Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for determining the Position of an anchor that corresponds to an electromagnetic Actuator is assigned, according to the preamble of the claim 1.
- the actuator is an electromechanical actuator assigned that, for example, as a gas exchange valve an actuator designed actuator. Such an actuator thus has a gas exchange valve and an actuator.
- the actuator preferably has two electromagnets, between which each against the force of a restoring means an anchor by switching off of the excitation coil current of the currently holding Electromagnets and switching on the excitation coil current of the now catching electromagnet can be moved.
- a method for determining the position of the armature is known from DE 19836769.
- the path position is determined from the time derivative of the currents through the excitation coil and the voltage drops at the excitation coil at two points in time.
- the method has the disadvantage that voltage drops which vary greatly over time are required for the exact determination of the path position.
- the evaluation method is based on an approximation formula that is only accurate in the area of large air gaps (> ⁇ ⁇ . ⁇ m) and in the area of small air gaps, which is important for controlling the actuator with low impact speeds, has great inaccuracies.
- the method can therefore only be controlled adaptively and is difficult to implement in a closed control loop without adaptation.
- a very early energization of the excitation coil to a high current level is required for a satisfactory evaluation, which leads to high electrical losses.
- the process can be a significant improvement in the area achieve smaller air gaps because the path position in Contrary to the approximation function described in DE 19836769 in the method according to the invention by interpolation a map determined exactly for the magnet or a functional mapping of the map is determined. Due to the higher accuracy especially in The area of small air gaps is a regulation that the Impact speed of the anchor on the contact surface of the electromagnet minimized, easier to implement. An adaptive control is in contrast to that in DE The method described in 19836769 is not required.
- a characteristic field can be used for a given magnet system be determined using an FEM method, in which the Relationship between current through the excitation coil, magnetic Flow of the excitation coil and the air gap determined between the armature and the contact surface on the magnet can be. From the map, known magnetic Flow and current clearly the position of the anchor be determined. The current is measured and the magnetic The flow of the excitation coil becomes as follows is calculated.
- a further simplification of the detection of the magnetic Flux is possible by calculating the excitation coil voltage depending on the operating state of a power amplifier.
- the half H-bridge is called four different ones Operating states possible. These are hibernation (RZ), magnetization state (AMZ), freewheel (FL) and fast current feedback (SSR) with energy feedback.
- the excitation coil voltage can be in any operating state and thus the magnetic flux can be determined mathematically. To determine the path position is therefore only detection of the current is required.
- An electromechanical actuator 1 (according to FIG. 1) comprises an actuator 9 , which is designed here as a gas exchange valve.
- the actuator consists of two electromagnets 5a and 5b. At least one excitation coil 12a or 12b is arranged on each of the two electromagnets.
- An armature 6 is provided which moves during its pivoting movement between the contact surface on the upper electromagnet and the contact surface on the lower electromagnet. When the armature moves towards the lower contact surface, a spring 8 serves as a restoring means, while when it moves towards the upper contact surface, a torsion bar 7 serves as a restoring means.
- the anchor 6 is shown in its rest position in the middle position between the upper and lower contact surfaces.
- the actuating device is controlled by a control device which consists of a control unit 3 and power output stages 2, 4 .
- the excitation coils 12 a and 12 b of the actuator are conductively connected to the power output stages 2 and 4 via cables 10 .
- the control unit 3 measuring points of current and voltage drops are recorded and / or signals from a higher-level control device (not shown) for engine operating functions are recorded and control signals are generated, depending on which the two excitation coils of the control device are controlled.
- the control unit 3 has a controller, the controlled variables of which are the current through the excitation coils I 1 , I 2 and the voltage drop U 1, coil , U 2, coil at the excitation coils of the two electromagnets.
- the controller supplies the control signals for the control lines L 1 , L 2 for the upper power output stage 2 and the control signals L 1 ', L 2 ' for the lower power output stage 4, with which the control unit is conductively connected to the power output stages. Since a method for determining the position is explained in the invention, the design of the controller and its functionality are not discussed in detail.
- Fig. 1 two magnets are provided, each with a coil. It is also possible to get by with a special pole formation with a coil, which is then used for both functions (holding and catching).
- 2a and 2b show possible designs of an electromechanical actuator.
- 2a shows an electromechanical actuator known from DE 19825728, in which the actuator is actuated directly by the armature 6 ' and an upper and lower return spring generate the restoring force of the armature.
- 2b shows an actuator known from patent application PCT EP 9908755, which is characterized in that it has an armature 6 " integrated in the lever. In this actuator, a valve return spring generates the one restoring force, while a torsion bar mounted in the armature tube produces the other Drag provides.
