Description
The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling the needle movement in a sewing machine according to the features of

When quilting the fabric is usually manually, ie moved without the help of a mass transfer device, resting on the Nähgutauflage in different directions. Conventionally, the needle bar motion for stitch formation is controlled manually by the operator or by means of a foot control. The operator must adjust the sewing speed itself to the respective fabric feed speed in such a way that the individual sewing stitches are executed at a uniform distance from each other. However, a method is also known according to which a sensor arranged below the fabric support detects relative movements between the sewing machine or a stationary object with respect to the sewing machine and the fabric layer resting directly on the fabric support or in a frame and controls the sewing needle drive in this way in that the distance between individual stitches is as constant as possible.
As a rule, the material to be sewn comprises a plurality of fabric layers lying on top of one another and / or applications applied to a fabric layer. When moving one Fabric stack of two or more layers of sewn layers may change the position of the individual layers relative to each other due to slippage. The amount of slippage depends on the nature of the individual fabric layers, so for example on the materials and their thicknesses. Likewise, the number of individual layers plays a role.
When detecting the material or material feed from below, only the movement of the bottom fabric layer is detected. As a result of the slippage, the uppermost layer, which is the viewing side after the sewing or quilting process, can shift in relation to the layer detected by the sensor. In the uppermost, visible layer of sewn material, the individual stitch positions can thus deviate from the desired setpoint positions.
The limited space available in the area of the needle plate below the fabric support are opposed to an optimal design of the sensor for detecting the material movement. If the detection point is far away from the puncture site of the sewing needle, impermissibly high errors can occur. If the detection of the sewing material movement should take place as close as possible to the puncture site of the sewing needle, this can make the simultaneous existence of a conveyor in this area impossible.
In addition, the depth of field of conventional optical detection devices for the detection of Sewing material movements extremely low. For a perfect detection of the sewing material thus means must be provided, with which the fabric can be kept within the limited depth of field of the detection device.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method and a device for controlling the needle movement in a sewing machine, in which the relative movements between the resting on a fabric support fabric and the sewing machine are detected, and in which the movement of the sewing needle in response to these relative movements is controllable.
This object is achieved by a device and a method according to the preamble of
With the method according to the invention and the device according to the invention, the upper side of the sewing material or its movements or relative movements relevant for the quality of the sewing or quilting process can be detected parallel to the sewing material support. As a result, the deviation of the distance between adjacent stitches or the position of the individual stitches of a selectable or adjustable Target distance or of selectable or adjustable nominal positions minimum. The detection of the relative movement between the sewing material or any object not moving with respect to the sewing object and the sewing machine or any object not moving with respect to the sewing machine includes all possible embodiments with movable sewing material and / or with a movable sewing machine. The fabric can be clamped in a frame or freely movable.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an optical detection device is provided in which an image section of the upper side of the material to be sewn in the region of the sewing needle and imaged onto an image sensor via an optical system. The detection area or the captured image detail is large enough that individual structural features of the material to be sewn several times within the detection range even at high relative speeds or accelerations. The optics of the detection device has a relatively large depth of field, so that a reliable detection of the position or position or the movement of the material is possible regardless of its thickness and the number of layers of fabric.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, at least part of the detection device is integrated in a presser foot. In this way, the fabric can near the puncture site be detected, whereby errors due to different movements of the material at the puncture site and at the detection point can be minimized. When quilting the presser foot performs a jumping movement between two stitches. Although the detection optics also perform this hopping movement, a reliable detection of the material is ensured because the depth of field of the optics is at least as large as the stroke of the jumping movement. In addition, an illumination of the fabric top is provided in the detection area, wherein a light beam at an optimized angle with respect to the fabric surface impinges on this. On the one hand, it is ensured that the material surface is imaged in high contrast on the image sensor and, on the other hand, that a sufficient illumination of the detection area is ensured during lifting and lowering movements of the presser foot. In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the light of the light source is guided via a prism on the upper side of the fabric and passed from there via the same prism to the image sensor. Thanks to the special design of the prism, the light source and the image sensor can be arranged very close to each other. In addition, the space requirement of the detection device in the immediate vicinity of the fabric surface and the Nähfusssohle is very low, so that the presser foot when sewing or quilting is hardly or not perceived as an obstacle.

In

In

machine controller 25 notifies thedetection device 27 of the respective position and speed of thesewing needle 19. Depending on the feed rate of thematerial 3, theevaluation electronics 57 calculates the optimum setpoint speed or setpoint delay for thesewing needle 19 and communicates this to themachine control 25. In this way, themachine controller 25 is not burdened with unnecessary computational effort. In addition, a fast microcontroller, which is optimally adapted to the task, can be used to calculate the setpoints. With fast material feed thesewing needle 19 is no longer completely decelerated between the individual stitches, but performs a continuous movement. It is ensured that the residence time of thesewing needle 19 in thesewing material 3 is sufficiently small, so that a reliable stitch formation can be performed. Of course, the processing of the measured quantities of theimage sensor 29 can also be partially or completely taken over by themachine controller 25 if it has sufficient processing power. The boundaries between thetransmitter 57 and themachine control 25 are thus not fixed specified. In particular, themachine control 25 may comprise theevaluation electronics 57.
