Definitions
- the invention relates in particular to a seat cover for protecting a motor vehicle seat made of double-layered plastic film, in particular for the initial equipment, with a continuous, the seat and the backrest surface of the seat protective front position and connected to the front layer by transverse welding reserve, in conjunction with the front layer forms a first pocket substantially accommodating the seatback of the seat and a second pocket substantially enclosing the seat cushion, the portions of the cover forming the two pockets being connected by connecting strips extending over the free edges of the areas forming the pockets extend the transverse welds and are connected to the front layer, so that the thus substantially continuous reserve has an edge-closed recess.
- the invention further shows a method for producing such seat covers made of plastic film.
- the invention may also relate generally to a protective cover for articles, e.g. to a steering wheel protection with a circular front position, which is connected wrinkle-free with a reserve on a tire protection, for. B. the ReseverARSs or a winter wheel.
- the protective cover can also be used to protect cushions, armchairs or other pieces of furniture or parts of furniture. There is also an option for protecting shopping carts in supermarkets.
- Another application relates to the hygiene / hospital area.
- the protective cover can be mounted around a mattress or a mattress part. In all these cases, the front layer can be used as an advertising medium.
- the finished assembled motor vehicle has to be driven off the conveyor belt, driven onto trucks or railway wagons and ultimately handled several more times by the motor vehicle dealer until the motor vehicle can ultimately be delivered to the purchaser or purchaser.
- the motor vehicle seats come about 30 to 35 times in contact with fitters and other people, so that there is a significant risk of contamination.
- seat covers made of plastic film are already known, which are often already at the seat manufacturer, but no later than the motor vehicle manufacturer, slipped over the motor vehicle seats, especially the driver's seat, and removed before delivery of the vehicle to the customer.
- Such original equipment seat covers typically do not differ much from the seat covers used during inspection or repair of a motor vehicle. They can be made of relatively thicker plastic film, which is the greater extent of the claim.
- a protective cover of the type described above from double-layer plastic film is known from DE 41 32 714 C1.
- the regions of the reserve which form the two pockets are connected by connecting strips which extend over the free edges of the regions forming the pockets along the transverse welds.
- the connecting strips are also connected to the front layer, so that the thus substantially continuous reserve has an edge-closed recess.
- the two layers of the seat cover, so the front and the reserve thus have the same size outline and are connected to each other at all four edges, ie both in the transverse welds throughout and in the region of the longitudinal edges.
- the edge-closed recess is provided in the reserve, which is arranged on all sides and at a distance from the outline of the flat seat cover and represents the only opening, with the help of the seat cover can be slipped over the backrest and the seat cushion.
- the pockets connecting transverse pockets created that engage behind the seat cushion and the backrest in the transition area and thus effective protection of these vulnerable points of the Represent motor vehicle seat against pollution.
- the risk of slipping when using the motor vehicle seat, which is protected with a seat cover is virtually eliminated. Nevertheless, any manual labor is avoided in the production of this seat cover. Also eliminates the additional use of rubber bands, foil strips u. Like. And it is unnecessary additional installation work.
- the front layer is connected to the reserve at each seat continuously.
- the transverse welding can take place in such a way that the individual seat covers are at the same time separated from one another, so that they can be stored stacked in a stack and can also be sent to the seat manufacturer or automobile manufacturer in this way.
- the individual seat covers hang on perforations and wound up such a continuous web on a supply roll.
- the plastic film used for the production of seat covers has for reasons of material saving only a small thickness, so that when slipping over the risk of tearing exists. In such a case, the proper seat of the seat cover on the motor vehicle seat is no longer guaranteed.
- DE-U-298 15 057 shows and describes a removable cover for sitting or lying cushions, which has a front layer of inelastic fabric for visible overlapping of a pad.
- the removable cover has a reserve in the form of an elastically stretchable tension strip circumferentially connected to the peripheral edge of the reference part and a rubber elastic strap surrounding the free inner edge of the tension strip.
- the reserve may even consist of three elements, namely additionally having a reference opening cross-tie for releasably connecting opposing portions of the tension strip.
