- the gloss and smoothness of the paper web are common thereby increased that the paper web following the Drying section of the paper machine consisting of a smoothing unit passes through one or more nips, the gloss and / or the smoothness of the paper web by the pressure in the Nip and the temperature of the nip forming the nip Rolling is increased.
- Supercalenders have a large number on top of each other arranged rollers and nips provided between them that are traversed by the paper web. Through the Many nips result in a high degree of coverage and a good distribution of the satin work between print and Temperature.
- Super calenders are usually provided offline, i.e. the one coming out of the paper machine Paper web first wound up on a spool and with this is transferred to the super calender, which she then with at a significantly lower speed than the paper machine speed goes through.
- the offline installation has the advantage that the paper web is in the Supercalender can still compensate, so that in the supercalender not with the conditions influenced by many factors must be worked from the paper machine.
- machine or soft calenders can be connected online to a paper machine and therefore be traversed at paper machine speed.
- Machine calenders however, have only a few nips, see above that worked with higher pressure and temperature and the Paper web is stressed accordingly. More essential
- the disadvantage of the soft calender is that not all types of paper in high quality can be refined.
- SC-A paper it is not possible with a high-density online soft calender Manufacture SC-A paper. It is more recent managed the printability properties of a with 11 Nips of super calendered gravure paper too to achieve with only 4 nips of a soft calender, yes are relatively high roller temperatures and compressive stresses required in the nips.
- the object of the invention is therefore the online production of Allow paper with high smoothness.
- This object is essentially achieved with the invention solved that the coming out of the paper machine, online one Supercalender (multinip soft calender) fed paper web before passing through the first nip with spray is moistened and that the spray mist is about 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s before the paper web the first Roll nip passes through is applied to the paper web.
- Supercalender multinip soft calender
- the moistening of paper webs with the help of nozzle dampers is basically known.

Such humidification has so far been used only used for the offline treatment of paper webs, so that the moisture has enough time to spread evenly to distribute over the paper web.
- the online humidification will previously carried out by means of steam blow boxes, the at Spray mist by definition occurring drop formation straight should be prevented.
- the invention recognized that the choice of an appropriate distance between the spray mist and the first nip of the Supercalender also with the online installation and with Conveyed paper web one evenly moistened paper web is accessible.
- a period of 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s is sufficient to get an evenly moistened Get paper web.
- the location of the humidifier depends essentially on the paper machine speed from. At a normal paper machine speed of up to 1,400 m / min with a desired exposure time of 0.7 s a spatial Distance of the moistening device from the first nip of approx. 16 m. This is appropriate in paper machines Deflections of the paper web can be easily realized.
- the education Too large drops would even out the moisture distribution prevent in the paper web, causing deterioration in quality during treatment in the nips would lead.
- the paper web especially in the case of vapor deposition, immediately before the first nip, as in DE 43 01 023 C2 is proposed, treated gently in the calender , it is possible to use a to supply relatively high initial moisture.
- the moisture content of the paper web is increased by approx. 5 to 7% due to the spray humidification. Based on an average humidity of 2 to 4% after leaving the paper machine, the paper web proves humidification thus a moisture of about 7 to 11%.
- the increased moisture content makes it easier to deform the paper web on the first nip of the supercalender.
- the Spray with water with reduced surface tension is produced. So the spray is according to the invention warm water is generated or the spray water becomes surfactants or the like added to increase the surface tension reduce.
- the droplet size is reduced by that the spray is sprayed with air.
- the moisture of the Paper web in front of and / or behind the humidifier determined and that the humidification depending on the determined Humidity actual values and predetermined setpoints is regulated.
- the gloss and / or the Smoothness of the paper web measured and any gloss and / or Differences in smoothness determined over the width of the paper web.
- the individual spray heads of the nozzle humidifier can be used individually are controlled so that the fog application in the transverse direction the paper web on the determined gloss and / or Differences in smoothness can be adjusted.
