Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for treating the jacket surfaces of printing cylinders of printing machines according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the lateral surfaces of the printing cylinders in printing machines come into contact with printed sheets during the printing process. There is a particular risk of contamination from printing inks when producing printing sheets printed on both sides. After the printing process on the face side has been completed, these are turned over and fed to the printing units arranged downstream, the side already printed on the printing sheet facing the outer surface of the printing cylinder. In particular in the printing units arranged downstream of the sheet turning device, there is a risk from the pressure prevailing in the printing nip that printing ink builds up on the printing cylinders and is deposited on subsequent printing sheets, which leads to a loss in quality. As a result of the continued contact with the printing sheets, the outer surfaces of the printing cylinders are also worn, which also influences the printing quality.
- the storage of color and the color structure can be avoided on the cylinder jacket by applying a layer of water.
- the Water acts as a release agent.
- the pressure cylinder jacket is used to create the water layer air enriched with water vapor.
- DE 43 20 069 discloses a method and a device for repairing cylinders of printing machines by thermal spray coating.
- the device is in the Printing machine installed when the surface of the cylinder concerned is worn out and is in need of repair.
- part of the cylinder jacket removed and thermally spray-coated after the blasting and heating operations, which is followed by the smoothing and sealing of the applied layer.
- the coating of the cylinder proves to be complex. Due to the procedural High process temperatures in the thermal coating result in additional Dangers and high stress on the other machine components.
- the object of the invention is to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages
- the present invention has the advantage that it is very good color-repellent and / or wear-resistant Properties on the lateral surfaces of the printing cylinders of a printing press generate and keep for almost any length of time. This is done on applied a coating liquid to the blanket cylinder, which during a of Printing cylinder and blanket cylinder rotating movement on the printing cylinder transferred and then fixed on the printing cylinder. Through indirect application the layer thickness is evened out, which is advantageous in relation to the desired Properties.
- the layer produced in this way is subject to wear, but can be light and arbitrary are often regenerated in the printing press.
- the exchange of worn lifts or the costly re-coating of the cylinders by thermal spraying is no longer necessary.
- the present invention is particularly suitable for use in sheet-fed rotary printing machines with turning device that can print on the sheet in perfecting, but is also used in straight face printing machines.
- the regeneration of the Properties can be performed as an automated process during a print break be, for which there are no manual activities, especially no assembly work for Changing lifts is required.
- One embodiment of the invention provides that, if a washing device of known design is present, it is used to apply the coating liquid to the cylinder surface.
- the advantage of these designs is that manual activities are reduced to a minimum without additional mechanical engineering expenditure.
- the coating liquid easily handle and is in liquid form at room temperature. It essentially exists from inorganic nanoparticles modified with organic additives, the Nanoparticles dissolved in aqueous, alcoholic or mixed solvents are. This makes it chemically stable, which makes storage easier.
- the layer applied to the printing cylinder can depend on the selection of the nanoparticles be designed as a color-repellent and / or wear-resistant layer.
- the fixation the layer is done in the simplest way by drying or depending on the execution of the Coating by irradiation with UV light.
- the method according to the invention can be carried out with a printing press, which in the main assemblies of the sheet printing machine shown in the single drawing equivalent.
- This has a system table 13 and a feed drum 14 with which Scattered sheets fed to the first, several printing units 1 arranged one behind the other become.
- Each of the printing units 1 comprises a sheet-guiding plate designed as a printing cylinder 5 Cylinder which is in contact with a blanket cylinder 2, which is a plate cylinder 3 is assigned.
- Transfer drums 4 arranged. All bow-guiding cylinders are of a known type and Way equipped with gripper systems.
- One or more of the transfer drums 4 can also be designed as turning drums. In the printing press shown is in The second transfer drum 4 considers a direction of sheet travel as a turning drum.
- coating liquid is first applied to one or more blanket cylinders 2, various variants being possible.
- the coating liquid is filled into the container provided for holding a washing liquid and conveyed in the same way as this.
- the washing device 8 can work according to the roller, brush or cloth principle, it being set such that coating liquid remains on the blanket cylinder 2 in a predetermined layer thickness.
- the washing device 8 provided for applying the coating liquid can also be modified in such a way that it can optionally be used for applying the coating liquid or cleaning. It is also possible to transfer the coating liquid to the plate cylinder 3 using a dampening unit 7 which may be present on the printing press and which transfers the coating liquid to the blanket cylinder 2 by executing a rotary movement.
- the coating liquid is transferred from the blanket cylinder 2 to the printing cylinder 5 when the printing cylinder 5 is positioned on the blanket cylinder 2 during a rotary movement carried out by the printing cylinder 5 and the blanket cylinder 2 During this transfer, as a result of the force relationships prevailing in the printing nip, a film of coating liquid is formed on the printing cylinder 5, which film has a uniform layer thickness.
- An aqueous or alcoholic solution is used as the coating liquid, which is liquid at room temperature and contains inorganic nanoparticles modified with organic additives.
- the nanoparticles consist of oxides of the elements of ll. to V. main and sub-group or mixtures thereof, in particular of silicon oxide, titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide or mixtures thereof.
- Hydrolysis products of long-chain trialkoxysilanes R-Si (OR) 3 and / or dialkoxysilanes R-Si (OR) 2 where R contains 4 to 18 carbon atoms in alkyl, aralkyl or fluoroalkyl radicals, are provided as organic additives.
- a coating liquid whose nanocrystalline particles consist of a silicon oxide / aluminum oxide compound which has been modified with fluoroalkylsilanes or fluoroalkyl-functionalized polysiloxanes has proven to be particularly suitable.
- the coating liquid can also contain a photoinitiator, which reacts in a known manner to a specific sub-spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, in particular UV light, and initiates the fixing process.
- the coating produced on the sheet-guiding cylinders using such a coating liquid has a strong ink-repellent effect, so that a sheet-guiding cylinder is protected against contamination with printing ink.
- wear-resistant properties can also be set as an alternative or in addition to the color-repellent properties.
- the coating liquid After the coating liquid has been transferred to the surface of the printing cylinder 5, the coating liquid is fixed. This can be done in a simple manner by heat treatment in the form of drying or, depending on the composition of the coating liquid, by irradiation with UV light or another suitable radiation source. This triggers crosslinking reactions that irreversibly connect the molecules contained in the coating liquid. Temperatures in the range between 15 and 100 ° C are provided for drying. In order to achieve this, drying devices 12 are assigned to the printing cylinders 5. The use of such drying devices 12 to shorten the drying process has also proven to be advantageous in the case of coating liquids which can be fixed at room temperature. The drying devices 12 work with hot air or IR radiation. Instead of the drying devices 12, UV lamps can also be provided.
- the coating liquid remaining on the blanket cylinder 2 is before the start of Printing process and before it dries away.
- the blanket cylinder 2 from Printing cylinder 5 turned off and washed. This can be done manually or using a Wash facility done.
- washing device 5 Before applying the coating liquid, it must be ensured that the surface the printing cylinder 5 is free of dirt. If not, you can Coating process ahead of a cleaning process, to perform a separate Washing device 5 or a washing device 5 which optionally the blanket cylinder 2, can be assigned to the plate cylinder 3 or the pressure cylinder 5, can be provided.
- the washing device 5 is arranged in such a way that it performs a pivoting movement 9 can.

Abstract
