Method of manufacturing filter cigarettes having compound filters made of different rod-shaped filter components, which on separate conveying paths are removed in multiples of the useful length from separate storage containers, subdivided and inserted between two tobacco rods aligned coaxially with one another, wherein on the one conveying path rod-shaped filter components are subdivided into pairs of individual filter plugs and on the other conveying path rod-shaped filter components are subdivided into double-length filter plugs and the filter plugs of the two filter components are inserted successively between the tobacco rods, characterized in that the tobacco rods are fed in double length by a drum, cut through the middle on a cutting drum and pulled apart from one another in the direction of their longitudinal axis on a spreading drum.
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterized in that first the pairs of individual filter plugs and then the double-length filter plugs are inserted between the tobacco rods.
  3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the individual filter plugs are inserted into a position adjoining the tobacco rods and the double-length filter plugs are inserted into a central gap between the individual filter plugs.
  4. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the individual filter plugs are obtained from filter rods of twelve times the useful length and the double-length filter plugs are obtained from filter rods of six times the useful length.
  5. Device for manufacturing filter cigarettes having compound filters made of different rod-shaped filter components, comprising separate storage containers for filter rods of multiple useful length, associated with which on separate conveying paths are conveyor drums for subdividing, grouping and inserting the rod-shaped filter components between two tobacco rods aligned coaxially with one another, characterized in that the one conveying path is formed by five conveyor drums (1, 7, 9, 14, 17), comprising a cutting drum (1) with two circular knives (4) for twice subdividing filter rods (2) of six times the useful length that are removed from the one separate storage container (3), a staggering drum (7) for staggering, a pushing drum (9) with a circular knife (12) for successively transverse-axially lining up and subdividing the obtained filter rods (6) of twice the useful length into individual filter plugs (13), a spreading drum (14) for spreading in the direction of the longitudinal axis, and an acceleration drum (17)for increasing the spacing in the direction of the transverse axis for insertion of the individual filter plugs (13) between the tobacco rods (22), and that the other conveying path is formed by six conveyor drums (29, 36, 38, 43, 46, 48), comprising a cutting drum (29) with two circular knives (33) for twice subdividing filter rods (31) of twelve times the useful length that are removed from the other separate storage container (32), a staggering drum (36) for staggering, a pushing drum (38) with a circular knife (41) for successively transverse-axially lining up and subdividing the obtained filter rods (34) of four times the useful length, a staggering drum (43) for staggering, a pushing drum (46) for successive transverse-axial lining-up, and an acceleration drum (48) for increasing the spacing in the direction of the transverse axis for insertion of the obtained filter rods (42) of twice the useful length between the tobacco rods (22).
  6. Device according to claim 5, characterized in that the conveying path for the one filter component formed by five conveyor drums (1, 7, 9, 14, 17) is workingly connected - in relation to the conveying direction of the tobacco rods (22) along a conveying path formed by butt-mounted conveyor drums (23, 24, 27) - upstream by an assembly drum (19) to the conveying path of the tobacco rods and that the conveying path for the other filter component formed by six conveyor drums (29, 36, 38, 43, 46, 48) is workingly connected downstream by an assembly drum (49) to the conveying path of the tobacco rods.