- Another known seat cover is first prepared as described in DE-B-16 30 878. After the plastic web has been divided into the individual seat covers, a half-tube is welded along the free edges of the pockets formed by the reserve and along the free edges of the front layer in the area not covered by the pockets. When welding the half hose, a rubber band is inserted in the form of a loop.
- a coating in particular a protective cover for motor vehicle seats or other seating furniture is known, which consists of a mutually elastically stretchable Untergarngewebe with high rewind and knitted in stretched state of the elastic Gamgewebes high pile wool or a similar material.
- a cover is suitable for virtually all upholstery of vehicle seats and similar seating. It completely encloses the seating and thus fulfills its protective function. Due to the large extensibility of such a coating is easy to use and can be easily applied to the seat. It is as it creates a universal cover, which also adapts to motor vehicle seats of different shapes.
- the cover may consist of several parts or layers, wherein in one of the layers an opening is provided to pull the cover over both the backrest and on the seat cushion can.
- the invention has for its object to provide a suitable in particular for original equipment protective cover made of plastic film, which is mechanically produced, a slight coating over the object, in particular the motor vehicle seat allows, while still providing an improved tight fit on the object, all essential elements of the object, eg Motor vehicle seat, to be enclosed protectively.
- the protective cover is intended to enable multiple removal and reassembly of the bag intended for the seat cushion.
- the invention is based on the idea to change the material properties of the plastic film used for the production of the protective cover so that the protective cover at least partially from the object, in particular seat cushion of the motor vehicle seat, removed and can be reinvested. This should be possible at least a few times, without the plastic film tearing or the tight fit after re-applying significantly subsides or is lost. It is therefore about the use of an elastic film for at least certain areas of the protective cover. The elasticity and the associated resilience are used to facilitate removal and reassembly. This can be useful, for example, already in the assembly of the motor vehicle seat in the vehicle, because in the removed state fastening screws of the seat are better accessible.
- a drawer, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid box o. The like. It may be useful or even necessary to temporarily solve the protective cushion enclosing pocket of the seat cover, without the backrest enclosing pocket of the protective cover is released. The same applies to the connection or adjustment of the position of the seat changing seat motors, ventilation equipment and the like .. It may happen that the protective cover must be removed and re-applied up to about 10 times and more. Even then, the protective cover must fulfill its protective function properly.
- the protective cover can be advantageously made slightly smaller in its dimensions than before. The elasticity of a stretchable film still provides easy handling when slipping over and improved fit. The protective cover gets as it were rubber-elastic properties and the resilience is advantageously used.
- the protective cover lies in slipped-over state exactly to the contours of the motor vehicle seat. This eliminates a possibility of interference when z. B. the correct position of the vehicle seat in the vehicle with electronic barriers measured and checked. Overhanging foil areas or folds of the seat cover on the motor vehicle seat can no longer lead to disruption.
- the new seat cover also has advantages when slipping or mounting on a motor vehicle seat. It can be quickly and safely and wrinkle-free with the contours of the motor vehicle seat tightly umschmonyem seat be raised.
- the elastic film is preferably used in the region of the reserve of the seat cover and also there only partially or partially. At least the connecting strips consist of the elastic, resilient plastic film. This is already sufficient to achieve the desired effect in the area surrounding the seat cushion bag. But it is also possible to form larger areas of the reserve or the entire reserve of the elastic plastic film.
- the resilient, resilient plastic film should have such resilience and resilience that the seat cover can be pulled up and down several times from the motor vehicle seat. This corresponds to the conditions of use in the assembly of a motor vehicle seat on the assembly line of the motor vehicle.
- the film must be such Endure handling without breaking in or out.
- the plastic film forming the reserve should have an elastic elongation of at least 50%. Preferably, it should have at least 60% elastic elongation. Whether a film material meets these conditions can be determined with a simple experiment, for example, as follows: starting from a test strip of z. B. 50 mm length in the unstretched state takes a momentarily acting elongation of this test strip to 150 mm (200%) with subsequent relaxation (relaxation).
- the test strip very quickly assumes a permanent length of 75 mm, so it has plastically expanded from 50 mm to 75 mm (50%).
- the total elongation of 200% is composed of 50% plastic elongation and 150% elastic elongation.
- the tested plastic film thus has an elastic elongation of 150%.
