Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for operating a High performance printer or a copier, in which one Variety of monitoring units error states of the High-performance printer or copier.
- a high-performance printer for example, prints single sheets or sheet-like sheet material at high speed, for example, more than 50 A4 sheets per minute.
- Around high printing speed and further processing of the Ensuring sheet material are a variety of complex Units and control modules required.
- At Failure of a single module can already result in the operation of the High-performance printer so disturbed that printing must be stopped.
- a variety of monitoring units detect fault conditions.
- Such a monitoring unit can e.g. on be a simple limit switch that shows the open state of an appliance door recognizes.
- these monitoring units include also complex detector devices, for example the Determine wear of an aggregate.
- EP-A-0-429 056 describes a method for operating a Copier in which a variety of monitoring units Detect copier error conditions. These error conditions are in the form of signals via remote data transmission a control center that transmits these error conditions outputs on a control panel unit with display. error conditions can be classified according to the level of difficulty these error states of a first error class and be assigned to at least one second error class. An operator can relate to the fault conditions and the error classes by input into the control panel unit Get more information. Contain this information also notes on error handling.
- the invention provides a method for operating a High performance printer or copier provided, in which a variety of monitoring units error states of the High-performance printer or copier detect these error conditions from a control panel unit, which for input of operating commands and for displaying operating states serves to display the error conditions on a display through a control into a first error class and at least another class of error depending on the level of difficulty troubleshooting can be categorized when it occurs an error condition of the first and the further class by pressing an entry on the control panel unit information called up and shown on the display, what notes on error handling contain, and the the presence of an error condition of the other class is displayed on the control panel unit. Access to special information on error handling of error states the further error class takes place via an access authorization procedure.
- the invention is based on the consideration that error states, which are fixed with relatively simple measures can, from fault conditions to difficult countermeasures require to be differentiated to the appropriate operating personnel to be commissioned with error handling. Accordingly, the invention provides for the error states by a Control into a first error class and at least one more Error class depending on the difficulty of troubleshooting divide. For fault conditions that are technically complex and relatively difficult error handling measures will require only such an operator, e.g. a technician trained by special courses, for Error handling allowed if this operator has a has special access authorization and an access authorization procedure passed successfully. Only such a qualified one Operator are supported by a menu operation further information on the appropriate error handling communicated. In the case of fault conditions, the first Error class, any operator who is responsible for the High performance printer is responsible, assistance through the Display unit of the control panel unit received and accordingly Carry out error handling measures.
- Video data available on which when they occur an error condition can be accessed menu-driven said video data preferably operations to correct a Explain the fault condition.
- Different activities for Troubleshooting high performance printers is difficult because the measures spatial imagination of the operating personnel requires. Therefore, video recordings about such activities prepared and the video data stored in a memory. The operator can be used for such activities retrieve this video data and on the display of the control panel unit pose to learn them and then later yourself perform.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention provides that for states of the further error class data of a technical Manual are kept in a memory, to the after going through the access authorization procedure can be accessed.
- a technical manual or a maintenance manual is essential to work on highly complex Systems such as in the present case a high-performance printer, receive detailed technical information.
- the manual data e.g. Text data, graphic data, kept in a memory. This data can be changed easily and so on the technical current state of the high performance printer or Copier be adjusted.
- the highly qualified operator this data of the manual retrieve and the relatively complex troubleshooting measures carry out. An operator who has no access authorization cannot access the data in the manual and is prevented from initiating troubleshooting measures, for which she is not sufficiently qualified.
