Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an assembly for packaging and application of a composition, in particular of mascara, on keratin fibers.
  • a composition in particular of mascara
  • keratin fibers essentially covers hair appendages, and in particular, hair and eyelashes.
  • US-A-5,007,442 describes a set of mascara application comprising an applicator, in particular in the form of a brush, of the twisted brush type, which is associated with a counter-organ, capable of coming into engagement with the organ application.
  • the applicator member and the counter-member are arranged so as to be able, in the storage position, to be placed inside a tank, through from the same opening.
  • One of the problems with such a conception results from fact that, in the storage position, part of the applicator member is isolated from the product contained in the tank, by the counter-organ, which forms a screen between the product and a substantial part of the application surface of the organ application. This inevitably prevents a good loading of product from the application body.
  • the spin obtained when removing the device from the tank is of totally insufficient quality, which inevitably poses application problems.
  • Document DE-U-93,16,704 describes a device comprising two applicators connected to the same gripping means and two cylindrical and juxtaposed tanks suitable to each receive one of said applicators.
  • a device for conditioning and application of a composition, in particular of mascara, on keratin fibers comprising a reservoir containing said composition, an applicator comprising an applicator member having a surface suitable for coming into engagement with said keratin fibers, said application member being integral with a gripping member capable of closing off sealingly an opening of said reservoir, when the member application is placed inside the reservoir, said applicator comprising a counter-organ, integral with the gripping member, and able to be positioned facing at least a portion of the application surface for, when movement of the applicator relative to said fibers, maintain these last in intimate contact with said portion of application surface, from their base to their end, means being provided outside of said reservoir for receiving said counter-organ when the applicator member is arranged inside the tank.
  • the counter-organ is, in the non-use position, kept isolated from the applicator member and the product contained in the reservoir.
  • the counter-organ thus mounted relative to the applicator member, does not interfere with the member application, especially when loading it, or, if applicable during its spin.
  • the reception means also make it possible to isolate the counter-organ of the external environment, which avoids soiling said environment, when transporting the device, especially in a handbag.
  • the reception means prevent the counter-organ from being damaged or even broken during transport of the device.
  • the means of receiving said counter-organ can be used advantageously to facilitate closing the tank, and in particular improve the seal during periods of non-use. These means can also promote the holding of the device in position upright when the device is positioned on a flat surface, in particular a bathroom shelf.
  • the counter-organ can fill other functions. So, in the event that the device is used for the application of a composition on the eyelashes, the presence of the counter-organ allows, in accompanying the eyelashes with respect to the application member during the entire displacement of the applicator, from the base of the eyelashes to their ends, bend them and / or lengthen them.
  • a counter-organ in the form of wicks, such a counter-organ also makes it possible, during of the application, to isolate a precise wick of the fibers to be treated, and to position the wick selected relative to the applicator member.
  • Such a functionality is particularly advantageous when the device is used for the application in locks of a hair composition, in particular a mascara, on the hair.
  • the counter-organ can also include at least one row of teeth or bristles to, like a comb, form a member for separating eyelashes after application.
  • a comb can also be used in the case an application in wicks on the hair, to prepare the wick to be treated, before application.
  • Such a comb can be formed on the surface intended to come in engagement with the application member, or on the face opposite to said area.
  • both the application and the combing which until now, with some applicators, required the use of an auxiliary comb.
  • the counter-organ can in a way general, come in different forms.
  • the counter-organ can be in the form of a brush, a block of foam, or a wafer.
  • the application surface of said application member forms a closed envelope extending all around an axis, said surface portion application opposite which is the counter-organ extending over a angular area around said axis, less than or equal to 180 °, and preferably, less than or equal to 120 °.
  • This provision allows, after application, to use the rest of the application surface for finishing operations, in particular for separating or smoothing the eyelashes when the device is used for applying mascara to the eyelashes, without having to retract the said against organ.
