Abstract

A projectile, particularly a practice round, has a projectile body that includes a hollow ogive that bursts upon striking the target into which marking material is inserted. The marking material is released when the projectile strikes the target and the ogive bursts. The marking material is covered by a protective cap that breaks when the projectile bursts on the target.

Description

HINTERGRUND DER ERFINDUNGBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a projectile, in particular a training projectile, comprising a projectile body which has a hollow ogive bursting on a target when the projectile impinges, in which a marking substance, in particular a colorant powder, is accommodated, the marking substance impinging on the projectile the target is released and after bursting the ogive to mark the impact point.

In a training ammunition, z. B. a practice floor or a practice bomb, which itself has no sharp explosive charge, it is important to make the place of impact on the target identified, so that optimal exercise results can be achieved.

For this purpose, the bullet at the top of a hollow ogive, in which the marker, z. B. a reddish color powder is added. The ogive is made of a material, eg. B. plastic, which bursts when hitting the target, whereby the color powder is released. The dye is scattered in a certain radius around the point of impact, is additionally blown by wind and thus clearly shows the point of impact optically.

Bullets of the type in question here are z. B. medium-caliber bullets with a caliber of 40 mm, in mounted on a belt and fired from a rapid-fire cannon in series.

An example of such a projectile shows the WO 03/048675 in the local ones Figures 1A and 1B , The bullet described in this application has an ogive in which a color powder and several containers for chemolumiszente components are included. When the bullet strikes a target, the ogive breaks open, releasing the paint powder. At the same time, the containers with the chemiluminescent components are also broken up so that the components contained therein mix and produce chemo-luminosity. Thus, when the bullet strikes a target, the impact point is marked once by the color powder and, secondly, by the light effect due to the reaction of the chemiluminescent materials.

When handling such bullets, z. B. when nursing, it happens that breaks open the impact of an obstacle, the ogive of the projectile so that the marker, in particular a color powder, at least partially released and the z. B. located in the belt bullet must be replaced.

Worse is it, if z. In such a case, the ogive of the projectiles within the castle can be opened, which in turn releases the color powder and the interior of the weapon is contaminated by this marker. The weapon must then be cleaned time-consuming. Incidentally, such a misalignment in a sharp ammunition, which is indeed fired from the same weapon, lead to a jamming.

AUFGABE DER ERFINDUNGOBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The invention has for its object to prevent breakage of the ogive with simultaneous leakage of the marker.

Another task is to prevent contamination of the weapon in case of breakage of the ogive within a lock of a weapon.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG DER ERFINDUNGSUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the invention, a projectile of the type mentioned is given, in the hollow Ogive a marker is added, wherein the marker is covered with a bursting of the projectile on the target bursting additional protective hood, wherein between the Ogive and the additional protective hood at least in the area the projectile tip is left a gap.

Due to the additional protective cover, the marking material is sufficiently protected even if the ogive breaks up, for example, if handled improperly, so that no marking substance escapes.

Preferably, the gap is filled with a filler. The filler is z. As a soft foam, which is supported on the inner wall of the Ogive and the outer wall of the protective hood. Essentially, the filler serves to catch any splinters when breaking the ogive, which could otherwise damage the guard.

If z. B. by a misalignment of the lock of a rapid-fire weapon, the ogive is damaged in the castle, the weapon is not contaminated by leaking marker; Any splinters are collected and it is even possible that the projectile is shot down properly.

In the foregoing, as a marker only a z. B. red color powder has been mentioned. It is advantageous in many cases, in addition to the color powder nor a visible at night fabric, z. B. to use a chemoluminescent material which is disposed in a multi-compartment container within the color powder. Upon impact of the projectile on the target and the container is then broken with its compartments in which the chemiluminescent material is contained, so that a luminous effect is generated by the chemiluminescent reaction. With such a combination, the point of impact on the target is visible both during the day and at night.

The container with its compartments for chemiluminescent materials can, moreover, as this already in the EP-B1-1 183 494 is proposed to be broken by the initial acceleration and / or when using a spin-stabilized projectile by the centrifugal forces, so that with appropriate design of the projectile whose trajectory can be traced. In the present case, since the color powder is located between the exterior of the ogive and the container holding the chemiluminescent material, appropriate passages must be provided within the shell to direct the light generated by the chemiluminescence out of the shell. For this purpose, z. B. some areas of the projectile body, such. B. a swirl band, be made of transparent material, in which case by the chemiluminescence generated light radiates into a cavity of the projectile body, which lies in the interior of the projectile body in the region of the swirl band. Also, suitable optical tracks of transparent plastic are this possible, these conductors or other passages can also be performed by the color powder to corresponding transparent areas of the projectile body or the ogive.