- top and bottom of the paper web moistened so that the one to be applied to the single page
- the amount of moisture can be reduced accordingly.
- the task is done with a device for online production solved by paper in that with a paper machine one dryer section and one behind the dryer section online arranged super calender (multinip soft calender) with one A large number of nips passing through the paper web following the dryer section of the paper machine a moistening device with at least one nozzle moistener to apply a spray to the paper web is provided, the moistening device being of the supercalender is spaced so that the paper web first nip about 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s after humidification.
- the moistening device each has at least one one of the top and bottom of the paper web assigned nozzle humidifier.
- the A nozzle suction is provided, with which the fog in the Unit can be kept and an even distance the paper web to the nozzles can be guaranteed.
- the Suction creates a vacuum that compensates for the fact that the paper web is spray-moistened by the Nozzle moisture is pushed away.
- the nozzles in particular are Moistening the top of the paper web arranged horizontally, because of a downward spray could cause drop problems.
- a plurality of are preferably in the nozzle moistener Spray heads arranged side by side according to the invention can be controlled individually or in groups. It will enables detected differences in gloss and / or smoothness in the transverse direction of the paper web by appropriate control to compensate for the spray strength of individual spray nozzles.

- On the housing 20 is in the range Drip pan 22 also provided a suction 24 through which the mist is held in the unit and the paper web is open brought a uniform distance to the spray heads 21 can be.
- the adjustable sealing strips 26th can have. Pressure compensation is achieved via perforated plates 27 reached in the spray area and the return of possibly condensing moisture in the drip pan 22 allows.
- a so-called double-stack supercalender can be used, in which two groups of nips are arranged one behind the other, which are successively traversed by the paper web. This reduces the height of the calender. in the the rest of the device 1 remains unchanged.
- the method can be used with a double-stack supercalender perform in the same manner as that in FIG. 1 illustrated calender.
- the paper web 3 emerging from the dryer section 2 of the paper machine in the usual way has a moisture content of about 2 to 4% (weight percent), which is checked via the measuring frame 6.
- the surface tension of the water used for the spray mist is reduced by heating and / or the addition of surfactants or the like.
- the moistening device 7 the moisture of the web in the measuring frame 10 is checked again, the paper web 3 here having a moisture content of about 7 to 11%.
- the moistening device 7 is approximately 0.6 to 1.2, preferably 0.8 to 1 s before the first nip 12 1 of the supercalender 11 arranged.
- the moistening device 7 is arranged only 0.4 to 0.6 s before the first nip 12 1 .
- the localization of the moistening device 7 thus depends on the paper machine speed. With a paper machine speed of approximately 1,400 m / min and a desired time interval of 0.7 s between moistening and the first nip, this results in a distance of approximately 16.3 m. When the paper machine speed changes, the moistening device 7 must be shifted accordingly.
- the steam delivery device 16, 16 ' hot, droplet-free steam is applied to the paper web surface immediately before the first nip 12 1 of the supercalender 11, the steam temperature in the steam blowing chamber of the steam delivery device 16, 16' being approximately in the range from 102 ° C. to 110 ° C is to prevent condensation of the steam.
- the steam delivery device 16, 16 ' is brought as close as possible to the nip 12 1 , the distance in turn being adjustable depending on the speed at which the paper web 3 passes through the nip 12.
- the steam emerging from the steam delivery device 16, 16 ′ spreads out at a relatively uniform pressure and a uniformly high speed of, for example, 25 m / s or more.
- the steam condenses, drastically increasing the temperature on the surface of the paper web 3.
- the surface will be approximately 90 ° C. hot after the condensation of the steam.
- the condensed steam forms a moisture film, the strength of which is, for example, in the range of a thousandth of a millimeter.
- the condensation results in an almost sudden increase in temperature of the surface of the paper web 3, but this compensates for itself within a very short time via the thickness of the paper web 3, so that the paper web 3 has a uniform temperature distribution within fractions of a second.