  • This allows a substantially angularly fixed mounting (with an angle preferably, close to 0) of the counter-organ with respect to the application member, which facilitates the production thereof, and the packaging in non-use position.
  • the presence of the counter organ opposite only of an angular portion of the applicator member allows the user to choose to apply the product, either in cooperation with the counter-organ, either without the cooperation of the counter-organ, using the single surface of application in a conventional manner. So the same device can be used for the application in locks of a composition to the hair in using the cooperation of the enforcement body and the counter-organ, and for applying the same composition to the eyelashes, without using the counter-organ.
  • said applicator member has a free end and one end opposite to said free end, said opposite end being secured to a first end of a rod, comprising a second end integral with said gripping member.
  • an enforcement body may come in various forms. It can especially be a brush, a comb, a block of foam, or a brush.
  • the organ application consists of a brush formed of a core carrying bristles extending radially around said core.
  • said counter-organ is integral a first end of an arm, a second end integral with the gripping member, and arranged so that when the applicator member is arranged inside the tank, said arm extends substantially parallel to the axis of the tank, outside said tank. So the arm as well as the counter-organ extend outside the tank, being close to or even in contact with the external surface of said tank, which allows not to significantly increase the size of the device.
  • Said means for receiving the counter-organ may consist of a cup at least partially surrounding said reservoir, said cup having one end closed near the bottom of the tank, and one end open, opposite to said closed end, to receive said counter-organ, said cup extending axially over a height at least equal to the axial height of the counter-organ.
  • said gripping member is screwed onto said reservoir, said cup being stationary in rotation relative to said reservoir, said counter-organ being fixed in rotation relative to the gripping member.
  • the presence of the receiving means is particularly advantageous in that it provides more tightening torque important, thus improving the seal obtained when the device is closed.
  • the reception means constitute an element which makes it possible to carry out said screwing without being hampered by the presence of the arm extending along the tank.
  • means are provided to encourage the support of the counter-organ on the application surface.
  • Such means may include surface portion, formed by the arm in an intermediate position between the gripping organ and the counter-organ, so as to allow the user to apply pressure to it, in particular by means of the index finger, substantially perpendicular to the axis of the rod carrying the applicator member.
  • the applicator comprises means making it possible to take a precise wick of said keratin fibers, and means for facilitate the positioning of said wick opposite the applicator member.
  • This characteristic is particularly advantageous when it comes to to apply in particular a coloring product on very precise locks.
  • said means of sample may have a point formed by a free end of the against organ, said positioning means comprising an axial stop adjacent to one end of the counter-organ, located opposite said free end, and capable of limiting the movement of said wick taken in direction of the gripping member.
  • the packaging and application assembly 1 illustrated in FIG. 1 comprises a tank 2 of axis X, in the form of a cylindrical body of small section, of which one end is closed by a bottom 3 and the other end of which is surmounted a collar 4, a free edge of which delimits an opening 5 of slightly cross-section smaller than the body section.
  • a wiping member 6 in the form of a circular lip elastically deformable.
  • the neck 4 has a net 7 on its surface outer, able to cooperate by screwing with a corresponding thread 8 provided on an internal surface of the gripping member 9 of an applicator 100.
  • the member gripping 9, when screwed onto the reservoir is capable of closing said opening 5.
  • the gripping member 9 is formed by a cylindrical body of which one end is closed by a bottom and the other end is open. AT the interior of the gripping member is mounted, for example by breakdown, bonding or welding, a first end 11 of a rod 10 of axis B, and arranged along the axis X of the reservoir 2. The other end 12 of the rod 10, is secured to a first end 14 of an applicator member 13. The end free 15 of the applicator member 13, in the screwed position of the gripping 9 on the tank 2, is located substantially at the bottom of the tank 2.
  • the applicator member 13 is formed of a brush made of a metallic core trapping a helical row bristles extending radially all around the metallic core. The diameter of the wiping lip 6 is chosen so that when the applicator 100 is removed of the reservoir, dose the quantity of product on the applicator member 13 and if necessary, wipe the surface of the rod 10.