- the edge-closed recess advantageously has an oval shape or a rectangular shape with rounded corners. This is advantageous in several ways. The risk of tearing is further reduced and the tight fit favors. The motor vehicle seat is optimally enclosed and thus protected.
- the reserve may consist of a copolymer, in particular of ethylene-vinyl acetate or butylene-vinyl acetate. Other materials can meet the requirements, for. As well as a thermoplastic elastomer or a particularly elastic low-density material which is used at least in layers or in blends or 100%.
- the backing may consist of a multilayer film of which one layer has a high tear resistance and the other layer has a high resilience.
- the arrangement of the two layers relative to the motor vehicle seat is arbitrary.
- the backing layer forming multilayer film may have a third layer with good welding properties, which is used facing the front layer.
- the plastic film forming the front layer may be slip-proof on the inner side facing the motor vehicle seat and smooth on the outer side. Thus, there is no risk that the seat cover slips relative to the motor vehicle seat during assembly of the motor vehicle, even if the fitters are known to put up about 35 times on the so protected motor vehicle seat.
- the process for the production of protective covers for the protection of motor vehicle seats assumes that from plastic film in the form of flat films, the front and the back formed forming webs and the two tracks for each seat cover by transverse welding and by at least one longitudinal weld are joined together.
- an edge-closed recess of oval or rectangular shape with rounded corners in the form of a gate or a cut is introduced into the backsheet-forming web per seat cover.
- At least the reserve is formed wholly or partly of elastic, resilient plastic film with an elastic elongation of at least 50%.
- these two longitudinal seams produced by the longitudinal welds extend in the conveying direction of the endless webs of the flat films.
- This special design the two free corners of the seat cushion are particularly effective and large area wrapped and protected.
- the seat cover has the required mobility for easy slipping over the motor vehicle seat.
- This special design of the connecting strip gives the edge-closed recess an oval or rectangular shape.
- the edge-closed recess can be realized by a cutout, ie by a piece of waste is cut in the path of the reserve. But it is also possible to realize the recess only by an approximately U-shaped gate and leave a relevant flap to the reserve, which does not interfere with the handling of the seat cover.
- the edge-closed recess has rounded corners, so that tearing of the plastic film when slipping over the vehicle seat is avoided.
- the web forming the front layer and / or the web forming the reserve can also be provided with non-slip protection. This is particularly true for the front layer forming web, so that the seat cover in this area can not slip sideways, if it is claimed by repeated Niedersitz and getting up again by a fitter or another operator.
- the adhesion of the front layer on the motor vehicle seat relieves the stress of the welds.
- the seat cover 1 shown in a flat-lying state in FIG. 1 consists of a double-layered plastic film.
- reserve 2 Under the reserve 2 is located as a second layer, a front position 3.
- reserve 2 and front layer 3 form after welding a continuous piece of plastic film, the reserve 2 with the front layer 3 via a first longitudinal weld 4 are in communication.
- reserve 2 and front layer 3 are likewise connected via a second longitudinal weld 5 in the form of a continuous longitudinal weld seam.
- this longitudinal welds 4 and 5 is indicated by dashed lines, it is expedient to attach these longitudinal seams continuously, so without interruption points.
- the reserve 2 is connected to the front layer 3 but also via two transverse welds 6 and 7.
- the transverse welds 6 and 7 connect to the longitudinal weld 4 and extend to the longitudinal weld 5, so that ultimately the backsheet 2 and the front ply 3 are connected continuously along their contours.
- the term longitudinally and transversely with respect to a conveying direction according to arrow 8 is selected, ie a direction in which an endless web is processed in the production of individual seat covers.
- the longitudinal weld 4 and the longitudinal weld 5 thus extend parallel to the arrow 8, while the transverse welds 6 and 7 extend transversely thereto.
- In the manufacture of flat films for the front layer 3 on the one hand and for the reserve 2 on the other hand can be used. But it is also possible to create the entire seat cover of tubing with the appropriate return properties.
- an edge-closed recess 9 is provided with rounded corners 10.
- This recess 9 has approximately rectangular outline and is in the inner field of the reserve 2, that is arranged at a distance from the longitudinal weld 4, the longitudinal weld 5 and the transverse welds 6 and 7.