- the equalization of the moisture distribution takes a little longer because the moisture penetrates into the paper web 3 more slowly than the temperature. (With evaporation, however, the evaporation takes place considerably faster than with spray humidification.) Therefore, the top layer (with SC-A paper with a fabric weight of approx. 50 g / m 2, about a third of the paper web) has a significantly higher relative humidity than the middle area of the paper web 3. The further the moisture penetrates into the interior of the paper web 3, the more the relative humidity decreases.
- the paper web 3 Before the moisture in the surface (upper third or, in the case of vapor deposition, the lower third) of the paper web 3 has dropped below a predetermined value in the range from 12% to 25%, in particular from 16 to 25%, the paper web 3 passes through the first nip 12 1 of the supercalender 11. Also the temperature of the paper web 3 is not yet balanced at this time, rather the temperature increase in the middle third of the paper web caused by the steam application should not yet have reached 1 / e times the temperature increase of the surface of the paper web.
- the paper web 3 is treated by smoothing the surface of the paper web 3, which still has the elevated temperature and humidity, or is provided with an increased gloss.
- the areas of the paper web 3 located further inside are not significantly changed by the nip 12 1 .
- the paper web 3 then runs through the further nips 12 2 to 12 9 of the supercalender 11, the paper web 3 being moistened by the steam delivery devices 18 before individual nips in order to improve the increase in gloss and smoothness.
- the humidification is carried out by the Humidification device 7 and the steam output by the Steam delivery devices 16, 16 'controlled.
- the supercalender 11 becomes a paper web 3 supplied with high initial moisture, which in connection with the gentle treatment of the paper web with high humidity and temperature in the surface areas of online production of paper with excellent smoothness enables.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for producing Paper with high smoothness, being from the paper machine upcoming paper web online a super calender (multinip soft calender) is supplied, in order to achieve the desired smoothness properties a variety of nips passes through, and a device for performing this procedure.
Gloss and smoothness are characteristics of a paper web that are not only their appearance, but also their further processability influence. For certain applications, gloss and / or Smoothness values are desired that are reproducible as evenly as possible should be.
The gloss and smoothness of the paper web are common thereby increased that the paper web following the Drying section of the paper machine consisting of a smoothing unit passes through one or more nips, the gloss and / or the smoothness of the paper web by the pressure in the Nip and the temperature of the nip forming the nip Rolling is increased. This allows the gloss and However, influence the smoothness of the paper web only to a limited extent, because if the pressure in the Nip the paper web as a whole is strongly compressed and suffered a loss of volume. This also exists the risk that the paper web loses rigidity. Also There are limits to an increase in the roll temperature, because this procedure is very energy-intensive. So have to Achieve roller temperatures of 200 ° C continuously significant Amounts of energy are supplied because the rollers through the Passing paper web are constantly cooled. It was, for example with silicone paper, therefore already tries to get the shine and smoothness through the moisture of the To influence paper web. However, this has the disadvantage that at least the moisture supplied after the treatment partially must be removed again, which further process steps entails the temporal and apparatus Increase paper web treatment effort.
There are basically two types of smoothing units. So-called. Supercalenders have a large number on top of each other arranged rollers and nips provided between them that are traversed by the paper web. Through the Many nips result in a high degree of coverage and a good distribution of the satin work between print and Temperature. Super calenders are usually provided offline, i.e. the one coming out of the paper machine Paper web first wound up on a spool and with this is transferred to the super calender, which she then with at a significantly lower speed than the paper machine speed goes through. The offline installation has the advantage that the paper web is in the Supercalender can still compensate, so that in the supercalender not with the conditions influenced by many factors must be worked from the paper machine. The installation needs however, is significantly higher. Classically points out a super calender on the one hand heated steel rolls and on the other hand paper rolls or rolls covered with cotton on. In recent times, so-called multinip soft calenders have also become available used, where instead of the paper rollers with rollers Polymer covers are used. These point to another elastic behavior on than the paper rollers, so that with smaller nip pressure can be worked.