  • the device 1 also comprises a cylindrical sleeve 16, one end of which is closed, and the other end of which is open.
  • the sleeve is mounted by its open end on the closed end of the grip 9.
  • the sleeve 16 can be force-fitted, glued or welded to the gripping member 9.
  • On the side opposite its closed end, the sleeve is extended by an arm 17 extending substantially parallel to the axis B, and of which one end 18, opposite the sleeve 16 is integral with a first end 19 of a counter-organ 20.
  • the counter-organ 20 extends over a axial height substantially equal to the axial height of the applicator member 13.
  • the free end 21 of the counter-member 20 is, in the screwed position of the member grip 9, located axially slightly above the bottom 3 of the tank.
  • the arm 17 extends substantially parallel to the axis X of the reservoir, at a short distance, or even in contact with the external surface of the body tank 2.
  • the profile of the counter-member 20 is chosen so that, when it is brought into engagement with a corresponding portion of the application surface 22 of the applicator member 13, it perfectly matches the profile of said portion of area.
  • the counter-organ is designed so as to come into engagement with only on a small angular zone of the applicator member 13. Such a angular zone preferably extends over an angle less than 180 °, and preferably less than 120 °. For example, the angular zone extends over 10 ° at 60 °.
  • the engagement is done by exerting a simple pressure on the arm 17, in an intermediate position located between the gripping member 9 and the counter-organ 20, so as to bring together, by elastic deformation of the arm 17, the counter-organ 20 of the corresponding surface portion of the organ of application 13.
  • the displacement to be carried out for this setting engagement is of the order of 10 mm to 15 mm for the free end 21 of the against organ.
  • This position of application, or engagement of the counter-member 20 with the applicator member 13 is shown in FIG. 2A, and results from a force exerted in the direction of arrow A, substantially perpendicular to the axis of the rod 10.
  • the surface 22 of the applicator member 13 is cylindrical over substantially its entire height, and frustoconical in the vicinity of its free end 15.
  • the counter-member 20 is in position of application, substantially parallel to the axis of the rod 10. Only the free end 21 is inclined in the direction of the axis B of the rod 10, so as to match the frustoconical portion of the applicator member 13.
  • the free end 21 is tapered in the shape of a point so as to promote the removal of a specific lock of hair, for example to apply a coloring product in the form of wicks.
  • a step is formed at the junction between the end 18 of the arm 17 and the end 19 of the counter-member 20. This step produces a axial stop 25 capable of limiting the movement of a drill bit taken by the free end 21 of the counter-organ, in the direction of the gripping member, and thus maintain the wick opposite the applicator member 13.
  • the device according to the invention comprises also a cup 30 capable of receiving the counter-organ 20 when the organ application 13 is disposed inside the reservoir 2.
  • said cup 30 has a side skirt 31 having an open end delimited by a free edge 32.
  • the end of the skirt 31, opposite the free edge 32, is closed by a bottom 34.
  • the bottom 34 carries a internal chimney 33 whose internal diameter is adapted to allow a force fitting of the cup 31 on the end of the tank 2 adjacent to the bottom 3.
  • the cup can be glued or welded to said end of the reservoir 2.
  • the lateral skirt 31 of the cup forms in the vicinity of the end opposite the free edge 32, a frustoconical portion so as to marry the profile coming from the free end 21 of the counter-member 20.
  • the cup 30 forms an annular space 35 delimited by the outer surface of the tank 2, the internal surface of the side skirt 31, and the bottom 34.
  • This space opposite the annular bottom 34 has an annular opening delimited by the free edge 32 of the skirt 31.
  • the annular space 35 extends over an axial height substantially equal to the axial height of the counter-member 20, so as to receive, via the opening delimited by the edge 32, said counter-organ 20 when the applicator member 13 is disposed inside the reservoir 2.