- the front layer 3 has no such recess, but is provided throughout the entire surface.
- the bag 12 has as it were a free edge 18 and the pocket 14 has a free edge 19, which extend substantially parallel to the arrow 8.
- the two edges 18 and 19 or the areas 11 and 13 of the reserve 2 are connected to each other via connecting strips 20. It is important that the transverse welds 6 and 7 are provided continuously, so that the connecting strips 20 are connected to the front layer 3.
- the connecting strip 20 the motor vehicle seat 16 in the transition region between the seat cushion 17 and back rest 15 particularly effectively embrace or engage behind and thus protect against contamination (Fig. 3).
- the front layer 3 extends in the turned-over position of the seat cover 1 on the motor vehicle seat 16, over the seat surface 21 of the seat cushion 17 and over the backrest surface 22 of the backrest 15, which interacts with the back of the user of the seat.
- the reserve 2 engages behind the backrest 15 and engages under the seat cushion 17th
- FIGS. 4 and 5 show in several steps a manufacturing possibility for the seat cover 1 according to FIGS. 1 to 3.
- flat films are used in continuous web of plastic.
- the two webs forming the backsheet 2 and the front layer 3 are guided away from each other (see in particular FIG. 5) and moved stepwise according to the arrows 25 in the direction of the arrow 4.
- the web forming the reserve 2 is guided by a punching tool 26, the patrizenförmiger part 27 is disposed above the forming the reserve 2 web, while the associated female part 28 below the reserve 2 forming web, ie between the reserve 2 forming web and the front layer 3 forming web is arranged stationary.
- the patrizenförmige part 27 is driven up and down according to double arrow 29, wherein at each stroke, the opening forming an opening 9 is punched out and discharged in the form of a piece of waste. It is also possible to cut the recess 9 in the form of a piece of waste with a knife by machine.
- the webs forming the reserve 2 and the front layer 3 are guided flat on top of each other and the longitudinal welds 4 and 5 and the transverse welds 6 and 7 are effected, these transverse welds 6 and 7 being illustrated by two arrows in FIG.
- the transverse welds 6 and 7 connect on the one hand the reserve 2 with the front layer 3 and on the other hand separate the preceding seat cover 1 from the subsequent seat cover 1. Simultaneously with the attachment of the recess 9 and two punched holes 30 can be mounted in the longitudinal weld 4, for the Mounting a headrest on the backrest 15 are determined.
- the attachment of these punched-30 can also be done together with the longitudinal weld 5 or the transverse welds 6 and 7.
- the illustrated relative position is advantageous, because then the recess 9 is arranged in the region of a free longitudinal edge 23.
- the free longitudinal edge 24 of the front layer 3 coincides with the free longitudinal edge 23 of the reserve. 2
- FIGS. 6 and 7 a further manufacturing possibility for a slightly modified seat cover 1 is shown.
- two separate flat films are used, one flat film forming the reserve 2 and the other flat film forming the front layer 3.
- a longitudinal weld 4 is present, while at the other longitudinal edge of the longitudinal weld 5 is provided.
- a recess 9 is provided in the reserve 2.
- no cutout in the form of a piece of waste is punched out, but only a U-shaped limited bleed 31 is introduced, so that as it were a flap is created and a Waste piece is avoided.
- Such a flap also forms the recess 9 and does not hinder the slippage of the seat cover 1 on the motor vehicle seat 16.

Seat covers made of plastic film are slipped or pulled over motor vehicle seats to prevent soiling of the motor vehicle seat by fitters and other people. Such seat covers are known in their application in automobile workshops, when an inspection or repair is performed on motor vehicles. But also at the Original equipment of a motor vehicle, ie in the automobile plant during assembly of the motor vehicle, the motor vehicle seats are already exposed to a risk of contamination. This risk of contamination even begins even with the manufacturer of motor vehicle seats and the supply of seats to the car factory. It continues with the equipping of conveyor systems with the seats, which ultimately lead to the assembly line of the motor vehicle. Even during assembly of the motor vehicle, a large number of fitters come into contact with the motor vehicle seats one after the other. Finally, the finished assembled motor vehicle has to be driven off the conveyor belt, driven onto trucks or railway wagons and ultimately handled several more times by the motor vehicle dealer until the motor vehicle can ultimately be delivered to the purchaser or purchaser. From the production of the seat at the supplier to the delivery of the motor vehicle to the purchaser or customer, the motor vehicle seats come about 30 to 35 times in contact with fitters and other people, so that there is a significant risk of contamination. To counteract this risk of contamination, seat covers made of plastic film are already known, which are often already at the seat manufacturer, but no later than the motor vehicle manufacturer, slipped over the motor vehicle seats, especially the driver's seat, and removed before delivery of the vehicle to the customer. Such original equipment seat covers typically do not differ much from the seat covers used during inspection or repair of a motor vehicle. They can be made of relatively thicker plastic film, which is the greater extent of the claim.
