held at their ends by suitable support structures (not shown) integral with the longitudinal members of the bed, for example two-slat suspension ball joints.
- the base 1 is latched in the desired position on the upper faces of two bars 36 a, 36 b disposed in the same horizontal plane and spaced apart from each other to form an inter-space slats 37.
- the planar body 3 of the base 1 covers the upper surfaces of the two slats 36 a and 36 b.
- the corresponding snap-fastening is achieved without any particular effort thanks to the fastening structures 8 which hook onto the "outer" edges 36 ' a , 36' b of the pair of slats 36.
- the distance between the two fastening structures 8 vis-à-vis, and the attachment thickness, are adapted accordingly.
- the orifice 10 of the base 1 is then positioned in the bulk of the inter-slat space 37; its major axis 11 lies substantially on the median axis of said inter-slat space 37.
- the abutment element 2 is presented above the base 1, the longitudinal axis 34 of its base 26 extending parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis 4 of said base 1.
- the tenon 28 of the abutment element 2 is then introduced into the orifice 10 of the base 1 ( Figures 13 and 14 ).
- the foot 31 of the tenon 28 passes into the central circular portion 13 of the orifice 10, and the wings 33 of the end head 32 pass into the lateral portions 14 of said orifice 10; the lugs 35 then come into abutment in the bottom of the grooves 15, substantially on the longitudinal axis 4. It is then sufficient to rotate the abutment element 2 about the axis of the orifice 10, as illustrated in FIGS. Figures 15 and 16 .
- the lateral wings 33 of the tenon head 32 are positioned facing a portion of the lower face 7 of the planar body 3 of the base 1, thus preventing any possibility of axial unmounting.
- the lugs 35 pass through the grooves 15 until they reach the embedding ramp 19, before coming to fit into the end mortises 16.
- the lateral wings 33 circulate in the inter-slat space 37, and their ends gradually come into abutment against the "internal" edges 36 " a , 36" b opposite the pair of slats 36. They act then in the manner of cams that tend to spread slightly the two slats one of the other.
- the distance a between the ends of the wings 33 is slightly greater than the normal distance between the "internal" edges 36 " a and 36" b of the slats 36.
- the spreading force of the wings 33 on the pair of slats 36 is adapted to obtain a good locking of the base 1 on said pair of slats, without stressing the material too much at the level of the attachment structures 8 (which support the spacing efforts implemented).
- the locking of the base 1 is optimized by the presence of the "gripping" teeth 22 resting on the "outer" edges 36 ' a , 36' b of the slats 36.
- a side stop device is obtained which can be very easily locked in any position along the length of the pair of support slats. Any adjustment of this positioning can be made very quickly and without significant effort, this regardless of the type of ball used to support the battens slats.
- This type of device can be prepositioned on the bed base, for example at the factory, with the base 1 snapped onto the pair of support slats 36, as described above in relation to the Figures 12 to 18 , and with the stop element 2 hooked on the lateral hook 24 of the base, this in the manner illustrated on the figure 19 .
- this attachment is achieved by means of one of the lateral arms 30 of the abutment element 2 which snap between the two hooks 25 of the attachment structure 24 of the base 1, adapted and spaced accordingly.
- the base 26 of the stop element 2 extends substantially in the plane of the base body 3, and the return 27 is oriented downwards, in the thickness of the base, to limit the overall size.
- the user receiving the box spring can then very simply unhook the stop members 2 and properly lock on their support base 1, after a possible adjustment of positioning of the latter on the ends of the pairs of slats.

Description
The present invention relates to the general field of bedding accessories; it relates more particularly to a device for lateral stop for mattress.
The present invention proposes an improvement to this kind of device, to facilitate its adjustment in positioning along the length of the support slats, and to improve its locking or locking characteristics on said slats.
According to the invention, the base and the stop element are in two separate parts; the base is in the form of a flat body intended to be positioned on the upper face of the slats, and whose side edges are provided with fastening members on the "outer" edges of said slats; the central part of this planar body is provided with an orifice coming in the bulk of the inter-slat space, intended for the passage of a locking pin arranged on the base of the abutment element, and this tenon comprises means which, after insertion into said orifice of the base, on the one hand, allow the removable locking of the stop member on its support base, and on the other hand allow the removable locking of this base on the couple support slats.
According to a preferred embodiment, the locking pin of the stop element comprises a foot and an end head. The face of this head oriented towards the base of the abutment element is separated from said base by a distance approximately corresponding to the thickness of the plane body of the base. This stud head is further adapted, after insertion of said tenon into said orifice of the base, and rotation of this tenon around the axis of said orifice under the effect of a rotational action on said an L-stop element, firstly to pass directly under a part of the base body in order to block this base body between said abutment base and said end of the locking post, and secondly to come into contact with "internal" songs facing the two support slats, with a slight spacing action of said slats, to ensure the locking of the base on said pair of slats.
In this context, the base body advantageously comprises an elongated orifice, and the abutment base comprises a circular tenon foot, extended to the bracket by two diametrically opposed wings forming the end head of said tenon, said lateral wings forming locking cam office during the positioning by rotation of the stop element on the support base.
The stop device preferably comprises means which ensure the rotational locking of the stop element on its support base, when said stop element is in the active position, with its return properly placed in the plane of the edge of the mattress with which it is intended to cooperate.
The corresponding locking means advantageously consist of at least one projecting lug arranged on the lower face of the abutment base, which lug is intended to fit into a locking mortise arranged in the upper face of the base.
In a particularly interesting embodiment, the protruding lug cooperates with a recess groove formed in the upper face of the base, one end of said groove constituting the mortise of embedding this lug, in association with an installation ramp.
In a preferred embodiment, the stop device comprises two pairs of grooves / locking lugs as defined above.
According to another feature, the inner face of the attachment members of the base comprises attachment teeth intended to bear against the "outer" edges of the support slats, to improve the locking position of the base.
According to yet another feature, the base comprises a member which allows the attachment of the stop element when it is not secured to said base by its locking pin. This feature allows the pre-assembly of the stop devices on the receiving bed, without the stop elements protrude above the upper face of said bed base, in particular for reasons of space.

The use of a transparent plastic material makes it possible to propose a lateral abutment device for mattresses having an original aesthetic, and particularly particularly discreet. This feature makes it possible to envisage the affixing of any marking (logo, drawing, mark ...) directly on the external or internal face of the