- the operating states are idle state (RZ), magnetizing (AMZ), freewheeling (FL) and hard shutdown with fast current feedback (SSR). If a high voltage potential is present at the gate connections of the transistors TR 1 and TR 2, which are preferably designed as MOS transistors, the respective transistor is conductive from its drain connection to the source connection. If there is a low voltage potential at the gate connection, the transistor blocks from its drain connection to its source connection.
- the transistors TR1 and TR2 are not conductive and the current through the excitation coil is also zero.
- both transistors are operated in a conductive manner. Current then flows from the voltage source with the potential of the supply voltage through the transistor TR 1 , the excitation coil, through the measuring resistor R mess and the transistor TR 2 to a ground connection which is at a reference potential.
- transistor TR 2 is operated in a conductive manner and transistor TR 1 is not conductive.
- the current then flows from the reference potential via the freewheeling diode D1, the excitation coil, the measuring resistor R mess , the diode D2 to the voltage source with the voltage potential of the negative supply voltage U v . If the excitation coil is not operated in saturation, the voltage drop in the excitation coil is equal to the negative supply voltage U v plus the negative forward voltages of the freewheeling diode D1 and the diode D2 and the losses at the measuring resistor.
- 3b describes the positioning of the measuring points for detecting the current through the excitation coil and the voltage drop at the excitation coil in the power output stage.
- the voltage drop U coil between the feed power to the excitation coil and the feedback power is detected.
- the current I is determined from the voltage drop across the measuring resistor R mess .
- Alternative positioning of the measuring points to record the current through the excitation coil is also possible.
- a Hall element can be used for current measurement instead of the measuring resistor.
- FIG. 3c An alternative output stage circuit is shown in FIG. 3c .
- the one MOS transistor TR1 has to be switched in the magnetization phase (AMZ).
- the current then flows through the excitation coil W, the measuring resistor to the ground connection, which is at a reference potential.
- the free-running phase (FL) the second MOS transistor TR2 is switched and the first MOS transistor is switched off. If a current flows through the excitation coil at the time of the transition to the operating state of the freewheel FL, the freewheeling diode D1 becomes conductive and the current through the excitation coil increases depending on the losses in the resistance of the excitation coil, the transistor TR1, the measuring resistor R mess and the freewheeling diode D1 from.
- circuit variants are also conceivable, e.g. a full bridge with four MOS transistors.
- alternative Circuit variants are suitable if they are at least enable three different operating states.
- the air gap between the armature and the contact surface of the magnet can be determined from the characteristic field and the position of the armature or the valve can thus be determined.
- the air gap is determined by interpolation of the characteristic field, as shown in FIG. 4 , or by calculation using a function that maps the characteristic field with sufficient accuracy.
- FIGS. 5a to d show various methods of determining the current and the magnetic flux for determining the position during the movement phase from the contact surface of one electromagnet to the contact surface of the other electromagnet.
- FIGS. 5a to d show the time sequence of the excitation current levels I 1 and I 2 through the two excitation coils of the electromagnets and the position X of the armature.
- the armature is initially held at a holding current level I H by energizing the excitation coil with the current I 1 , for example by means of a two-point regulator. In this state, the armature is located on the contact surface of an electromagnet. The position X is then s1. To initiate the movement, the current is reduced from the holding current level I H to a measuring current level I M and kept at the measuring current level for the time ⁇ t M. After the current reaches a current level I S which is slightly below the holding current level and above the measuring current level, the lifting movement begins.
- the position of the armature during the detachment process from the contact surface of the electromagnet can be determined continuously by means of the change in flow and the change in current.
- the path position can be determined until the measuring current is switched off after the time ⁇ t M.
- the capture current I 2 of the excitation coil of the other electromagnet is activated. This capture current compensates for the mechanical losses during the stroke movement and ensures that the armature moves up to the contact surface of the opposite electromagnet.
- the current I 2 of the second excitation coil and the magnetic flux are evaluated.
- the position of the armature can be determined continuously during the time interval ⁇ t F. After the armature strikes the contact surface of the opposite electromagnet (position s2), the armature is again held by the holding current level I H on the contact surface of the electromagnet.
- both excitation coils are operated for a certain period of time at a measuring current level ⁇ t M1 and ⁇ t M2 . At times, the operation takes place in parallel.
- This method has the advantage that the path position can be determined without gaps and, if necessary, inaccuracies in the path position detection due to fluctuations in the resistances and inaccuracies in the current measurement are compensated for by redundant evaluation.