A protective cover of the type described above from double-layer plastic film is known from DE 41 32 714 C1. In this case, the regions of the reserve which form the two pockets are connected by connecting strips which extend over the free edges of the regions forming the pockets along the transverse welds. The connecting strips are also connected to the front layer, so that the thus substantially continuous reserve has an edge-closed recess. The two layers of the seat cover, so the front and the reserve, thus have the same size outline and are connected to each other at all four edges, ie both in the transverse welds throughout and in the region of the longitudinal edges. While the front layer is formed continuously closed, the edge-closed recess is provided in the reserve, which is arranged on all sides and at a distance from the outline of the flat seat cover and represents the only opening, with the help of the seat cover can be slipped over the backrest and the seat cushion. Through the connecting strips next to the two previously known pockets, as it were additional, the pockets connecting transverse pockets created that engage behind the seat cushion and the backrest in the transition area and thus effective protection of these vulnerable points of the Represent motor vehicle seat against pollution. The risk of slipping when using the motor vehicle seat, which is protected with a seat cover, is virtually eliminated. Nevertheless, any manual labor is avoided in the production of this seat cover. Also eliminates the additional use of rubber bands, foil strips u. Like. And it is unnecessary additional installation work. When slipping over the seat cover of this more likely gets into his the seat cushion and the backrest enclosing protective position. Through the transverse welding, the front layer is connected to the reserve at each seat continuously. On the other hand, however, the transverse welding can take place in such a way that the individual seat covers are at the same time separated from one another, so that they can be stored stacked in a stack and can also be sent to the seat manufacturer or automobile manufacturer in this way. In addition, it is also possible to have the individual seat covers hang on perforations and wound up such a continuous web on a supply roll. The plastic film used for the production of seat covers has for reasons of material saving only a small thickness, so that when slipping over the risk of tearing exists. In such a case, the proper seat of the seat cover on the motor vehicle seat is no longer guaranteed.
If motor vehicle seats, with the backrest hanging down on a conveyor belt, are fed to the assembly line of the motor vehicle, there is still the risk that the seat covers unintentionally come off the motor vehicle seat and fall down. In this way, they no longer fulfill their protective function. To counteract this danger, it is known to use a rubber band as a separate part of the seat cover, which is guided as a closed loop after slipping over the seat cover on the backrest that it rests in the transition region between the seat cushion and backrest. By this measure, the unintentional falling off of a seat cover is avoided by a hanging promoted motor vehicle seat. At the same time the front position of the seat cover is fixed in the transition region between the seat cushion and the backrest by the rubber band, so that a risk of slipping is counteracted. The use of such rubber bands in addition to seat covers, however, is more expensive and provides only limited relief against the risk of contamination.
Instead of the additional use of a rubber band, it is already known, for example, in the middle region of the free edge of the bag, which encloses the backrest to weld two film strips. These two film strips are wrapped in the manner of ribbons on a apron after slipping over the protective cover over the seat forward and there knotted together, so that here a closer concern of the front position of the seat cover in the transition region between the seat cushion and backrest is achieved. The production of this additional film strip and in particular the welding is expensive, requires after slipping over the seat cover an additional Verknotungsvorgang and also brings only a limited remedy against the risk of contamination. Compared to a rubber band, the foil strips sit comparatively high on the backrest.