Second, there are so-called machine or soft calenders can be connected online to a paper machine and therefore be traversed at paper machine speed. Machine calenders, however, have only a few nips, see above that worked with higher pressure and temperature and the Paper web is stressed accordingly. More essential The disadvantage of the soft calender is that not all types of paper in high quality can be refined. In particular it is not possible with a high-density online soft calender Manufacture SC-A paper. It is more recent managed the printability properties of a with 11 Nips of super calendered gravure paper too to achieve with only 4 nips of a soft calender, yes are relatively high roller temperatures and compressive stresses required in the nips. These are also Qualities can only be achieved at a speed range, that of the usual satin speed for this paper in Supercalender corresponds. (See Rothfuss, Ulrich: Inline and Offline calendering of wood-containing, gravure-capable natural printing papers in: Wochenblatt für Papierfabrikation 1993, no. 11/12, pages 457-466). So such qualities can only can be achieved when installing the soft calender offline.
From DE 43 01 023 C2 it is also for machine calenders known to close the paper web immediately before the nip vaporize and pass the paper web through the nip before the temperature and humidity in the paper web are balanced to have. This not only achieves humidification of the Paper web, but achieved a temperature increase at the same time. The heat contained in the steam is transferred to the Condense on the paper web so that you can pass through it Measure a paper web that receives the surface has the necessary temperature and humidity. If this paper web is now passed through the nip, the nip mainly affects the surface area the paper web, while the middle (and lower) area is influenced much less. In the middle (and lower) There is therefore no significant change in the area Thickness direction. The volume of the paper web remains higher Dimensions received, although the surface quality is clear is improved. The online production of SC-A papers is however, not possible with such machine calenders.
The object of the invention is therefore the online production of Allow paper with high smoothness.
This object is essentially achieved with the invention solved that the coming out of the paper machine, online one Supercalender (multinip soft calender) fed paper web before passing through the first nip with spray is moistened and that the spray mist is about 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s before the paper web the first Roll nip passes through is applied to the paper web.
The moistening of paper webs with the help of nozzle dampers is basically known. A suitable spray head for this is known for example from DE 38 19 762 C2. Since at Spray individual drops onto the paper web uneven humidification inevitably takes place the paper web. Such humidification has so far been used only used for the offline treatment of paper webs, so that the moisture has enough time to spread evenly to distribute over the paper web. The online humidification will previously carried out by means of steam blow boxes, the at Spray mist by definition occurring drop formation straight should be prevented. However, with the invention recognized that the choice of an appropriate distance between the spray mist and the first nip of the Supercalender also with the online installation and with Conveyed paper web one evenly moistened paper web is accessible. It was found that a period of 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s is sufficient to get an evenly moistened Get paper web. The location of the humidifier depends essentially on the paper machine speed from. At a normal paper machine speed of up to 1,400 m / min with a desired exposure time of 0.7 s a spatial Distance of the moistening device from the first nip of approx. 16 m. This is appropriate in paper machines Deflections of the paper web can be easily realized.
To adequately equalize the drop by drop moisture that hits the paper web ensure is in a preferred embodiment Invention provided that the spray as a more uniform Fog with an average drop size <50 microns, preferably <= 20 microns is applied. The education Too large drops would even out the moisture distribution prevent in the paper web, causing deterioration in quality during treatment in the nips would lead.
Since the paper web, especially in the case of vapor deposition, immediately before the first nip, as in DE 43 01 023 C2 is proposed, treated gently in the calender , it is possible to use a to supply relatively high initial moisture. According to the invention therefore provided that the moisture content of the paper web is increased by approx. 5 to 7% due to the spray humidification. Based on an average humidity of 2 to 4% after leaving the paper machine, the paper web proves humidification thus a moisture of about 7 to 11%. The increased moisture content makes it easier to deform the paper web on the first nip of the supercalender.