- the path position is determined only when the current I 1 is switched off and when the capture current I 2 is active .
- the path position can then only be determined at the beginning of the armature's detachment process from the contact surface on the electromagnet and after the catching current has been set. This method is advantageous because the electrical power consumption during the capture phase and the braking effect of the electromagnet that is switched off can be minimized.
- 6a and 6b show flow diagrams for detecting the anchor position, which are processed in the control unit 3.
- the program calculates the position X of the anchor when the anchor moves from position s1 to position s2.
- An equivalent program that calculates position X when the armature moves from position s2 to position s1 is also provided.
- the program is started in a first step S1.
- the current I 1 is assigned the holding current value I H , the magnetic flux ⁇ 1 the holding flow ⁇ H , and the position X the initial value s1 .
- the current I 1 is assigned an initial current value I 0 ⁇ I H , the magnetic flux ⁇ 1 an initial flux ⁇ 1 , and the position X 1 the initial value S1.
- step S5 a new current value I M is determined in step S5 and the induction voltage U ind of the excitation coil is calculated.
- step S6 a new value of the magnetic flux ⁇ 1 is calculated from the induction voltage using the initial value of the magnetic flux ⁇ 0 and the integration of the induction voltage.
- Position X is determined in step S7 by interpolation of the characteristic diagram.
- step S8 it is checked whether the measured current is greater than a lower limit value I U , which is generally very small or equal to zero. If the condition is not met, the determination of the path position is continued. If the condition is met, the current I 1 and the magnetic flux ⁇ 1 are set to zero in step S9. The position determination is completed in step S10.
- step S6 a new value of the magnetic flux ⁇ 2 is calculated from the induction voltage using the initial value of the magnetic flux ⁇ 0 and the integration of the induction voltage.
- Position X is determined in step S7 by interpolation of the characteristic diagram.
- step S8 it is checked whether the armature has reached position s2, ie whether the armature movement has been completed. If the condition is not met, the determination of the path position is continued. If the condition is met, the current I 2 is set equal to the holding current I H , the holding flux ⁇ H is assigned to the magnetic flux ⁇ 2 and the position X is assigned the end position s2.
- step S10 a query is made as to whether the position determination should be terminated.
- This query enables the path determination to be continued during the holding phase in order to obtain more precise initial flow values and initial current values for the switching-off process from the holding phase and to determine whether the armature detaches during the holding phase.
- a measuring method which is used to determine the position must ensure that, in particular in the case of fast-switching electromechanical actuators, a high degree of accuracy in determining the position is achieved; In addition, it is required that the energy requirement of the measuring method is kept as low as possible.
- the accuracy of the position determination depends on the Accuracy of the maps as well as the accuracy the map interpolation or the accuracy, by means of a calculation with a function can be achieved. From that shown in Fig. 4 Map shows that with decreasing magnetic Flow becomes increasingly difficult using map interpolation to determine the position. this will even clearer when looking at Fig. 7, in which the Air gap ⁇ is plotted over the river ⁇ . The of the Regulation required accuracy of position determination can therefore only be guaranteed if dependent of the air gap between armature and magnet a corresponding Minimum flow value is available.
- the position evaluation can only be meaningful if the magnetic flux ⁇ is greater than a defined minimum flux value ⁇ min , which is derived as a function of the air gap from the respective accuracy of the map interpolation / the calculation using an approximation function.
- a position evaluation with high accuracy can at time t1, as long as ⁇ > ⁇ min .
- the position evaluation then becomes inaccurate and must be evaluated using suitable auxiliary methods for a control procedure. From time t2, the position evaluation becomes more precise again since ⁇ > ⁇ min is fulfilled again.
- the excitation current of the one magnet iM1 is first reduced to a lower current level, so that it is ensured that the magnetic force becomes smaller than the spring force and the armature begins to move. This ensures that the dynamics of the electromagnet are affected as little as possible.
- the excitation current is then increased again in accordance with the requirement ⁇ > ⁇ min , so that an exact position evaluation is possible over a longer period of time, namely up to time t3. If the control method allows a discontinuous position evaluation, the time t3 is selected so that a position evaluation can take place as long as it is necessary. Then the excitation current of the catch magnet iM2 is switched on.
- the position can be determined again with the required accuracy. If a control method requires continuous position evaluation, the excitation current iM1 is only switched off later, so that it is ensured that the position evaluation can be carried out up to time t3.
- the switch-off time is dimensioned such that the minimum flow value ⁇ min is always reached by the excitation current through one or the other excitation coil during the entire measuring process.