  • the radial width of the annular space 35 is of the order of 1 cm. This radial width depends to a large extent on the profile of the counter-organ 20.
  • the user grasps with one hand the cup 31, and on the other, the gripping member 9. It rotates one relative to each other so as to cause the unscrewing of the gripping 9 relative to the reservoir 2. In doing so, the counter-member 20 rotates freely in the annular space 35. Once the gripping member fully unscrewed, it extracts the applicator member 13 from the reservoir 2, which applicator is fully loaded with product and ready for application.
  • the user positions the applicator 100 so that the eyelash arch is positioned between the member application 13 and the counter-organ 20, starting with the base of the eyelashes. It exerts pressure on the arm 17 so as to pinch the eyelashes between the applicator member 13 and the counter-member 20. It then moves the applicator so as to go up towards the free end of the eyelashes.
  • the desired effect in particular bending or lengthening, it prints the applicator the desired movement, namely more or less curved towards the top, so that the desired movement can be imparted to the eyelashes, very marked effects which can be obtained insofar as the eyelashes are perfectly maintained in engagement with the application member until their end.
  • the user can then rotate the applicator member so as to put the eyelashes in engagement with a portion of the application surface 22 other than that located opposite the counter-organ. She can thus perfect the application by smoothing or separating the eyelashes, without being hindered by the counter-organ.
  • Such an application is illustrated diagrammatically in FIGS. 4A-4B.
  • combing can be carried out by a combing element auxiliary carried by the counter-organ, which will be discussed in detail later with reference to Figures 3D and 3E.
  • the application inserts the application member 13 into the tank 2, via the opening 5. It drives the gripping member 9 in rotation relative to the reservoir 2 by holding the cup 31 with one hand, and with the other, the gripping member 9. It turns until a complete screwing of the gripping member 9 on the reservoir 2.
  • the tightening torque obtained by the presence of the cup 31, of larger outside section than the section of the tank, is greater than that obtained with the sets of conventional packaging and application. The seal is therefore significantly improved.
  • the applicator 100 is substantially identical to the applicator 100 discussed with reference to FIG. 1.
  • the applicator member 13 is formed from a block of cell foam. open or semi open with a profile similar to that of the brush in Figure 1.
  • the arm 17 forms a intermediate position between the gripping member 9 and the counter-member 20, a portion of surface 101 capable of receiving a finger of the user for placing in support of the counter-member 20 on the application member 13.
  • Figures 3A-3E illustrate different profiles of the counter-member 20.
  • the applicator member 13 is of circular section.
  • the counter-organ 20 extends over a small angular zone in view of the envelope surface 22 of the applicator member. Typically, the angular area is around 30 °.
  • the surface of the counter-organ 20 facing of the envelope surface 22 of the applicator member 13, has a radius of curvature substantially identical to that of the envelope surface 22.
  • the surface of the counter-member 20 facing the envelope surface 22 of the applicator member 13 has a radius of curvature significantly less than that of the envelope surface 22.
  • the portion of a circle formed by the surface of the counter-member 20 facing the envelope surface 22 is oriented at the opposite of the circle formed by the envelope surface 22.
  • the counter-member 20 faces the surface casing 22 of the applicator member 13 over an angular zone greater than that of the previous embodiments. Typically, this area extends at an angle of about 50 ° to 80 °.
  • the respective profiles of the application body 13 and the counter-organ 20 are chosen according to the fibers to be treated and the application characteristics sought. In the embodiment of the FIG.
  • the counter-organ 20 presents, on the surface 111 opposite the surface 112 intended to come into engagement with the application member 13, teeth 110 or bristles, in the form of one or more rows, and the free ends are oriented opposite the applicator member, which teeth can be used especially for combing eyelashes after application.
  • the teeth 110 are carried by the surface 112 of the counter-organ 20, intended to come into engagement with the implementing body 13. In this way, with a single gesture, the user can load the eyelashes with product, separate them, and curl them or lengthen.
