Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for leak testing a Tankentlwestungsanllge a vehicle according to the preambles of the independent claims 1 and 2.
- Leak test methods are disclosed, for example, in DE 196 36 431 A1 or in DE 198 09 384 A1.
- air is pumped through the pressure source into the tank ventilation system.
- pressure builds up in this way.
- the increased pressure changes the operating characteristic of the pressure source, so, for example, the electrical power consumption of the pump of the pressure source is increased.
- the measurement of the pump current thus represents a measure of the pressure in the tank.
- the pump current is measured at the beginning of the pumping process and after a predetermined time interval.
- an increase in the current is expected due to the build-up of pressure. falls below the current increase is an expected predefinable measure, an error message "Leak" is output.
- Such a tightness test can only be successful with a tight tank vent valve.
- a leaking tank-venting valve openly clamping
- the operation of the tank vent valve can be tested in different ways. For example, the current required to drive the tank ventilation valve can be detected and evaluated, or tank ventilation valves can be used whose switching position can be read out.
- the invention is therefore the object of developing a method for leak testing a tank ventilation system of a vehicle of the generic type so that with the least possible technical effort a reliable test of the functionality of the tank vent valve is possible.
- the basic idea of the invention is to conclude, on the basis of the time characteristic of the operating parameter during leak tests, on the functionality of the tank venting valve.
- the time course of the operating characteristic is detected at a run in an internal combustion engine of the vehicle tank measurement, in a so-called idle measurement, and then the time course of the operating characteristic at a performed when the engine of the vehicle tank measurement, in a so-called caster measurement, and recorded on a Disruption of the tank venting valve then closes when the time gradient of the operating characteristic in the idle measurement deviates from the comparable temporal gradient of the operating characteristic in the follow-up measurement by a predetermined value.
- a test of the tightness of the tank vent valve in the closed state is possible. In this way, in particular a fine stain on the tank ventilation valve can be distinguished from a fine stain elsewhere in the tank ventilation system.
- a great advantage of this method is that no additional lines, circuits and the like are required to check the operability of the tank vent valve. Rather, the time course of the operating characteristic is evaluated in the already taking place tank measurement for testing the functionality of the tank vent valve.
- both a comparison with a reference measurement take place as well as a comparison with a threshold, the From operating variables for controlling an internal combustion engine of the vehicle or fixed.
- An advantageous embodiment of the method provides that after completion of the tank measurement, the tank venting valve opens, detects the time course of the operating characteristic and closes on the operability of the tank vent valve when the operating characteristic falls within a predetermined time by a predetermined value.
- it can be easily checked whether the tank-venting valve is stuck in the closed state. In this case, although no leak would be detected, nevertheless a proper function of the tank ventilation system would not be ensured.
- one or more of the following variables come into question as operating parameters: the current consumption of the pressure source and / or the speed of the pressure source and / or the pressure at the. Pressure source voltage applied and / or the pressure generated by the pressure source.
- a reference leak is used, it is preferably connected in parallel to the tank ventilation system.
- a tank ventilation system of a motor vehicle known from the prior art, shown in FIG. 1, comprises a tank 10, an adsorption filter 20, for example an activated carbon filter, which is connected to the tank 10 via a tank connection line 12 and an aeration line 22 which can be connected to the environment and a tank venting valve 30 which is connected on the one hand to the adsorption filter 20 via a valve line 24 and on the other hand to a suction pipe 40 of an internal combustion engine (not shown) via a valve line 42.
- the tank venting valve 30 is opened, so that due to the pressure prevailing in the suction pipe 40 atmospheric air is sucked through the adsorption 20, whereby the adsorbed in the adsorption filter 20 hydrocarbons are sucked into the suction pipe 40 and the internal combustion engine.
- a pump 50 is provided, which is driven by an example electric motor.
- the pump 50 is connected to an electronic control unit (ECU) 60.
- ECU electronice control unit
- the pump 50 is followed by a switching valve 70, for example in the form of a 3/2-way valve.
- a reference leak 81 is arranged in a separate branch 80.
- the size of the reference leak 81 is selected to correspond to the size of the leak to be detected, for example 0.5 mm.
- the reference leak 81 may for example also be part of the switching valve 70, for example by a channel constriction or the like, so that in this case an additional reference part may be omitted (not shown).
- the pump 50 is actuated and thereby alternately introduced into the tank ventilation system and - by switching the valve 70 - in the reference leak 81, an overpressure.
- the current to be supplied to the pump motor I M which drops across a resistor R M , detected and supplied to the circuit unit 60 via an analog-to-digital converter ADC.
- the course shown in Fig. 2 corresponds to the time course of the motor current I M a functioning tank ventilation system without leakage.
- the changeover valve 70 is in the position indicated by I in FIG. In this position of the switching valve 70, a flow is introduced through the pressure source 50 via the reference leak 80 in the tank ventilation system.
- a temporally substantially constant motor current I M is.
- a threshold would also be conceivable which is derived from other operating variables of the control of the internal combustion engine or, for example, also fixedly specified (not shown in FIGS. 2 and 3).
- the pressure source 50 pressurizes the tank ventilation system with an overpressure.
- the motor current I M decreases rapidly and then continuously with increasing time until it reaches a value that is greater than or equal to the motor current of the reference measurement.
- the switching positions of the tank venting valve (denoted TEV in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3) and the reversing valve 70 (labeled UV in FIG. 2) are shown in the above-described measurements.
- a tank measurement is performed while the internal combustion engine is idling.
- a time interval .DELTA.t 2 a change in the current .DELTA.I 2L , ie, the current gradient, measured and stored.
- a leaking tank-venting valve 30 would in principle be considered in principle.
- the current gradient over the predetermined time interval ⁇ t 2 is detected during a leak test in the control unit tracking.
- the tank venting valve 30 is opened.
- the motor current will now decrease with increasing time. If it decreases at least by a predetermined value ⁇ t 1 in a time interval of the length ⁇ t 1 , then it can be assumed that the tank ventilation valve 30 opens correctly. If this is not the case, a proper operation of the tank vent valve 30 is not given.
- tank ventilation valve 30 it is possible to carry out the functionality of the tank ventilation valve 30 in conjunction with an already occurring leak test of the tank ventilation system. In particular, no additional lines and the like. Are required. Rather, the method can be used in virtually any tank venting systems in which a leak test is performed.