BESCHREIBUNG DER BEVORZUGTEN AUSFÜHRUNGSBEISPIELEDESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

In FIG. 1 a training ammunition 1 is shown in cross-section, which has a projectile 2, which is received in a cartridge case 3. The projectile 2 has a projectile body 4 with a cartridge case 3 facing the bullet bottom 5 and a front ogive 6. In the cartridge case 3, a high-pressure drive chamber 7 is arranged, in which a propellant charge 8 is provided, which burns after ignition by a primer 9. The propellant gases of the propellant flow over overflow 10 in a low-pressure propulsion chamber 7a and act on the floor of the floor. When a certain gas pressure in the drive chamber is exceeded, a predetermined breaking point S between the cartridge case and the projectile breaks, so that the projectile 2 is expelled from the cartridge case 3.

The shown practice bullet is usually fired from a weapon with a drawn barrel with twist, so that on Projectile body 4 is still a swirl or guide belt 11 is provided.

Such a training ammunition from cartridge case and projectile is z. B. in the U.S. Patent 5,936,189 described.

The ogive 6 is supported on an insert 12 in the projectile body, which runs perpendicular to the longitudinal axis A of the projectile body 4. The Ogive 6 is z. B. a plastic part is cylindrical at the bottom and then goes into a vault-like hood z. B. in the form of a spherical cap over. In the hollow interior of the ogive 6 is a marker, in this case a red color powder 13 is provided, which is received in a protective hood 14 and covered by this. The protective hood 14, the z. B. from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), is completely filled with dye and has one of the Ogive approximately corresponding shape, ie a lower cylindrical portion which fits tightly against the inner wall of the cylindrical portion of the ogive 6 and an adjoining arched hood, the runs approximately parallel to the hood of the Ogive. In this area, a small gap 15 is provided between the guard 14 and the ogive 6, which is filled with a filler 16 which is supported on the guard 14 and the inner wall of the ogive 15 in the vault part. This material 16 may, for. B. a plate of a soft foam, as this in FIG. 2 is shown. In the manufacture of the projectile this foam plate 16 is inserted into the vault part of the ogive 6, after which the protective cover 14 is used with the filled dye 13 and the insert 12 in the ogive.

If, as mentioned above, z. B. by improper handling of the cartridge or by a misalignment of the castle of the launching of the vault part of the ogive 6 of the projectile. 2 is damaged, so is ensured by the distance between the ogive and the protective cover that the protective cover remains intact and thus no dye can escape. Essentially, the foam has the function of preventing any splinters of the damaged ogive from damaging the guard 14.

In FIG. 3 the cross section through a projectile 2 with a projectile body 4 and an ogive 6 is shown, wherein within the ogive in a protective hood 14, a color powder 13 is located. As with the projectile FIG. 1 is left between the guard 14 and the ogive a gap 15 in which a plate 16 is inserted from soft plastic.

On the insert 12, which forms the bottom of the ogive 6, a container 21 is supported, in which an inner container 22 is received. In the inner container 22 and in the space between the inner container and the container 21, a material is respectively received, which react chemiluminescent when mixed with the other material. As soon as the bullet hits a target, the ogive 6 bursts, releasing the paint powder 13; at the same time the container 22 is broken, so that the two materials react with each other and a light signal is emitted, which may be in the normal light range or possibly in the IR range and is widely visible.

As in the mentioned U.S. Patent 5,936,189 2, the two containers 21 and 22 can be designed such that they are broken open already at the initial acceleration of the projectile and / or during the swirling motion of the projectile immediately after the start, so that the chemiluminescent reaction is initiated. When the light generated thereby out to the outside guided out of the projectile body, so that the trajectory of the projectile can be traced.

One possibility is to make the bottom of the insert 12 translucent at least in a portion 23 below the two containers 21 and 22, so that the light generated by chemiluminescence z. B. radiates into a cavity 24 of the projectile body. If the guiding or twisting band 11 located in the region of this cavity is designed to be translucent and the wall of the cavity 24 also extends in a region 25 on the guide band, then the light can escape out of the cavity 24 so that the trajectory of the projectile travels clearly at night can be.

Of course, it is also possible to find other outward passages for the light that results from chemiluminescence; so could z. B. the insert 12 themselves are translucent and extend to translucent areas in the wall of the projectile body, so that the light is also perceptible from the outside.