Die Rücklage kann sogar aus drei Elementen bestehen, nämlich noch zusätzlich ein die Bezugsöffnung übergreifendes Zugband zum lösbaren Verbinden einander gegenüberliegende Abschnitte des Spannstreifens aufweisen.DE-U-298 15 057 shows and describes a removable cover for sitting or lying cushions, which has a front layer of inelastic fabric for visible overlapping of a pad. The removable cover has a reserve in the form of an elastically stretchable tension strip circumferentially connected to the peripheral edge of the reference part and a rubber elastic strap surrounding the free inner edge of the tension strip. The reserve may even consist of three elements, namely additionally having a reference opening cross-tie for releasably connecting opposing portions of the tension strip.
Another known seat cover is first prepared as described in DE-B-16 30 878. After the plastic web has been divided into the individual seat covers, a half-tube is welded along the free edges of the pockets formed by the reserve and along the free edges of the front layer in the area not covered by the pockets. When welding the half hose, a rubber band is inserted in the form of a loop. With this rubber band, an opening is then created on the seat cover, which is used for slipping on the motor vehicle seat, the rubber band then exerts a certain tightening effect, so that in particular the front position of the seat cover is held closer to the seat cushion and the backrest , Such a seat cover is by the welding of the half-tube with the rubber band, which is performed by hand, particularly complex and expensive, but on the other hand, provides a good protective effect. The slipping of such a seat cover on a motor vehicle seat, however, is relatively difficult to carry out as in the seat cover described above.
It is also known, shrink already in the manufacturer of the motor vehicle seat, the seat cushion on the one hand and the backrest on the other hand in each shrink film piece and only then bring together the seat cushion and the backrest during assembly of the seat. These two parts made of shrink film then remain on the motor vehicle seat and protect it on its way through the car manufacturer to the delivery of the motor vehicle to the buyer or customer. The shrinking means here, however, a considerable additional effort, even at corresponding shrinking devices.
It is also known, especially from low-wage countries, to sew a rubber band on the edge of an edge-closed recess of a seat cover made of plastic film. The sewing is done by hand and under fixation of the rubber band under tension. This has the consequence that the rubber band as an elastic foreign body contracts the inelastic film with wrinkling. This not only disturbs visually, but also prevents the winding on a roll. Even as a single piece in the stack, such seat covers are difficult to handle. Other disadvantages, such as a wrinkled seat on the motor vehicle seat, a susceptibility to electronic barriers o. The like., A risk of tearing and tear of the film are the result.
From DE-A-19 20 529 a coating, in particular a protective cover for motor vehicle seats or other seating furniture is known, which consists of a mutually elastically stretchable Untergarngewebe with high rewind and knitted in stretched state of the elastic Gamgewebes high pile wool or a similar material. Such a cover is suitable for virtually all upholstery of vehicle seats and similar seating. It completely encloses the seating and thus fulfills its protective function. Due to the large extensibility of such a coating is easy to use and can be easily applied to the seat. It is as it creates a universal cover, which also adapts to motor vehicle seats of different shapes. The cover may consist of several parts or layers, wherein in one of the layers an opening is provided to pull the cover over both the backrest and on the seat cushion can.
The invention has for its object to provide a suitable in particular for original equipment protective cover made of plastic film, which is mechanically produced, a slight coating over the object, in particular the motor vehicle seat allows, while still providing an improved tight fit on the object, all essential elements of the object, eg Motor vehicle seat, to be enclosed protectively. The protective cover is intended to enable multiple removal and reassembly of the bag intended for the seat cushion.
According to the invention this is achieved in that at least the reserve entirely or partially consists of elastic, resilient plastic film with an elastic elongation of at least 50%.
The invention is based on the idea to change the material properties of the plastic film used for the production of the protective cover so that the protective cover at least partially from the object, in particular seat cushion of the motor vehicle seat, removed and can be reinvested. Also, when installing a drawer, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid box o. The protective cover can be advantageously made slightly smaller in its dimensions than before. The elasticity of a stretchable film still provides easy handling when slipping over and improved fit. The protective cover gets as it were rubber-elastic properties and the resilience is advantageously used. The protective cover lies in slipped-over state exactly to the contours of the motor vehicle seat. This eliminates a possibility of interference when z. B. the correct position of the vehicle seat in the vehicle with electronic barriers measured and checked. Overhanging foil areas or folds of the seat cover on the motor vehicle seat can no longer lead to disruption. The new seat cover also has advantages when slipping or mounting on a motor vehicle seat. It can be quickly and safely and wrinkle-free with the contours of the motor vehicle seat tightly umschließem seat be raised.
