Um bei einem aus dem deutschen Patent 196 10 213 bekannten Spannfutter das Einstecken eines Werkzeugschaftes ohne Verschieben der Hülse 2 zu ermöglichen, wird vorgeschlagen, den Schlitz (5), in dem ein als auf das Schaftende als Arretierungsorgan wirkendes Bogenstück (6) sitzt, derart zu verbreitern, daß das Bogenstück (6) in Längsrichtung des Spannfutters bewegbar ist und durch die Stirnseite bzw. die dort ausgebildete Fase eines Werkzeugschaftes außer Eingriff mit der Spannfläche (11) der Hülse (7) bringbar ist.
