Definitions

  • the invention relates to a brake for gliding board, particularly for skiing, consisting of two metal branches articulated on a base and connected to a return spring tending to maintain the brake in the active braking position, the upper end of the metal branches being linked to a pallet which also serves as a tilting pedal capable of raising the brake against the action of the return spring under the pressure of a shoe.
  • skis have been fitted with very curved shapes to facilitate cornering with more or less cornering. These forms are also very variable from one ski to another according to the desired uses.
  • their width in their central part on which the attachment is mounted, incorporating the ski brake is variable according to the ski models.
  • fasteners manufacturers offer several brakes of different width, to allow their branches to have the spacing adapted for their rotational movement on both sides ski.
  • this solution has the disadvantage of complicating the management of the manufacture of these brakes since it is necessary to provide pieces of different size in an amount that will be closer to the quantities of skis sold for each size.
  • the mounting of these brakes on the ski is also complex because we must be sure to have the brake of good width.
  • the document CH 585562 describes a ski braking device comprising two braking branches capable of occupying two positions, a closed position for skiing and an open position in which they brake the ski.
  • the device is further equipped with means for adjusting the width of the braking device.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide a ski brake which does not have the above disadvantages.
  • the invention is based on a ski braking device as described in claim 1.
  • the adjustment means may consist of two right and left adjusting elements comprising a connection with a bend of the right and left right-hand braking limbs, connecting means between them allowing them an adjustable connection to implement the adjustment of the width of the braking device by adjusting the distance between the elbows of the braking limbs.
  • the elbows of the braking limbs can pass through an opening in the adjustment elements allowing their rotation along the axis of these openings.
  • the adjustment elements can be interconnected with a transverse adjustable spacing of the device by two corresponding toothed parts.
  • the braking device may comprise means for locking the means for adjusting the width of the braking device.
  • the braking device may comprise a heel rest positioned on the adjustment elements, adapted to be fixed to the base of a fastener by a screw-type means also passing through slots of the adjustment elements.
  • It may also comprise a pallet connected to the heel rest by a connecting rod, the pallet receiving a bent end of the braking limbs in an opening giving them freedom of movement to allow the spacing of the first elbows of the braking limbs.
  • the two bent ends of the right and left braking branches are relatively close within their respective openings of the pallet.
  • the brake according to one embodiment of the invention comprises two symmetrical right and left braking metal branches 1, a first elbow 1b of which is connected to adjustment elements 3 and left 2, and a second elbow 1d of which is connected to a pallet 8.
  • the adjustment elements 2 and 3 are held on the base 10 of a ski binding via a heel rest 4, connected to the pallet 8 by a rod 7.
  • a spring 9 acts on the elbows 1d of the brake branches at the pallet 8 to exert a force tending to bring the end of the branches 1 to inwards. This effect is advantageous because it makes it possible to prevent the branches from obstructing the sliding in the closed non-braking position, as is for example illustrated on the Figures 3 to 5 .
  • the bends 1b of the metal branches pass through openings 2b and 3b made in the adjusting elements 2 and 3, in which they can be driven in a rotational movement.
  • This rotation allows branches 1 to occupy two positions: an open position in which the lower parts 1a are directed downwards and able to brake a ski and a closed position in which they no longer interfere with the slide of the ski.
  • the adjustment elements 2 and 3 cooperate together by two complementary toothed portions 2a and 3a, which allow the adjustment of their respective positioning, by their spacing or their approximation in a predefined stroke in the transverse direction of the brake.
  • the concept of the invention is therefore to provide a means of adjusting the width of the brake, to make it compatible with skis of different widths.
  • the branches 1 may be spaced by any other means, acting on one or more of its parts among its elbows 1b and 1d and its right part 1c.
  • the adjustment elements 2 and 3 are mounted movable transversely to the ski binding by a slide 2c, 3c which cooperates with the transverse edge before the base 10 of the fastener, base 10 for receiving a heel of attachment of ski.
  • the two complementary toothed portions 2a and 3a rest on the surface of the base 10 of the fastener. These toothed portions 2a, 3a are housed in a space 4a of the lower surface of a heel rest 4 in order to prevent them from moving vertically and to maintain their teeth in the chosen position.
  • an opening 4d is planned in the center heel rest 4 for the passage of a fastening element, for example a screw 11, which also passes through the adjustment elements 2 and 3 by their slots 2d and 3d before cooperating with the base 10 of the fastener.
  • a fastening element for example a screw 11
  • Such a fastener may thus allow the heel rest 4 to be held on the surface of the ski binding, inducing the locking of the adjustment elements 2, 3.
  • the combination of the screw 11 and the heel rest 4 therefore makes it possible to perform a function of locking means of the position of the adjustment elements.
  • a modification of the width of the braking device is possible by removing this fastening element of the heel rest 4, by lifting the heel rest 4 to access the two adjustment elements 2 and 3 and modify the cooperation of their respective toothed portions 2a , 3a.
  • the heel rest 4 further comprises a space 4b in its front part in which is mounted an axis of rotation 5 on which is connected a rod 7 through an opening 7b.
  • the rod 7 further comprises an axis 7a in its upper part, which cooperates with openings 8a of the pallet 8.
  • a return spring 6, mounted in the space 4b of the heel rest 4 acts on this rod 7 to tend to raise the pallet 8 and position the brake in its open and brake position.
  • the heel rest 4 further comprises rear openings 4c to allow access to the connecting screws of the base 10 of the binding on the ski.
  • FIGS 3 to 7 illustrate the braking device in its position of minimum width. As is particularly visible on the figure 4 , the two adjustment elements 2 and 3 are superimposed in their minimum spacing position, the slot 2d of the toothed portion 2a being substantially under the part 3a.
  • FIGS 3 to 5 represent the braking device in its raised position, in which the lower parts 1 have branches 1 are retracted inwardly by the spring 9 and are positioned on the upper surface of the abutments 2e and 3e of the adjusting elements 2 and 3, substantially parallel to the surface of the ski, and therefore do not implement the braking function.
  • the heel of a ski boot rests on the heel rest 4 and the front portion of the ski boot rests and presses on the pallet 8.
  • the Figures 8 to 12 illustrate the braking device in its position of maximum width.
  • the two adjustment elements 2 and 3 are placed in their maximum spacing position, the two slots 2d, 3d of their toothed portion 2a, 3a being only superimposed on a minimum surface allowing the passage of a fixing screw 11.
  • these adjustment elements 2, 3 cause the spacing of the bent portions 1b of the brake legs which are mounted in rotation in their opening 2b, 3b. It is thus possible to place the outer end of these elbows in correspondence with the lateral ends of a ski, to allow the rotation of the lower parts 1a of the brake on the sides of a wider ski.
  • This movement of the adjustment elements 2, 3 causes a modification of the entire positioning of the brake limbs.
  • bent parts 1 d extremes get closer and change orientation, as is visible on the figures 10 and 12 .
  • This movement is made possible by the connection of the bent ends 1 d in openings 8b adapted to the pallet 8, allowing them degrees of freedom sufficient not to block the spacing of the braking branches at the base 10 of the fixation.