The elastic film is preferably used in the region of the reserve of the seat cover and also there only partially or partially. At least the connecting strips consist of the elastic, resilient plastic film. This is already sufficient to achieve the desired effect in the area surrounding the seat cushion bag. But it is also possible to form larger areas of the reserve or the entire reserve of the elastic plastic film.
The resilient, resilient plastic film should have such resilience and resilience that the seat cover can be pulled up and down several times from the motor vehicle seat. This corresponds to the conditions of use in the assembly of a motor vehicle seat on the assembly line of the motor vehicle. The film must be such Endure handling without breaking in or out. The plastic film forming the reserve should have an elastic elongation of at least 50%. The test strip very quickly assumes a permanent length of 75 mm, so it has plastically expanded from 50 mm to 75 mm (50%). The total elongation of 200% is composed of 50% plastic elongation and 150% elastic elongation. The tested plastic film thus has an elastic elongation of 150%.
The edge-closed recess advantageously has an oval shape or a rectangular shape with rounded corners. This is advantageous in several ways. The risk of tearing is further reduced and the tight fit favors. The motor vehicle seat is optimally enclosed and thus protected.
The reserve may consist of a copolymer, in particular of ethylene-vinyl acetate or butylene-vinyl acetate. Other materials can meet the requirements, for. As well as a thermoplastic elastomer or a particularly elastic low-density material which is used at least in layers or in blends or 100%.
The backing may consist of a multilayer film of which one layer has a high tear resistance and the other layer has a high resilience. The arrangement of the two layers relative to the motor vehicle seat is arbitrary.
The backing layer forming multilayer film may have a third layer with good welding properties, which is used facing the front layer.
The plastic film forming the front layer may be slip-proof on the inner side facing the motor vehicle seat and smooth on the outer side. Thus, there is no risk that the seat cover slips relative to the motor vehicle seat during assembly of the motor vehicle, even if the fitters are known to put up about 35 times on the so protected motor vehicle seat.
The process for the production of protective covers for the protection of motor vehicle seats assumes that from plastic film in the form of flat films, the front and the back formed forming webs and the two tracks for each seat cover by transverse welding and by at least one longitudinal weld are joined together. According to the invention, an edge-closed recess of oval or rectangular shape with rounded corners in the form of a gate or a cut is introduced into the backsheet-forming web per seat cover. At least the reserve is formed wholly or partly of elastic, resilient plastic film with an elastic elongation of at least 50%. By using flat films, it is readily possible to combine and weld together different materials. Thus, the front layer and the reserve can each be formed from a flat film. The two tracks are connected to each other via two longitudinal welds. It is understood that these two longitudinal seams produced by the longitudinal welds extend in the conveying direction of the endless webs of the flat films. This special design, the two free corners of the seat cushion are particularly effective and large area wrapped and protected. At the same time, the seat cover has the required mobility for easy slipping over the motor vehicle seat. This special design of the connecting strip gives the edge-closed recess an oval or rectangular shape. The edge-closed recess can be realized by a cutout, ie by a piece of waste is cut in the path of the reserve. But it is also possible to realize the recess only by an approximately U-shaped gate and leave a relevant flap to the reserve, which does not interfere with the handling of the seat cover. The edge-closed recess has rounded corners, so that tearing of the plastic film when slipping over the vehicle seat is avoided.
In the production possibilities indicated, the web forming the front layer and / or the web forming the reserve can also be provided with non-slip protection. This is particularly true for the front layer forming web, so that the seat cover in this area can not slip sideways, if it is claimed by repeated Niedersitz and getting up again by a fitter or another operator. The adhesion of the front layer on the motor vehicle seat relieves the stress of the welds.

The
An area of the reserve forms a
Based on the sectional view of Fig. 2, the two-ply design of the
In a further production step, the webs forming the
With reference to FIGS. 6 and 7, a further manufacturing possibility for a slightly modified