Better penetration of moisture into the paper web is achieved in a development of the invention in that the Spray with water with reduced surface tension is produced. So the spray is according to the invention warm water is generated or the spray water becomes surfactants or the like added to increase the surface tension reduce.
According to the invention, the droplet size is reduced by that the spray is sprayed with air.
According to the invention it is further provided that the moisture of the Paper web in front of and / or behind the humidifier determined and that the humidification depending on the determined Humidity actual values and predetermined setpoints is regulated.
In a further development of the invention, the gloss and / or the Smoothness of the paper web measured and any gloss and / or Differences in smoothness determined over the width of the paper web. The individual spray heads of the nozzle humidifier can be used individually are controlled so that the fog application in the transverse direction the paper web on the determined gloss and / or Differences in smoothness can be adjusted.
According to the top and bottom of the paper web moistened so that the one to be applied to the single page The amount of moisture can be reduced accordingly. In addition, one can only be moistened on one side Paper web flat lay problems occur, i.e. it could be one slight bending of the edge areas take place.
Finally, it is part of the solution according to the invention, that the paper web immediately before the first nip of the Supercalender moistened with steam and through the nip is performed before through the steam application created increased moisture of the surface under one predetermined value has dropped in the range of 12% to 25%. In this way, as already described above, the influencing the paper web through the nip essentially limited to the surface areas of the paper web and a gentler treatment of the paper web in the super calender enables. Vaporization can also cause flat lay problems be compensated so that the paper web properly enters the supercalender flat.
The task is done with a device for online production solved by paper in that with a paper machine one dryer section and one behind the dryer section online arranged super calender (multinip soft calender) with one A large number of nips passing through the paper web following the dryer section of the paper machine a moistening device with at least one nozzle moistener to apply a spray to the paper web is provided, the moistening device being of the supercalender is spaced so that the paper web first nip about 0.6 to 1.2 s, preferably 0.8 to 1 s after humidification.
According to the invention, the moistening device each has at least one one of the top and bottom of the paper web assigned nozzle humidifier.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the A nozzle suction is provided, with which the fog in the Unit can be kept and an even distance the paper web to the nozzles can be guaranteed. The Suction creates a vacuum that compensates for the fact that the paper web is spray-moistened by the Nozzle moisture is pushed away.
In a further development of the invention, the nozzles in particular are Moistening the top of the paper web arranged horizontally, because of a downward spray Could cause drop problems.
A plurality of are preferably in the nozzle moistener Spray heads arranged side by side according to the invention can be controlled individually or in groups. It will enables detected differences in gloss and / or smoothness in the transverse direction of the paper web by appropriate control to compensate for the spray strength of individual spray nozzles.
Immediately before the first nip of the supercalender According to the invention, a steam delivery device is provided so that the temperature and Moisture increase in the paper web is not yet compensated, when the paper web passes through the nip.
In further development of this inventive idea is one Steam delivery device on both sides of the paper web arranged the first nip of the supercalender, so that improving both the gloss and smoothness properties the top and bottom of the paper web at the same time he follows.
In a development of the invention it is further provided that before and / or a measuring frame behind the moistening device is provided with which the moisture of the paper web is detected is, the measured values determined to control the Humidification device and / or the steam delivery device be used.

The nozzle moistener 8, 9 has a
dargestellten Kalander. Instead of the
Nachfolgend wird die Funktionsweise der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung 1 beschrieben:The mode of operation of the invention is described below Device 1 described:
The
With the
verbessern. In the first nip 12 1 of the
Dampfabgabeeinrichtungen 16, 16' gesteuert. In ähnlicher Weise
On the basis of the measured values of the measuring frames 6 and 10
and specified setpoints, the humidification is carried out by the
With the invention, the
